Mikayla Thomas

The Circle of Becoming with Mylk is a space for growth, healing, and truth. Centered on the experiences of Black women but open to all this podcast explores what it means to evolve emotionally, spiritually, and romantically in a world that doesn’t always make space for softness. Through honest conversations, personal reflection, and intentional guidance, Mylk (me) creates a space where healing is not rushed, growth is not forced, and becoming is honored at every stage. This is where you come to unlearn, relearn, and reconnect with yourself.

Is Religion a Coping Mechanism? The Spiritual Spectrum

In this episode, I’m getting personal about religion, spirituality, and the complicated journey of figuring out what you actually believe. My relationship with faith has never been completely straightforward. I’ve experienced different ends of the spiritual spectrum—from identifying as a Christian, to questioning religion altogether and considering myself an atheist, to eventually developing a deeper understanding of what spirituality and belief mean to me personally. We’re talking about what happens when you allow yourself to question the beliefs you were raised with, explore different perspectives, and build a belief system that feels authentic to you. This conversation isn’t about telling anyone what to believe. Instead, it’s about the value of being open-minded enough to understand why people believe differently and recognizing that spirituality doesn’t look the same for everyone. I also explore the idea that having some type of belief system, faith, philosophy, or guiding set of values can give our lives meaning, direction, community, and something to ground ourselves in—especially when life gets uncertain. Whether you’re deeply religious, spiritual but not religious, atheist, agnostic, questioning everything, or somewhere in between, this episode is an invitation to listen without judgment, challenge your own perspective, and stay open to the possibility that there’s something valuable to learn from people whose beliefs are completely different from your own. You don’t have to believe the same thing to learn from each other.
