1,100 Miles & the Lesson She Taught Me

Sometimes the very thing you're asking God to remove is the thing He's using to strengthen you. In this episode, I share a chance encounter with a Pacific Crest Trail hiker who had already walked 1,100 miles on foot, and how that unexpected conversation on a mountain trail led me to reflect on endurance, struggle, and the growth that comes from pressing on. This episode weaves together stories of marathon runners, triathletes, butterflies emerging from cocoons, and the quiet, unglamorous work of stacking bricks when you can't yet see what you're building. It's about the mental load, the moments you want to quit, and the people who meet you at 3 a.m. to run alongside you. If you've ever wondered why the hard things don't just go away, or you're in the middle of a long training season in life and can't see the finish line yet, I hope this episode encourages you to keep going. The struggle may be shaping you more than you realize. Key Timestamps: [00:00:00] Introduction [00:22:00] Meeting Wink, a PCT Hiker [04:55:00] The Butterfly and the Cocoon [09:01:00] Sarah's Marathon: Stacking Bricks [10:01:00] Megan's Triathlon Comeback [12:30:00] Luke's First Marathon [14:45:00] Parenting and Endurance [16:15:00] Bringing Wink Home Memorable Quotes "Have you ever wondered why God just doesn't simply remove the hard things from our lives? It's because sometimes that very thing that we're asking God to remove is the very thing He's using to strengthen us." [00:05:25] – Kimber Allen  "If someone were to cut that cocoon open to make that process easier, the butterfly might emerge, but its wings would not develop properly. And it would likely never fly." The Conversations Stealing Your Joy: How to Take It Back

There's a story about an art class where students were asked to paint joy on the first day. The winning painting wasn't memorable because of the sunset or the wildflowers. It showed two women at an outdoor café, laughing over coffee, and it captured the beauty of genuine connection. In this episode, I share why that image has stayed with me and how it reminds me that joy isn't something we manufacture. I believe joy is painted into our lives through the choices we make each day, the conversations we have with ourselves, others, and God, and our willingness to let Him hold the brush. I also talk about the difference between rehearsing lies in our minds and anchoring our thoughts in what is true, honorable, and praiseworthy. If you've been too busy to notice the butterflies, too overwhelmed to change the conversation in your mind, or too isolated to gather with others, I hope this episode encourages you to start painting again. Key Timestamps: [00:00:00] Introduction [00:01:31] Painting joy [00:05:12] Three joy conversations [00:07:54] Rehearsing truth [00:08:36] Changing your words [00:11:49] Talking with God [00:13:54] Joy in daily strokes Memorable Quotes "Joy isn't usually formed in one dramatic moment. It is painted into our lives through daily choices that we make." [00:14:18] – Kimber Allen  "Our mouths often reveal where our hearts have been living." [00:06:31] – Kimber Allen  And if you're looking for a place to keep building a beautiful life with others who are choosing to live honestly, put faith first, and have the courage to begin before they're ready, I'd love to have you join my Build It Messy Skool Community: https://www.skool.com/build-it-messy-3088 Links Mentioned In This Episode: 30-Minute Discovery Call: https://calendly.com/kimberlyaproductions   Connect with Kimber Allen: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/kimberlya.co Produced by Evolved Podcasting: www.evolvedpodcasting.com

Iron Sharpens Iron: The Truth About Why You Can't Grow Alone

In this episode, I open up about a dry season that led me to ask a harder question: Am I performing for God or for people? And more importantly, am I even connected to the Source? I walk you through a deeply personal realignment process using Psalm 139:23–24: reconnect, readjust, and realign. I share what it looked like to give God permission to search my heart, test my anxious thoughts, and reveal anything that was offending Him. It's raw, it's honest, and it's exactly what you need if you've been spinning your wheels but not moving forward. The daily reps produce the results. But only if you're aligned with the right Source. Key Timestamps: [00:00:00] Introduction [00:03:02] Iron sharpens iron: the workout story and seeing real results  [00:05:29] Reconnect: giving God permission to search your heart  [00:08:45] Test me and know my anxious thoughts  [00:11:57] Realignment: performance, perfectionism, pride, & fear  [00:14:44] Journal prompts and the path forward  Memorable Quotes "So what's in our heart is going to be a part of what we think, what we believe, and that's going to determine how we act.'" [00:07:53] – Kimberly A "Even though things are messy, we can still build in the mess. The daily reps produce the results." How to Make Better Decisions: Bring God's Word Into Every Choice

