DayOne’s IPO, FIRMUS Updates & More | DCNA

We’re heading to DCD Connect India today, where the conversations around data centre investment, capacity and infrastructure growth across the region continue. Before we get into the event, here’s a look at the latest APAC data centre news, including major project developments, new investments and regulatory updates: DayOne Files for Nasdaq IPO: DayOne hasn't slowed down, filing a prospectus showing 962 MW in service and over 1.3 GW under construction. Operations in Malaysia account for a not-insignificant 87% of total revenue. Firmus Technologies & CDC End Joint Venture: The $50B+ AUD Project Southgate won't move forward beyond 42 MW, though Firmus isn't halting its self-developed builds or its planned ASX listing. Firmus Technologies Tops Out Launceston Site: The completion of the first 42 MW hall at the Tasmania campus will allow the deployment of its HyperCube cooling setup without delay. Zerra DC Secures Macquarie Capital Equity: Securing backing from Macquarie Capital isn't a small step for its regional project pipeline across Australia, India, and Japan. CDC Plans Regional NSW Campus: A multi-phase 240 MW footprint in Wagga Wagga represents a commitment that won't come cheap, with capex estimated around $10B USD. Goodman Withdraws Sydney Application: The 90 MW Project Mars in Lane Cove won't proceed after local residential feedback was not negligible. Victoria Introduces Action Plan: Regulators in Victoria haven't left data centre standards untouched, introducing a framework for grid integration and sustainability. Thailand Finalizes Regulations: Recent stop-work orders haven't stopped authorities from putting together clearer standards to guide future builds. CoreWeave Enters Indian Market: Securing 240 MW across three buildings with AdaniConneX in Navi Mumbai isn't a minor entrance into the compute space. AirTrunk Commits $1B in Japan: Deploying green financing to expand the TOK1 facility in Inzai is no small project as liquid cooling demand grows. Enters Indian Market: Securing 240 MW across three buildings with AdaniConneX in Navi Mumbai isn't a minor entrance into the compute space. KT Cloud Partners on Incheon Build: Operating an 11-story, 50 MW facility in Cheongna is not an unusual approach for high-density urban sites in South Korea. Amazon Expands in Malaysia: Purchasing a 45.4-acre site in Sepang for ~$75M USD is not an insignificant addition to its local campus plans. Amazon Buys Hong Kong Asset: Buying out iTech Towers from Grand Ming Group isn't the standard move for AWS, which rarely acquires facilities where it is already a tenant.U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) Funds Feasibility Study: Grant support for the Stavian Digital Park in Ho Chi Minh City is not an unpromising step for US investment in Vietnamese infrastructure. We’ve also just published our latest “In Conversation” episode featuring James Druce, Head of Research at CLSA. This week: OpenAI's footprint spreads across India and Australia, Korea goes big on gigawatts, and New Zealand's Green Party wants everyone to stop. - Tata acquires land in Vizag — next door to Google and Adani, and likely the first customer for its new HyperVault gigawatt campus. Nobody's confirmed OpenAI yet. - NEXTDC's S7 (Stargate Australia) drops its recycled water cooling plan after failing to get planning permission for the pipeline. Closed loop instead — better for water, worse for PUE. - Fujitsu offloads its Australian data centres to Next Capital. ~25MW capacity, only 7MW leased, 130 clients, reportedly just under the portfolio's $40M USD replacement value. Up to 100MW of development potential in those sites. - A $1.1B AUD ($770M USD) campus proposed in the City of Casey, Melbourne. Councillors haven't been asked to decide anything yet. We know who the developer is. We're not telling you for free. - Beetaloo Digital Hub — a gigawatt gas-powered campus outside Darwin, from Beetaloo Energy's new digital arm. Another power owner bringing a site to market. - Mercury takes a 12.7% stake in Datagrid NZ for $30M USD, months after signing the PPA. The 280MW site is still monstrous by New Zealand standards. - New Zealand's Green Party responds by calling for a one-year moratorium on AI data centres. - Nvidia and SK Group announce a $500B AI agreement for 2GW of capacity in Korea. - LS Electric and LG Uplus partner on DC-based power infrastructure, plus a groundbreaking for NeoAI Cloud's 300MW Hyundai Electric-built facility in Pohang. - SK Telecom spins up a wholly owned data centre subsidiary with 750B KRW ($500M USD) seed investment — targeting 15GW by 2035.
