Whatever You Do, Do It for Him - Devotional #81

Whatever You Do, Do It for Him Scripture: Colossians 3:23 — “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” Devotional: This verse is one of the clearest summaries of work as worship. “Whatever you do”—paid or unpaid, visible or unseen, ordinary or complex—is an opportunity to serve the Lord. Your true Boss is not on earth; He is in heaven. Working “as for the Lord” changes everything. It transforms how you approach unwanted tasks, difficult people, or unseen efforts. You’re no longer working just for a paycheck, a performance review, or human recognition. You’re working to honor the One who saved you, loves you, and empowers you. This doesn’t mean earthly supervisors don’t matter; it means they’re not ultimate. You can respect authority, fulfill responsibilities, and pursue excellence without becoming enslaved to others’ opinions. Your heart is anchored in God. When you work heartily for Him, your daily responsibilities become an altar of worship. Reflection Questions: How might your attitude shift if you truly saw the Lord as your ultimate “boss”?What tasks feel especially hard to do “heartily” right now?How could you intentionally offer your work today as worship to God?Prayer: Lord, help me remember that I ultimately work for You. Teach me to do my tasks heartily, not for human applause but to honor Your name. Let my work today be an expression of love and worship to You. Amen. www.TheDivinePurposeOfWork.com Copyright 2025 Workplace Ministries, Inc.

Hope Beyond the Brokenness - Devotional #80

Hope Beyond the Brokenness Scripture: Revelation 21:5 — “And He who was seated on the throne said, ‘Behold, I am making all things new.’” Devotional: As you reach the end of this section on the Fall, frustration, and hope, lift your eyes to the end of the story. Jesus will one day make “all things new.” That includes you, your coworkers, your work, your industry, and the systems that feel so broken today. You live between the “already” and the “not yet.” Christ has already defeated sin and death, but the full renewal of all things is still to come. In this in-between time, you experience both beauty and brokenness, success and struggle, joy and grief at work. Yet your hope is secure: the One seated on the throne is actively making all things new. This hope does not lead to passivity; it empowers perseverance. You can work with integrity in a corrupt culture, serve with love in a selfish environment, and labor with joy in a weary world because you know how the story ends. Your everyday faithfulness is part of God’s larger renewal project. Reflection Questions: Where have you most felt the brokenness of work in this season? How does the promise that Jesus is making all things new strengthen your hope? What does it mean for you to live and work as someone who knows the end of the story?Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You that You are making all things new. When I see the brokenness of work, anchor my heart in Your promise. Help me live and labor with hope, knowing that my faithfulness today is part of Your eternal story. Amen. www.TheDivinePurposeOfWork.com Copyright 2025 Workplace Ministries, Inc.

Jesus and the Thorns of Work - Devotional #79

Jesus and the Thorns of Work Scripture: Matthew 27:29 — “And twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on His head…” Devotional: Back in Genesis, thorns were part of the curse—evidence that the ground would resist human labor. In Matthew, a crown of thorns is pressed onto Jesus’ head as He goes to the cross. The symbol of the curse is placed on the Savior. This is not accidental; it is profoundly meaningful. Jesus not only died for “spiritual” sins; He entered into every aspect of our brokenness—including the frustrations of work. The One who wore the crown of thorns understands the sweat, stress, and sorrow of labor in a fallen world. He took the curse upon Himself so that, ultimately, all things—including work—could be redeemed. This doesn’t mean work is now easy. But it does mean your toil is not the final word. Because of Jesus, your labor is no longer meaningless drudgery under a curse; it becomes meaningful service under grace. One day, thorns will be gone. Until then, you work in the shadow of the cross and in the hope of resurrection. Reflection Questions: How does seeing Jesus wear a crown of thorns change the way you view the frustrations of work?Where do you need to remember that He has entered into your workplace struggles? How does His sacrifice give you hope for the redemption of your work?Prayer: Jesus, thank You for bearing the curse—even the “thorns” of my work—on the cross. Help me remember that my labor is now under Your grace, not under condemnation. Fill me with hope as I work in light of Your death and resurrection. Amen. www.TheDivinePurposeOfWork.com Copyright 2025 Workplace Ministries, Inc.

