The Foxbody Den Show Episode #26-C - Joe Cruz: From an ’86 LX to a Garage Full of Cobras

93 Cobras, gold wheels, insane car hunts, late-night road trips, and a Foxbody crew that became family—this is the story of Joe Cruz. In this episode of The Foxbody Den Show, John Kolbaska and Ryan Jugdeo sit down with Joe Cruz to talk about the cars, friendships, music, and experiences that have made him one of the most recognizable personalities in the New York Foxbody scene. Joe’s story goes all the way back to his first 1986 Mustang LX in the late ’90s. What started with backyard modifications eventually turned into years of buying, selling, trading, modifying, and hunting down some seriously desirable Mustangs—including multiple 1993 Cobras, a black-on-black Cobra, a Teal Cobra, a Mystic Cobra, and plenty of other cars along the way. And Joe has stories behind almost every one of them. We get into the cross-state car hunts, deals that almost didn’t happen, stolen-recovery title drama, cars he wishes he kept, and why he’s always been attracted to clean Mustangs that have the right combination of stance, wheels, sound, and presence rather than simply chasing the biggest horsepower number. Joe also shares the story behind the gold wheels that became part of his signature style and his history building serious audio systems—including award-winning setups in his Mustangs and Impala. Then there’s The Four Horsemen. Joe talks about how a group of friends with the same obsession became a traveling Foxbody crew—hitting events, putting miles on the cars, helping each other when things went wrong, and creating the kind of memories that eventually become more important than the cars themselves. The guys also dive into how Foxbody styling has changed over the years. Huge hoods, body kits, and heavily modified looks have slowly given way to cleaner OEM+ builds, larger wheels, better stance, subtle details, and cars that look modified without losing what made them a Foxbody in the first place. We also talk Foxtoberfest, why Joe refuses to miss it, the growing value and popularity of 1993 Cobras and Mystichrome Cobras, and what’s happening right now in the Foxbody Mustang community. But underneath all the car talk, this episode is really about the people. The friends who drive hundreds of miles together. The guy who helps when your car breaks. The late nights in the garage. The road trips. The ridiculous stories. And how an obsession with old Mustangs can turn strangers into lifelong friends. If you're into Foxbody Mustangs, 1993 Cobras, SVT Cobras, Mystichrome Cobras, Mustang builds, car audio, OEM+ builds, Foxtoberfest, or old-school New York car culture, you’re going to enjoy this one. 🔥 Subscribe to The Foxbody Den Show for weekly Foxbody Mustang conversations, owner stories, incredible builds, event coverage, special guests, and the people behind the cars. Only coming to Foxtoberfest for the main show? You might be missing the best part. In this episode of **The Foxbody Den Show**, John, Lee CCWFOX, and Ray sit down with Jenn from Foxy Events to preview Foxtoberfest 2026, happening October 20–24 in Concord, North Carolina. From the early-week hangouts to the main show, this conversation is about making the most of the entire experience—not just walking the show field. Jenn walks us through the plans for the week, starting with Tuesday’s kickoff and heading into a Wednesday packed with the Morrow Mountain cruise, a planned police escort, and the Foxes on Union block party in downtown Concord. Then comes Thursday’s Bash at the Brewery, with music, food, underglow, and plenty of time to catch up with the people behind the cars. And Friday isn’t just a day to clean your car for Saturday. We get into the drag racing at Mooresville Dragway, race classes, buy-ins, payouts, the burnout contest, and the swap meet. Whether you’re making passes, watching the action, or hunting for that part your project still needs, there’s plenty happening before the main show even begins. Still waiting until your Fox is “finished” before bringing it out? The Work in Progress section is a reminder that you don’t need a flawless build to belong. Jenn also discusses the Vixen, Future of Fox, T-Top, Cobra, SVO, and other specialty sections that bring different corners of the community together. We also talk about the **Built vs Bought showcase**, featuring standout Foxbody builds and the stories behind them—an opportunity to hear about the decisions, challenges, and craftsmanship you can’t see just by walking past a parked car. Beyond the schedule, Jenn shares how Foxtoberfest has become a reason to finish long-term projects, get the car out of the garage, and turn online friendships into real ones. The conversation also looks ahead to 2028 and the anniversary plans giving builders another reason to get moving. Whether this will be your first Foxtoberfest or you’ve been making the trip for years, this episode gives you a closer look at what’s planned and why showing up early deserves serious consideration. The Foxbody Den Show Episode #25 - Boost or N/A? What Makes the PERFECT Street Foxbody?