A snowstorm, a rushed meeting, and a response I immediately regretted exposed a gap in my own foundation. What felt like an ordinary leadership moment became a pruning season that reshaped how I lead, make decisions, and show up every day. This episode is not about perfection, but about the principle that holds everything else together when life gets loud and the to-do list gets long: abide first, build from there. It's become my rhythm, my recalibration, and a reminder that the fruit I'm meant to bear doesn't come from my capability. It comes from my connection. If you've ever felt like you're running on fumes, leading from an empty place, or wondering why the momentum isn't translating into meaning, I hope this conversation encourages you to return to what matters most. Key Timestamps: [00:00:00] Introduction [00:01:15] The management meeting that went sideways [00:03:42] "Remember that day" [00:05:58] John 15: The vine, the branches, and the pruning [00:08:11] What it means to abide first in daily life [00:10:24] Make the Word your first input, not your phone [00:13:47] What to do when you drift from your reading plan [00:17:02] Journal prompts: Am I starting my day with the Word first? [00:18:35] The fruit you bear comes from your connection, not your capability Memorable Quotes "Eventually, our lives turn up dry if we're not watering and staying connected to the vine. It can be a branch that's just hanging there, but it's not bearing fruit.'" [00:07:41] – Kimberly Allen "That fruit does not come from your capability. It comes from your connection with your Lord." When Truth Costs You: John Adams and the Courage to Stand

John Adams defended British soldiers after the Boston Massacre. He pushed for independence when others hesitated. He chose peace with France when his own party wanted war. Nearly every decision cost him something, but he believed principle mattered more than applause. As America celebrates its 250th birthday, I've found myself reflecting on Adams' life and the biblical convictions that shaped his leadership. This isn't just a history lesson for me, but also a question I'm wrestling with right now: What does it look like to stand on principle when standing alone is the only option? In this episode, I share why Adams' example still matters today, how faith informed the choices he made, and why I believe the strength of a nation has never rested in its monuments, but in the character of its people and in their belief in God. This episode is part prayer, part tribute, and part challenge. I hope it encourages you to consider what it means to lead with conviction, even when it comes at a cost. Key Timestamps: [00:00:00] Introduction [00:01:21] America at 250 [00:01:39] Honoring John Adams [00:03:18] The Boston Massacre [00:04:12] Adams' Biblical Principles [00:05:21] Principles of Liberty [00:07:17] A Tribute to America [00:08:30] A Prayer for the Nation Memorable Quotes "America's history has known triumphs and trials, victories and lessons, yet through it all, the enduring ideals of liberty, justice, and opportunity have continued to inspire." [00:07:34] – Kimber Allen  "The strength of this nation has never rested solely in its monuments and institutions, but in the character of its people and in the belief of her God." Stop Blending In: You Were Made on Purpose for a Purpose

I get personal about the question that stopped me cold: "Who are you?" Not what you do or how someone knows you. But who you actually are. It's the kind of question that should be easy to answer, yet so many of us freeze when we're asked. In this episode, I walk through two scriptures that completely reframed identity for me: Psalm 139 and Ephesians 2:10. One says you're fearfully made, which in Hebrew means you inspire awe. The other calls you God's handiwork, a word that translates from Greek as poem. Not a work in progress, but a finished creative work expressing something specific about the nature of God. This conversation isn't about finding yourself, but remembering who you were before the noise, the algorithms, and the identity crisis ever started. I also share three practical audits that can help you stop blending in and start living like the unrepeatable person God created you to be. Key Timestamps [00:00:00] Introduction [00:01:18] What "fearfully made" really means [00:04:18] The question: "Who are you?" [00:06:12] Made on purpose, for a purpose [00:07:45] Identity Audit #1: What God keeps confirming [00:10:45] Identity Audit #2: Check your influences [00:11:30] Identity Audit #3: Say it out loud [00:13:15] The rhythm of growth and change Memorable Quotes "You are God's poem. You're not a work in progress waiting to be worth something. You're a finished creative expressing something specific about the nature of God." [00:03:22]  – Kimber Allen  "I was made on purpose for a purpose, and I don't have to have it all figured out to move forward." [00:11:45] – Kimber Allen And if you're ready to build that life more intentionally, I'd love for you to join me in the Build It Messy Skool community, where we believe beautiful lives aren't built perfectly, but built honestly, faith-first, and with the courage to start before you're ready. Better Not Bitter When Bitterness Takes Root