Trusting Tomorrow to the God Who Holds Time - Devotional (Sunday Edition)

Trusting Tomorrow to the God Who Holds Time Scripture "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens." Ecclesiastes 3:1. Devotional As this day of rest comes to a close, another week stands before you. You may have plans, goals, deadlines, and expectations. Some will unfold just as you hope. Others may take unexpected turns. Still others may require more waiting than you anticipated. God already knows every moment of the coming week. Nothing will surprise Him. He is never early, never late, and never caught off guard by circumstances that leave us confused or discouraged. One of the greatest gifts we can carry into a new week is confidence that God is both sovereign and perfectly timely. He knows when to open doors. He knows when to close them. He knows when to ask us to move forward and when to ask us to remain where we are. Our responsibility is not to control the calendar. Our responsibility is to remain faithful today. Jesus repeatedly taught His followers not to become consumed with tomorrow. Instead, He invited them to seek first God's Kingdom and trust their heavenly Father for everything else. As you prepare for the coming week, release your timeline to the Lord. Walk faithfully. Serve diligently. Pray consistently. Trust completely. The God who authored your calling also governs your calendar. You can rest because your future is already in His hands. Reflection Questions What future event or outcome am I most anxious to see happen? How might God be inviting me to focus on faithfulness instead of timing? What does trusting God's calendar look like in the week ahead? How can I encourage someone else who is waiting on God? Action Step Before tomorrow begins, write one sentence of surrender: "Lord, I trust Your timing with __________________." Fill in the blank with the area where patience is most difficult, and read that statement each morning throughout the coming week. Prayer Lord, thank You that every season of my life is held securely in Your hands. Help me release my own timetable and embrace Yours. Give me peace when answers are delayed, courage when opportunities require patience, and joy as I faithfully serve You today. May I enter this new week trusting not my schedule, but Your perfect plan. In Jesus' name, Amen. www.TheDivinePurposeOfWork.com Copyright 2025 Workplace Ministries, Inc.

God Is Working While I Wait - Devotional (Saturday Edition)

God Is Working While I Wait Scripture "But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint." Isaiah 40:31. Devotional Few parts of our faith are more difficult than waiting. We naturally want immediate answers, quick solutions, and visible progress. We pray for opportunities and expect doors to open tomorrow. We ask God for direction and hope for instant clarity. But God's work is often accomplished in seasons of waiting. Looking back over this week, perhaps you've been waiting for a promotion, a new client, healing in a relationship, financial provision, clearer direction, or an answer to a prayer that seems to remain unanswered. Waiting can feel unproductive. Yet throughout Scripture, waiting is rarely wasted. Abraham waited for God's promise. Joseph waited through years of imprisonment. David waited before becoming king. Even Jesus spent years preparing before beginning His public ministry. During those seasons, God was not absent. He was preparing His servants for what lay ahead. The same is true for you. God often does His deepest work in your character before He changes your circumstances. He develops patience, humility, perseverance, trust, and dependence—qualities that cannot be produced overnight. The blessing you're waiting for is important, but the person God is shaping you into while you wait is even more important. As you reflect on this week, resist the temptation to measure God's activity only by visible results. He may be accomplishing His greatest work beneath the surface. Waiting is not God's delay. Sometimes waiting is God's preparation. Reflection Questions Where in my life am I struggling to wait on God's timing? Have I mistaken God's silence for His absence? What qualities might God be developing in me during this season? How have I seen God prepare me through previous seasons of waiting? Action Step Identify one area where you've become impatient with God's timing. Rather than asking God to hurry, ask Him to show you what He wants to teach you while you wait. Prayer Father, waiting is difficult for me. I often want immediate answers and quick solutions. Help me trust that Your timing is always perfect. Teach me to see waiting not as wasted time but as an opportunity for You to shape my heart. Give me patience, perseverance, and confidence that You are working even when I cannot yet see it. Amen. www.TheDivinePurposeOfWork.com Copyright 2025 Workplace Ministries, Inc.