Supercharger, turbo, or naturally aspirated—which setup actually makes the BEST street Foxbody? Forget dyno-sheet bragging rights. In this episode of The Foxbody Den Show, John, Ryan, Lee and Ray get into the real-world differences between these combinations: how they drive, how they sound, what they cost, and how much aggravation you're willing to tolerate to make power. Lee breaks down why he keeps coming back to Vortech and ProCharger setups, his preference for air-to-air intercooling, and what he's learned after owning supercharged, turbocharged, and naturally aspirated combinations. Ray shares his experience running a Vortech V3 with Heritage gears and why that unmistakable supercharger whine is a huge part of the experience. Ryan makes the case for Coyote power, including Gen 2 and Gen 3 combinations capable of making serious horsepower while still being usable on the street. Then come the turbos. The guys get into the upside of turbo power—and the headaches nobody talks about enough: hot-side packaging, oiling issues, scavenger pumps, heat, complexity, and all the little problems that can turn a killer setup into a car you're constantly working on instead of driving. And don't count out the old-school combinations. The naturally aspirated discussion gets into cubic inches, compression, camshaft selection, throttle response, and why there's still something special about a nasty pushrod motor that doesn't need boost to be fun. But horsepower isn't the only argument this week. John brings up a problem almost every modified Foxbody owner eventually deals with: Does the car actually need to sit lower—or did changing the wheels and tires just make it LOOK like it does? The guys break down stance, rake, spring isolators, tire sizing, wheel fitment, and the difference between getting a car low and getting it to sit RIGHT. We also pull opinions directly from The Foxbody Den community and dive into the growing SN95 and New Edge movement—Cobras, Saleens, FR500s, tri-bars, Whistlers, wheel choices, styling, and why the 1994-2004 cars are getting more attention than ever. This is real Mustang bench racing: different experiences, different opinions, and no pretending there's one perfect answer. If you're into Foxbody Mustangs, SN95s, New Edges, Coyote swaps, Vortech superchargers, ProChargers, turbo builds, naturally aspirated pushrod motors, wheel fitment, stance, or Mustang performance, you're going to have an opinion on this one. 🔥 Subscribe to The Foxbody Den Show for weekly Foxbody Mustang discussions, builds, owner stories, event coverage, special guests, and unfiltered conversations from inside the community. You're building ONE street Fox and have to live with it for the next five years: SUPERCHARGER, TURBO, or N/A? Pick one and tell us WHY in the comments.

The Foxbody Den Show Episode #24 - Hatch vs Notch + The Mustang Ford SHOULD Build

