Episode 27 - The Ghost Plane Of Bleaklow

Episode 27 – The Ghost Plane of Bleaklow ✈️👻 A ghostly aircraft, a tragic wartime crash, and a mystery that refuses to fade… High on the windswept moors of the Peak District lies Bleaklow, a remote and unforgiving landscape with a haunting history. In November 1948, an American B-29 Superfortress bomber, Over Exposed, crashed into the hillside, tragically claiming the lives of all 13 men on board. The wreckage remains scattered across the moor to this day, serving as a poignant reminder of those who lost their lives. But could something else still linger among the wreckage? In this week's episode of This Is A Ghost Story, Kathryn and Alison explore the eerie legend of the Ghost Plane of Bleaklow, where reports of unexplained aircraft sounds, strange sightings and unsettling experiences have added a supernatural dimension to an already tragic location. We also share an eyewitness account from Daniel James, whose experience on Bleaklow raises some intriguing questions about what might still haunt these lonely hills. Was it simply the imagination playing tricks in an atmospheric location, or could the echoes of the past still be heard across the moors? Join Kathryn and Alison for the story, before Producer Andrew delves deeper into the history, evidence and possible explanations behind this fascinating mystery. 🎙️ This Is A Ghost Story – Episode 27: The Ghost Plane of Bleaklow 👻 Have you ever experienced something unexplained at a historic location? Episode 25 - The Thing In Tring

THIS IS A GHOST STORY Episode 25 — THE THING IN TRING 🛸 A deserted road. A mysterious object. And a brand-new car that suddenly refuses to accelerate… In the early hours of 9th February 1962, 34-year-old Ronald Wildman was driving a new Vauxhall from Luton towards Swansea when he encountered something extraordinary on Ivinghoe Road, near Aston Clinton. Hovering just feet above the road was a huge, oval-shaped object, estimated to be up to forty feet across, with strange dark markings resembling portholes. As Ronald approached, his car mysteriously began losing power. The object moved ahead of him, seemingly following the road, before disturbing frost-covered trees and disappearing into the night at incredible speed. Moments later, his car returned to normal. But this wasn’t the end of the story. Police became involved, and UFO investigators subsequently visited the location, interviewed Ronald and conducted tests for radiation and magnetic disturbances. What did Ronald Wildman really encounter that freezing February morning? In this week’s This Is A Ghost Story, Kathryn and Alison revisit one of the area’s most intriguing UFO encounters, while Producer Andrew explores the original 1962 investigation, contemporary reports and possible explanations behind the mysterious sighting. Was it a case of mistaken identity, an unexplained natural phenomenon… or something truly out of this world? Join us for Episode 25 — The Thing In Tring. And no, it’s not quite Tring… but The Thing Near Aston Clinton doesn’t have quite the same ring to it! 👻 Have you experienced something unexplained? Episode 23 - Barney: The Berkhamsted Poltergeist

It’s just after four o’clock in the morning. Ken Monger is awake and making his way downstairs towards the kitchen. But when he reaches the door, something is wrong. The kitchen has been completely turned upside down. And this would be far from the last strange event to trouble the Monger family. In 1980, Ken and Jenny Monger temporarily moved into a council house in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, while their usual home was being modernised. Almost immediately, unexplained things began to happen. Objects moved. Strange noises were heard. The family experienced disturbances they simply couldn’t explain. And before long, whatever was responsible had been given a name: Barney. This week on This Is A Ghost Story, Kathryn & Alison tell the strange story of the Berkhamsted Poltergeist — a case that became serious enough to attract the attention of the local press. Then Producer Andrew digs into the research, including contemporary newspaper reporting from November 1980, to find out what we can establish about the Monger family, their temporary home and the strange events said to have taken place there. Who — or what — was Barney? And what really happened inside that ordinary Hertfordshire house more than 45 years ago? 🎧 THIS IS A GHOST STORY — THE PODCAST Hosted by Kathryn & AlisonProduced & researched by Andrew 🎵 MUSIC CREDITS Opening Music:“It’s In The Fog” — Darren Curtis (@DarrenCurtisMusic)Via BreakingCopyright — Royalty Free MusicLicensed under Creative Commons Attribution 3.0https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/Music provided via BreakingCopyright:https://breakingcopyright.com/ Additional Music:“Haunted” — Ross BugdenYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQKGLOK2FqmVgVwYferltKQFree To Use YouTube LicensePowered by BreakingCopyright:https://breakingcopyright.com/ 🔊 SOUND EFFECTS Sound effects sourced from Pixabay:https://pixabay.com/ 👻 Got a ghost story of your own? Episode 22 - The A70 UFO Case

