    What happens when weight loss jabs go horribly wrong? And would you ever trust someone selling prescription medication through WhatsApp? Dan and Ron are back for Episode 169 of People Like Us, and this week Dan has a couple of stories that probably shouldn't have happened in the first place! 😂 Things begin with a debate about relationships and whether your partner should be your phone background, before Dan reminisces about his trip to Havana, Cuba. The conversation soon moves through Copenhagen, Salzburg, life in the UK and the lads' questionable knowledge of world geography. But then things take a turn... Dan reveals how he discovered a WhatsApp seller offering an enormous catalogue of products, including prescription medication, and explains what happened when his curiosity got the better of him. Later, he shares the full story of his experience with weight loss injections, including the unpleasant side effects that left him in some seriously embarrassing situations. From an incident on the StairMaster at the gym to an unforgettable trip to a coffee shop in Newcastle, it's fair to say things didn't go to plan!     How I Went From A BTCC Champion Mechanic To Dakar Rally | Adam Jarps #EP167

    🏁 What does it take to go from working on a championship-winning BTCC car to helping a team win the Dakar Rally? Adam Jarps has done both, and his journey into professional motorsport is quite a story. In Episode 167 of People Like Us, Dan and Ron welcome Adam Jarps, a former junior cycling champion from Newton Aycliffe who went from a Jaguar Land Rover apprenticeship to working on Jake Hill's BMW in the British Touring Car Championship, before joining the Dacia Sandriders for the Dakar Rally. From Cycling Champion to Motorsport Mechanic Adam's journey began in competitive cycling, where he excelled in time trials, won the junior Chris Boardman Trophy in 2018 and trained alongside riders connected to the Team GB programme. But his passion for cars eventually led him towards engineering. After completing five A-levels, Adam secured a degree apprenticeship at Jaguar Land Rover, working in powertrain engineering and testing vehicles including the electric Jaguar I-Pace. He explains why working with electric cars wasn't quite what he'd imagined and how he made the move into motorsport. Inside Jake Hill's 2024 BTCC Championship Victory Adam takes us behind the scenes of his time with West Surrey Racing, working as a number two mechanic on Jake Hill's BMW for Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport. He explains his responsibilities on the car, the precision involved in preparing a touring car for race weekends and what life is really like in a BTCC garage. Then comes the unforgettable 2024 championship finale.
