In Snapshots of WWII, sisters Amanda and Jenne retrace the footsteps of their grandfather, Malcolm Moersch, a medic in the 357th Infantry Regiment of the legendary 90th Infantry Division “Tough Ombres.” Using original Army minute reports, wartime documents, photographs, memoirs, and expert interviews, each episode follows the real movements, battles, and experiences of the medics who lived through the war — beginning with their grandfather’s departure from Camp Kilmer in March 1944 and continuing through England, Normandy, and beyond. Using military records, personal photographs, memoirs, and historical research, Amanda and Jenne trace the journey of the 357th Infantry Regiment Medical Detachment of the 90th Infantry Division as they arrive at Camp Kilmer, New Jersey on March 22, 1944 before departing for England aboard the HMT Dominion Monarch.
