    600,000 Images, 70,000 Videos & a Mystery | Philadelphia’s House of Horrors

What was happening inside Philadelphia’s so-called “House of Horrors”? In 2026, investigators searching a home on West Chew Avenue in Philadelphia’s Olney neighborhood uncovered a disturbing collection of evidence — including chemicals, firearms, drugs, forged identification documents, a 55-gallon drum connected to piping, and an enormous amount of digital material. At the center of the investigation is Eugene Horsch, who was arrested in June 2026 on federal firearms and identification-related charges. But the investigation quickly expanded far beyond those allegations. Investigators reportedly recovered more than 600,000 images, 70,000 videos, and thousands of pages of writings from the property. Only a fraction of that material had been reviewed at the time of early reporting. Authorities have also connected the investigation to several missing women, including Amy McHale, Blair Tonzelli, Maribel Fresses, and Gabriella Amarando. Recent reporting says investigators found videos that appear to show two missing women alive and later deceased. However, their remains have not been recovered, and Horsch has not been charged in connection with their deaths. Those distinctions are important as this investigation continues to develop. ☕ Welcome to Coffee and Crime with Mom — where we sit down, pour a cup of coffee, and take a closer look at the cases that leave us with more questions than answers. The Clerk, the Money, and the Retrial | The Murders of Maggie and Paul Murdaugh pt.2

⚠️ Content Warning: This episode covers large-scale financial fraud against disabled and grieving victims, jury tampering, a federal investigation, and ongoing litigation. Some details discussed are unresolved and may change as this case continues. Please take care while listening. Alex Murdaugh confessed, under oath, to stealing more than twenty million dollars from his own clients over fifteen years — including a disabled quadriplegic man, an injured state trooper, his own law partners, and the family of the housekeeper who worked in his home for over two decades. He's serving a combined 27-year state and 40-year federal sentence for it, and none of that is going anywhere. But in May 2026, the South Carolina Supreme Court did something almost nobody predicted: they unanimously threw out his two life sentences for murdering his wife and son — because the county's own Clerk of Court, Becky Hill, had tampered with the jury. In part two of our deep dive into this case, Nicholle and Zalle break down exactly how much money Alex Murdaugh stole and from whom, unpack the sworn juror testimony that convinced five Supreme Court justices to void a verdict three years after it was handed down, and get into where this case stands right now — the fight over where the retrial will even be held, a defense push for new DNA testing, and an Attorney General publicly weighing the death penalty for the first time. This one is very much still being written in real time. Listen wherever you get your podcasts. Missed part one? Go back and start there. Blood at the Kennels | The Murders of Maggie and Paul Murdaugh pt.1

For over a hundred years, the Murdaugh family ran the legal system in South Carolina's Lowcountry — three generations of elected prosecutors, followed by a fourth generation son who became a powerful personal injury attorney. Then, on the night of June 7th, 2021, Alex Murdaugh called 911 to report finding his wife Maggie and son Paul shot to death near the dog kennels of their sprawling estate, Moselle. No weapon. No witness. No obvious motive — until investigators started pulling back the layers of a family whose finances were quietly rotting from the inside. In this first half of our two-part deep dive, Nicholle and Zalle trace the full arc: the 2019 boat crash that killed nineteen-year-old Mallory Beach and first cracked the Murdaugh family's carefully built image, the discovery that Alex had been stealing millions from his own clients — including a housekeeper's grieving family and a disabled quadriplegic former client — the botched insurance-fraud suicide plot that finally exposed him, and the six-week murder trial that ended in a three-hour guilty verdict and two consecutive life sentences. If you think you already know how this story ends, part two is going to change your mind. Listen wherever you get your podcasts. Part two drops next — new episodes of Coffee and Crime with Mom every week. ⚠️ Content Warning: This episode covers the murders of a mother and son, graphic descriptions of gunshot wounds, domestic and family violence, addiction, financial exploitation of vulnerable and disabled victims, and the death of a young woman in an earlier boating accident. The Boy Who Stayed Behind | The Leaked Call and Autopsy Rocking the Nolan Wells Case

On the Fourth of July, four Ocean Springs, Mississippi teenagers took a boat out to Horn Island — a remote barrier island ten miles off the Gulf Coast with no cell service and no way to call for help. Eighteen-year-old Nolan Xavier Wells, a wide receiver about to start his freshman season at Southwest Mississippi Community College, was last seen alive around 3 PM, talking to a girl on the beach. His three friends — all white — later told investigators he "chose to stay behind." He never came home. His body was found two days later, face down in a marsh at the island's edge. This week, Nicholle and Zalle walk through the GPS timeline, break down the leaked call word for word, unpack what the independent autopsy did and didn't find, and get into an honest, unscripted conversation about where they personally land — while being careful to separate confirmed fact from disputed internet claims on a case that is still very much open. ⚠️ Content Warning: This episode covers the death of an 18-year-old, the discovery of a body in water, a disputed and graphic leaked emergency-call recording, and an active investigation involving unresolved racial tension. No individual named in this episode has been charged with a crime, and several claims discussed — particularly around the leaked call's background audio — are disputed, unverified, and still under investigation. We name people only as they've been named in public reporting, and we ask you to hold every theory loosely. Please take care while listening.
