From Cashier to COO: Adrianna Fox on Family Business, Motherhood and Legacy: Episode #3

Adrianna Fox started at Island Luck as a cashier. Today, she serves as its COO and co-shareholder while also helping lead the Fox Group of Companies. In this episode of Mentor Me, host Anastarcia Palacious asks Adrianna a question some people may already be thinking: Is she only COO because her father started the company? Adrianna responds by taking us through the work behind the title. She explains how she gained experience in customer service, cash management, human resources, operations and other areas of the business before advancing into executive leadership. She also discusses a side of success that people rarely see. Adrianna became a mother at 21, around the same time Island Luck began. She recalls attending her son’s soccer practice and realizing that the other parents did not know she was his mother because her own mother had attended the practices, games and school pickups while Adrianna worked. The conversation explores childhood epilepsy, working motherhood, family support, female leadership and the responsibility of building generational wealth. Adrianna and Anastarcia also discuss why women are often reluctant to talk about salaries, capital and financial goals, and how that silence can affect their ability to negotiate and grow. You will hear: Why Adrianna believes leaders should understand every level of a business How she responds to assumptions about her success What her childhood health challenges taught her about resilience The sacrifices she made as a young working mother Why accepting help does not make a woman less capable How women can create stronger financial and business networks The role of faith, curiosity and discipline in Adrianna’s growth What she wants future generations to remember about her legacy Mentor Me presents lessons from leaders who lived them.