Hatchback or notchback? Big brakes or clean wheels? And could Ford ever build a modern Foxbody that enthusiasts would actually want? In this episode of The Foxbody Den Show, John, Ryan, and Lee dive into the kind of Foxbody debates that never stay friendly for long. The guys start with the latest Foxbody Den Cars & Coffee in North Jersey—the turnout, the cars, the people, and why getting enthusiasts together in person matters more than likes, followers, or internet hype. The Foxbody community is growing, but the real strength of the scene is still the people who show up. Then the opinions start flying. The crew gets into hatchback vs. notchback, rare Foxbody colors, collectible trims, standout builds, wheel choices, and the love-hate relationship that comes with big brake kits. Sure, they look incredible and stop hard—but anyone constantly cleaning brake dust knows there’s another side to that story. From there, the conversation shifts to the future of the Mustang. Why do so many enthusiasts still connect more with a 30-plus-year-old Foxbody than some brand-new Mustangs? And if Ford decided to create a modern Foxbody-inspired Mustang today, what would it actually need to be? Simple? Lightweight? Affordable? Easy to modify? Or has the market moved too far away from what made the Foxbody great in the first place? Frank’s idea for a modernized Fox-inspired car adds even more fuel to the conversation as the guys debate what they’d want Ford to build, what they’d actually pay for it, and what would immediately ruin the concept. If you love Foxbody Mustangs, SN95s, New Edges, Mustang builds, car meets, rare colors, custom cars, or just listening to car guys argue about things nobody will ever fully agree on, this episode is for you. 🔥 Subscribe to The Foxbody Den Show for weekly Foxbody Mustang conversations, community stories, builds, events, special guests, market talk, and everything happening inside the Foxbody world. Now settle the argument in the comments: HATCH or NOTCH? Looks only. No horsepower, rarity, or value allowed.

The Foxbody Den Show Episode #23 - The Cheap Foxbody Era Is DEAD

$279,000 for a Foxbody Mustang?! Have Foxbody prices officially lost their minds—or are these cars finally getting the recognition they deserve? In this episode of The Foxbody Den Show, John Kolbaska, Ryan Jugdeo, Ray, Lee CCWFOX, and special guest Aaron AKA FOXJUNK dive headfirst into one of the biggest debates happening in the Mustang community right now: What are these cars REALLY worth? The conversation starts with a Velocity-built Foxbody listed at an unbelievable $279,000 and quickly turns into a much bigger discussion about where the Foxbody market is headed—and why comparing today's prices to what these cars cost 10 or 20 years ago doesn't tell the whole story. Because buying the car is only the beginning. The guys break down the REAL cost of building a Foxbody today: paint and bodywork, engines, transmissions, suspension, wheels, interiors, rare parts, fabrication, and especially labor. That $5,000 project sitting on Marketplace can become a $30,000+ headache incredibly fast—and that's before you start upgrading everything you swore you were going to leave alone. It raises an important question: Is buying a finished, properly built Foxbody actually cheaper than building one yourself? Aaron also shares the story behind his incredible Mystichrome Cobra, what went into building it, and why rare, documented, and properly executed cars are becoming increasingly difficult to replace. The conversation expands beyond Foxbodies into 1993 Cobras, Mystichrome Cobras, SN95s, Saleens, low-mileage survivors, rare colors, unusual interior combinations, and the cars we believe enthusiasts may eventually regret not buying while they still had the chance. We also get into combinations that collectors obsess over—from teal and cloth interiors to Strawberry Red cars—and why originality, condition, documentation, mileage, and the right options can completely change what seemingly similar Mustangs are worth. And then comes the controversial question: Are the best Foxbody builds starting to compete for the same buyers as high-end restomods, modern GTDs, and exotic cars? Whether you're looking to buy your first Foxbody, considering selling one, sitting on a low-mileage Mustang, or halfway through a build that's already blown past the original budget, this episode will probably make you rethink what these cars actually cost—and what they're actually worth. 🔥 Subscribe to The Foxbody Den Show for weekly Foxbody Mustang content, market discussions, incredible builds, owner stories, special guests, event coverage, and real conversations from inside the Mustang community. Would you EVER pay $279,000 for a Foxbody? And if not—what's the absolute MOST you believe a Foxbody could realistically be worth? Drop your number in the comments.