👽 EPISODE 22 — THE A70 UFO CASE On a cold November night in 1992, two men were driving along Scotland’s remote A70 road when they encountered something they could not explain. What began as an ordinary journey home would become one of Scotland’s most intriguing UFO cases. As Garry Wood and Colin Wright travelled through the dark countryside near Edinburgh, they spotted a strange object hovering above the road ahead. Moments later, their memories seemed to stop. When they came to, they were still in the car — but something was wrong. They were much further along their journey than they should have been. And more than an hour of their lives appeared to be missing. What happened during those lost minutes would only emerge later, when hypnotic regression reportedly uncovered disturbing memories of a terrifying encounter. But what really happened on the A70 that night? Was it an alien abduction? A strange psychological experience? Or could there be another explanation entirely? Kathryn and Alison tell the extraordinary story of The A70 UFO Case, before Andrew digs into the research, the investigation that followed, and the theories surrounding one of Scotland’s strangest alleged close encounters. 🎧 THIS IS A GHOST STORY — THE PODCASTEpisode 22: The A70 UFO Case Available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music and YouTube. 🎵 MUSIC CREDITS Opening Music “It’s In The Fog” — Darren Curtis (@DarrenCurtisMusic)Via BreakingCopyright — Royalty Free Music Licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 3.0https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/ Music provided via BreakingCopyrighthttps://breakingcopyright.com Additional Music “Haunted”Composer: Ross Bugdenhttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQKGLOK2FqmVgVwYferltKQ License: Free To Use YouTube license — youtube-freeMusic powered by BreakingCopyrighthttps://breakingcopyright.com 🔊 SOUND EFFECTS SFX from Pixabayhttps://pixabay.com/

Episode 21 - The Phantom Hitchhiker of Stanbridge

A lonely country road. A driver travelling through the Bedfordshire countryside. And a passenger who seemingly disappears without a trace. This week on This Is A Ghost Story, we head to the small village of Stanbridge and one of the strangest ghost stories to emerge from the local area. For years, stories have circulated of a mysterious figure encountered on the roads around Stanbridge — a phantom hitchhiker whose appearance has left those who claim to have seen them with an experience they cannot easily explain. It’s a classic piece of ghostly folklore: a solitary figure beside the road, an unsuspecting motorist and a journey that takes a decidedly supernatural turn. But where did the story come from? Is the Phantom Hitchhiker of Stanbridge based on a genuine encounter? Has the tale changed as it has been passed from person to person? And why do remarkably similar stories of vanishing hitchhikers appear all over Britain — and around the world? Kathryn and Alison tell the story, before Producer Andrew digs into the history and folklore surrounding the case and takes a closer look at the enduring legend of the Vanishing Hitchhiker. Was somebody really encountered on a dark Bedfordshire road? Could there be a more ordinary explanation? Or does something still wait beside the road at Stanbridge for the next unsuspecting driver to come along? As always… we’ll leave that for you to decide. 🚗 A lonely road. 👤 A mysterious passenger. 👻 And a journey the witnesses would never forget. 🎧 This Is A Ghost Story — Episode 21: The Phantom Hitchhiker of Stanbridge Available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music and YouTube. Episode 20 - Ghosts Gone Wild

👻 EPISODE 20 — GHOSTS GONE WILDThe Funny Side of the Paranormal This week’s episode contains bleeped swearing and words that may not be suitable for younger listeners. Not every ghost story ends with screaming. Sometimes the ghost tells you to f##k off. Sometimes a UFO apparently abducts your dog, car AND tent. And sometimes the mysterious object you’ve been following through the sky turns out to be… a Tesco carrier bag. This week on This Is A Ghost Story, we’re doing something a little different. Kathryn, Alison and Andrew take a trip through the stranger — and considerably funnier — side of the paranormal, digging into bizarre ghost encounters and some genuinely extraordinary reports preserved in Britain’s official Ministry of Defence UFO files. We’ve got a foul-mouthed ghost at Dead Woman’s Ditch, a mysterious fireball that reportedly flew into a woman’s kitchen and landed in a carrier bag, a worried Springer Spaniel, a schoolgirl demanding UFO disclosure from the British government, police officers chasing something across Ohio… and a man who claimed he was living with an alien in Carlisle. Plus phantom cats, pub ghosts, apparitions being completely ignored and the important question nobody else seems willing to ask: If a ghost tells you to f##k off… do you actually have to? Some of these encounters may have perfectly ordinary explanations. Others remain disputed or unexplained. But every case reminds us that the paranormal doesn’t always have to be terrifying. Sometimes… it’s just bloody weird. 🎧 GHOSTS GONE WILD — The Funny Side of the Paranormal 👻 LISTENER CHALLENGE Have you ever had a paranormal experience that was actually funny? Maybe you completely embarrassed yourself after mistaking something ordinary for a ghost or UFO. Maybe your resident spirit is more annoying than frightening. Or perhaps something genuinely unexplained happened that you couldn’t help laughing about afterwards. We want to hear it. 📧 thisisaghoststory@icloud.com Send us your story and, if we get enough, we’ll make another episode entirely from your funny paranormal encounters. 🎵 MUSIC CREDITS Opening Music: “It’s In The Fog” — Darren Curtis (@DarrenCurtisMusic)Via BreakingCopyright — Royalty Free MusicLicensed under Creative Commons Attribution 3.0Music provided via BreakingCopyright “Mischievous” — HarumachiMusicVia Pixabay Sound effects via Pixabay.
