She Said She’d Be Back in an Hour. Then She Vanished. | Case #2 Teaser

Alright, so it goes like this: Three calls. The first at 13:30, to say she had met her lunch date. The second at 17:00, to say she was being taken to the sea. The third at 19:00, to say she would be back within the hour. Then nothing. That nothing lasted two hundred and twenty-three days. It ended in a cave, and years later it ended again in a verdict that split the case in two. My name is William Invisoler. My goal is to solve a crime in every nation in the world. After I finished covering the case I was working on in the States, I got a call last week to head to Japan. Specifically Tokyo. They told me a twenty-one-year-old woman from Sevenoaks, Kent, had walked out of a flat in Roppongi to meet a man whose name nobody had, made three phone calls, and then stopped existing. They say it was the case that put a British prime minister on the phone about one missing girl. The locals called it the Lucie Blackman case.

The DARK Case of the Strangler Who Mailed Police His Own Evidence for 30 Years (Redux)

In our first instalment of D.A.R.K Cases, we look at an event where for thirty years, a man named himself, signed his own letters to the police, and mailed them to the newspaper himself. Ten people dead in Wichita and Park City, Kansas. All within a few miles of each other, all approached the same way, all by the same hand. He went quiet for thirteen years. Then in 2004 he came back, sending nineteen communications in under twelve months, more than he had managed in the previous decade combined. He wanted to be known. He needed it. And in the end, a single floppy disk told police everything they needed. This is Case 001. (A Redux) DARK Cases is an investigative series reconstructing real criminal cases from around the world — one nation at a time. My Goal Is To Cover One True Crime Case In Every Nation [Enter: The D.A.R.K. Cases]

This is the preview of Detective Abroad Reconstructing Known Cases (D.A.R.K. Cases for short). A series where fictional investigator William Invisoler walks through real, documented criminal cases so we can understand how investigators actually think, follow evidence, hit dead ends, and find their way back. Every case is real. Every lead is documented. Every conclusion was reached by a real investigator. William is just the lens. This series exists because I'm writing a mystery novel and I refuse to write paper-thin detectives. I want the cases in my book to feel like they were built by someone who actually studied how investigations unfold. That's what this is. A research project, a storytelling experiment, and a training ground, all at once. Chapter Zero of my novel goes up Sunday. The first full DARK Cases episode drops Wednesday. D.A.R.K. Cases Detective Abroad Reconstructing Known Cases New episodes every Wednesday.