The Foxbody Den Show Episode #22 - He Built the Entire Foxbody Backwards… And It Worked

How does a tiny piece of plaid fabric turn into a 750+ horsepower Foxbody build? Mitch Grace built the entire car around it—and says he’ll NEVER build another one. In this episode of The Foxbody Den Show, John Kolbaska, Ryan Jugdeo, and Lee CCWFOX sit down with Mitch Grace to get the full story behind his incredible Shelter Green Foxbody convertible—one of those builds where the longer you look, the more details you find. What started as a relatively simple project using a donor car quickly spiraled into something completely different. Mitch explains his unusual inside-out approach to building cars, starting with the interior before choosing the exterior color. A small plaid material sample from Relicate became the inspiration that eventually determined the entire personality of the car—from the custom interior and Shelter Green paint to the wheels, brakes, and color-matched details throughout the build. Then there’s the drivetrain. The original plan called for a 363 pushrod combination, but like most Foxbody projects, the plan didn't survive. The car eventually received a Coyote swap with a Whipple supercharger, putting down an impressive 751 horsepower to the wheels. Mitch takes us through the entire evolution of the build, including the donor car, the infamous time spent in “paint jail,” finding the right wheels, brake fitment, choosing colors, and the endless decisions that transformed what was supposed to be a fun driver into something far more serious. But this episode isn't just about horsepower and expensive parts. We get into the tiny details that can completely change a Foxbody—the things most people don't notice until they're standing next to the car. Mitch explains how he approaches colors, textures, materials, wheel selection, and interior design to make the entire car feel like one complete idea instead of a collection of cool parts. The conversation also gets into Foxtoberfest, upcoming Foxbody builds, favorite cars in the community, and why some builds keep pulling you back for another look while others are easy to walk past. And ultimately, that's what makes this hobby addictive. The cars bring everyone together, but it's the people, stories, late-night hangouts, build ideas, and friendships that keep us coming back. If you're into Foxbody Mustangs, Coyote swaps, Whipple superchargers, custom interiors, paint and bodywork, wheel fitment, high-end builds, or Mustang culture, there's a ton to unpack in this episode. 🔥 Subscribe to The Foxbody Den Show for weekly Foxbody Mustang content, owner stories, build breakdowns, event coverage, special guests, and real conversations from inside the Foxbody community. The Foxbody Den Show Episode #21 - His Dad Bought It New in 1987… Look at It Now

What makes a Foxbody truly special—the horsepower, the build, or the story behind it? Gus has all three. In this episode of The Foxbody Den Show, John Kolbaska, Ryan Jugdeo, Ray De la Cruz, and Lee CCWFOX sit down with Gus to talk about the incredible story behind his black Foxbody hatchback—a car that has been in his family since his dad bought it new in 1987. After turning heads at Motor City Fox Fest, Gus joins us to tell the story of a Foxbody that has survived nearly four decades, multiple transformations, and eventually received the heart of a wrecked 2004 SVT Terminator Cobra. Today, the car makes around 700 horsepower and has already run 10-second passes at 138 MPH, but the story behind the build is what makes this one different. Gus takes us through the evolution of the car, why he chose to keep the solid rear axle instead of converting to IRS, the 3.73 gear setup, fiberglass hatch, roll cage, rear-seat delete, and the decisions that transformed a family-owned Foxbody into a serious street and strip car without losing its history. The conversation also turns to the rapidly changing Foxbody Mustang market. John and Ryan talk about what clean, properly built cars are actually selling for today, why some of the best Foxbodies never make it to Facebook Marketplace, and how quickly prices have changed as more people start chasing high-quality cars. Then the debate gets going: Coyote swaps vs. Godzilla builds vs. old-school pushrod power vs. Terminator swaps. Every combination has its fans, but does changing the drivetrain change the personality of the car—or is the Foxbody itself what gives these cars their soul? Beyond the horsepower, Gus shares how his wife helped make sure the Mustang stayed in the family, his experiences working in private aviation, and how another generation of his family is already developing the same obsession with Mustangs, trucks, and car culture. This episode has everything we love about the Foxbody community—family history, drag racing, horsepower, rising values, different opinions, great stories, and plenty of bench racing. 🔥 Subscribe to The Foxbody Den Show for weekly Foxbody Mustang content, incredible builds, owner stories, event coverage, special guests, and real conversations from inside the community.
