Guest Booker #14 | Terry Taylor

It’s 1987 and Jim Crockett Promotions is about to claim ownership of Bill Watts’ legendary territory. With that will come an influx of talent from Watts’ roster. In reality, that purchase was rather unspectacular and nothing interesting was ever made of the acquisition. But through the magic of Guest Booker, we will have Terry Taylor, a booker who has worked creatively for WWE, WCW, and TNA, analyze the purchase and use his talents to try and conjur up a more compelling use of the expanded roster. Taylor was working for UWF at the time of the purchase, but we ask him to switch hats and display the skills and philosophies that made him such a valuable creative force in the eyes of the bosses at pro wrestling’s majors. Timeline WCW #10 | Rock ’n’ Roll Express | 1986

1986 was a great year, with record gates, a record Starrcade, and a healthy roster of huge stars. The guests for this edition were supporting JCP. Ricky and Robert are on their way back in time to the glory days of WCW. You need to know everything about the road, the roster, the women, and the tag titles. It was the best of times for the RnR, despite the revelation of repeated efforts of a certain charismatic booker to break up the team and bury the two guys he was sharing the babyface spotlight with. Back To The Territories #06 | Baron Von Raschke | Indianapolis

Often overlooked due to the proximity to Verne Gagne’s AWA, Dick the Bruiser’s WWA saw huge talent pass through in the 1960s and 70s. Based in Indianapolis, Indiana, WWA saw Bruiser hook up with his tag team “cousin” Crusher, a young manager named Bobby Hennan break-in, a famous angle with football pro-Alex Karras, and more that you probably didn’t attribute to Bruiser’s WWA.Join host Jim Cornette and one of the stars of Bruiser’s territory, Baron Von Raschke, as we dig deep into the life and times of William Afflis, know to us all as Dick the Bruiser, and his WWA. Dick called the shots along with partner Wilbur Snyder and crowned himself the territory’s champion. Are you gonna argue with the toughest wrestler ever about his booking decisions?!Fire up the Delorean again and head back to another time and place as we speed back to Indiana years ago!00:00 The Rise of Dick the Bruiser01:52 Dick the Bruiser's Wrestling Career02:43 Bruiser's Legendary Matches and Feuds03:21 The Bruiser's Infamous Incidents04:12 The Legacy of Dick the Bruiser05:08 Introduction to Back to the Territories05:31 Interview with Baron Von Raschke05:58 Dick the Bruiser as a Boss06:59 Wilbur Snyder's Role and Personality10:43 The Formation of the WWA13:47 The Talent and Matches of the WWA15:46 Baron Von Raschke's Early Career20:07 Bobby Heenan's Influence22:52 The WWA's TV and Live Events38:51 Expansion into Detroit48:09 The Legendary Cowboy Bob Ellis49:46 Bob Ellis's Hairpiece and Bleeding Stories51:08 The Infamous Horse Story53:05 Favorite Wrestling Partners and Matches53:28 The Bruiser and Crusher Era57:14 The Decline of Indianapolis Wrestling59:27 Memorable Wrestling Characters and Stories01:05:39 The End of an Era01:07:44 Reflecting on Wrestling Legends01:26:02 Bobby Heenan's Impact01:32:19 Final Thoughts on Indianapolis Wrestling
