    S1E3: Bio-Inspiration and Nature as an (Aerospace) Engineer with Kunal Masanai and Baris Caglar

Today, I’m joined by Kunal Masania, full professor at the Department of Aerospace Structures and Materials, with afocus on bio-inspired materials, and Baris Caglar, assistant professor in the same department. Where Kunal focuses on learning from nature, Baris brings those principles into practical, manufacturable structures. Together, we explore what it means to learn from nature and what it takes to bring those lessons into the air. Let’s get into the conversation.

I’m joined for this episode by Dimitrios Zarouchas he is an Associate Professor and the Director of Center of Excellence in AI for structures, Prognostics & Health Management accompanied by Roger Groves also associate professor and lead a research group in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) &Structural Health Monitoring (SHM). Together, we talk about sensors, data, and predictive maintenance and how aircraft are evolving from static machines into systems that can monitor, undersand the data and anticipate on it. Because the real question isn’t just how we build aircraft but how they start to understand themselves. Let’s get into the conversation.