Spiritual Dryness in a Busy Season - Devotional #78

Spiritual Dryness in a Busy Season Scripture: Psalm 63:1 — “O God, You are my God; earnestly I seek You; my soul thirsts for You…” Devotional: Long, demanding seasons at work can leave you spiritually dry. You rush from task to task, and your time with God feels shallow, rushed, or almost nonexistent. You may feel guilty, distant, or numb, wondering, What’s wrong with me? Dryness doesn’t always mean rebellion; sometimes it simply reveals how much you need God in the midst of your busyness. The psalmist’s thirst for God came in a “dry and weary land.” He didn’t wait to feel full before seeking the Lord—he sought Him because he felt empty. In busy seasons, you may need to adjust your expectations—not abandoning time with God, but reshaping it. Short, sincere prayers; Scripture on your commute; a verse on your desk; a few moments of quiet before a meeting—these can be lifelines. God meets you in the small spaces. He is not far from you; He is near to the thirsty. Reflection Questions: Do you feel spiritually dry right now? What has contributed to that dryness? How could you build small but meaningful moments with God into your current rhythm? What might you need to say no to in order to say a deeper yes to Him?Prayer: Lord, my soul feels dry and distracted. I confess my need for You. Meet me in the middle of my busyness. Teach me to seek You in small moments and restore my hunger for Your presence and Your Word. Amen.  www.TheDivinePurposeOfWork.com Copyright 2025 Workplace Ministries, Inc.

Conflict That Won’t Go Away - Devotional #77

Conflict That Won’t Go Away Scripture: Romans 12:18 — “If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.” Devotional: Some conflicts at work resolve quickly; others linger. A strained relationship, a history of offense, or ongoing tension can make even simple interactions feel heavy. You may replay conversations in your mind, dread certain meetings, or think, Will this ever get better? God’s Word acknowledges that peace is sometimes complex: “If possible… so far as it depends on you.” You are responsible for your part—not for controlling others’ responses. Your calling is to pursue peace through honesty, humility, forgiveness, and appropriate boundaries where needed. Living peaceably doesn’t mean becoming a doormat or pretending everything is fine. It means you seek reconciliation where possible, refuse to nurture bitterness, and keep entrusting the relationship to God. Even if full harmony never comes, you can walk in a clear conscience, knowing you’ve sought to honor Christ. Reflection Questions: Is there a lingering conflict at work that weighs on you?Have you done “so far as it depends on you” to pursue peace—prayer, apology, honest conversation, forgiveness? What might be your next step of obedience, even if the other person doesn’t respond as you hope?Prayer: Lord, You know the conflicts I face. Show me where I need to repent, forgive, or reach out. Help me do what I can to live at peace, and give me grace to trust You with what I cannot change. Amen. www.TheDivinePurposeOfWork.com Copyright 2025 Workplace Ministries, Inc.

Burnout and the God Who Sees - Devotional #76

Burnout and the God Who Sees Scripture: Psalm 61:2 — “…when my heart is faint, lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” Devotional: Burnout doesn’t come overnight. It builds slowly—chronic stress, emotional exhaustion, compassion fatigue, and a sense that no matter what you do, it’s never enough. You may feel numb, irritable, or detached from work you once cared about. In those moments, it can be hard to pray or even think clearly. God sees you when your heart is faint. He doesn’t wait for you to “pull it together” before He draws near. He invites you to come to Him as you are—tired, discouraged, drained—and let Him lead you to the rock that is higher than you. That rock is not a new productivity system; it is Himself. Sometimes addressing burnout requires practical changes: boundaries, rest, conversations, counseling, even job transitions. But whatever steps you take, the foundation is the same—returning to the God who is your refuge. Your worth is not in how much you do, but in whose you are. Reflection Questions: Do you see signs of burnout or deep exhaustion in your life right now? What might God be inviting you to lay down, change, or surrender?Who could you talk to—a friend, pastor, counselor—about how you’re really doing?Prayer: Lord, You see when my heart is faint. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. Show me where I need to rest, reset, or seek help, and remind me that my value comes from You, not my output. Amen. www.TheDivinePurposeOfWork.com Copyright 2025 Workplace Ministries, Inc.