I’m getting honest about a heavy day. The kind where I’m carrying burdens for people I love, feeling the weight of unmet expectations, and wondering whether I’m planting bitterness or growth in the middle of it all. In this episode, I take you with me to a moment on a bike trail, a stubborn rose bush growing under a deck, and a realization that shifted my perspective: sometimes being moved to new soil isn’t punishment, but grace. This isn’t about toxic positivity or pretending everything is fine. It’s about the choice between becoming bitter or becoming better, and how that one little letter, the “I,” can make all the difference. I share what I’ve been learning about what we water, what we bury, and what can happen when bitterness quietly takes root without us even realizing it. If you’ve ever felt stuck, replanted, disappointed, or like you’re holding on to something that’s actually holding you back, I think this conversation will resonate with you. My hope is that it encourages you to look at your circumstances through a different lens and reminds you that growth is still possible, even in the places you never expected to bloom. Key Timestamps:  [00:00:00] Introduction[00:01:15] Bitter or Better? [00:02:45] A Heavy Day on the Trail [00:04:30] The Rose Bush Lesson [00:07:20] Replanted in New Soil [00:09:15] "I'm Going the Right Direction" [00:10:45] Why Roses Keep Blooming [00:12:00] The Danger of Bitter Roots [00:13:30] Choosing Better Over Bitter Memorable Quotes: "Am I going to get bitter through this process or am I going to get better? And the letter that's different in those two words is the letter I and I need to decide what my choices are going to be and which direction I'm going to go into today." [00:03:30] – Kimber Allen "Instead of framing it like you can't do this or you're not learning this fast enough, why don't you frame it like I'm going in the right direction and I’m getting it." [00:07:58] – Kimber Allen If you're ready to keep building that kind of life alongside other women who are choosing faith over perfection, courage over waiting, and honest growth over having it all figured out, I’d love for you to join me inside Build It Messy, my Skool community. Inside the Prayer Closet: How One Woman's Faith Shaped Generations

What if the prayers you pray today could impact generations you'll never meet? I share the story of my great-grandmother, Susan, a mother of 14 who would disappear into a closet under the stairs to pray for generations she would never meet. Those prayers are still speaking today. This episode isn't about having it all together before you start building a legacy, but the messy, faithful practice of praying out loud, talking about your faith, and leaving behind artifacts that outlive your voice. If you're exhausted, questioning, or wondering whether your voice still matters, I want to remind you that a legacy is being built right now in the middle of your everyday life. In this conversation, I share three practical tools that have helped me think differently about legacy and faithfulness, simple ways to leave fingerprints on the future, even when you're too tired to think about it. Key Timestamps:  [00:00:00] Introduction [00:04:23] Susan's Legacy of Prayer [00:06:38] Living in Answered Prayers [00:07:18] Meeting You in the Mess [00:09:12] Tool #1: Pray Out Loud [00:10:32] The Prayer Wall Practice [00:11:18] Tool #2: Share Your Faith [00:13:42] Tool #3: Write It Down [00:15:42] Remembering with Rocks [00:16:48] "I Visited with Jesus" [00:18:05] Leaving Fingerprints on the Future Memorable Quotes: "News flash, you're already passing it on. Someone's already watching you. Someone is already building from what you're leaving behind" [00:07:14] – Kimber Allen "Isn't that so cool that long after we're gone, our prayers can be the fingerprints that we leave on the future generations." [00:17:20] – Kimber Allen And if you're ready to keep building that legacy alongside other women who are choosing faith over perfection, I'd love to welcome you into my Skool community, where we embrace the truth that beautiful lives aren't built perfectly, they're built honestly, faith-first, and with the courage to start before you're ready: https://www.skool.com/build-it-messy-3088 Links Mentioned In This Episode: 30-Minute Discovery Call: https://calendly.com/kimberlyaproductions Connect with Kimber Allen: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/kimberlya.co Produced by Evolved Podcasting: www.evolvedpodcasting.com
