EPISODE 14 - AI: Point of No Return!? | Cancer Bats, Rum Bothy & Langs Banana Rum

Have we already passed the point of no return with AI? Episode 14 gets into AI-generated music, disappearing jobs, sentient machines and whether human creativity can survive the automation rush - alongside Rum Bothy, Langs Banana Rum, Cancer Bats' new album Give Me Dirt and one perfectly timed live chicken.Rum Bothy kicks things off with orange, bitter marmalade and one of the strongest scores of the series. Cancer Bats then become "an angry Green Day" as the hosts dig into Give Me Dirt, its raw hardcore energy, Bat Sabbath and handmade artwork. Langs Banana Rum brings banana bread, caramel and childhood-antibiotic memories before the conversation turns fully towards artificial intelligence. Are we using AI as a tool - or quietly building our own replacement?https://www.ginbothy.co.uk/https://www.langsrum.com/banana-rumhttps://www.cancerbats.com/Show & Brand#BYOBPodcast #BYOB #BringYourOwnBottle #PodcastEpisode14 #PodcastShow #NewEpisode #PodcastLife #ScottishPodcastArtificial Intelligence & Tech#ArtificialIntelligence #AIGeneratedMusic #AIMusic #FutureOfAI #SentientAI #JobAutomation #CreativityVsAI #HumanCreativity #TechDebate #AIPhilosophy #FutureOfWorkDrinks & Tastings#RumBothy #LangsRum #LangsBananaRum #SpicedRum #BananaRum #CraftSpirits #RumTasting #SpiritsReview #RumReview #DundeeMarmalade #ScottishSpiritsMusic & Hardcore#CancerBats #GiveMeDirt #BatSabbath #HardcorePunk #CanadianHardcore #PunkRock #HeavyMusic #AlbumReview #NewMusic #KurtBallouEpisode Themes & Moments#LiveChicken #ChaosAndSpirits #NoFilterPodcast #PodcastMoments #MoshPits #MusicIndustry #HumanVsMachine

    Episode 11 – Where's Craig!? | Zombie Bite, Machine Head & Area 51

Episode 11 begins with twelve bottles from Sin City Spirits, two Zombie Bites on the bar and one missing fact checker. Craig has failed to return from the wormhole, leaving behind his BYOB T-shirt and some deeply suspicious CCTV footage involving a naked alien. The first pour is Zombie Bite spiced rum. Its artwork and bottle shape look the part, even if the screw top denies Lee and Neill their usual cork pop. Caramel leads the tasting, followed by star anise, banana, burnt toffee and crème brûlée. Smooth, thick and sweet without going too far, it earns a new category of its own: this is not a dental rum, it is a puddin’ rum. Neill scores it 9.5 and Lee gives it nine. Machine Head are the featured band. The conversation returns to a Glasgow Barrowland show from the 1990s, *Burn My Eyes*, *The More Things Change*, *The Burning Red* and the band’s place beside Pantera and Metallica. Korn, Sepultura, Biohazard and Fear Factory join a wider look back at the era, while the guitar tone on *Burn My Eyes* gets the attention it deserves. Conspiracy Corner heads underground at Area 51. Are the strange things seen over Nevada simply classified aircraft, or has alien technology been reverse-engineered there? The U-2, SR-71 Blackbird and F-117 Nighthawk lead into Bob Lazar, S-4, Element 115, gravity propulsion, the Nazi Bell and Operation Paperclip. Craig is not around to settle any of it. The route back to the bar includes childhood games, nettle stings, dock leaves and the fear of school punishment. Then Zombie Bite blueberry vodka arrives, looking like Ribena and tasting of blueberries, ice cream and frosted Pop-Tarts. Lee gives it 8.5; Neill gives it nine. Pull up a chair for two honest pours, classic metal memories, alien technology and the kind of tangents only BYOB can produce. ## Spotify Episode Notes - Featured drinks: Sin City Spirits Zombie Bite spiced rum and Zombie Bite blueberry vodka - Spiced rum scores: Neill 9.5; Lee 9 - Blueberry vodka scores: Neill 9; Lee 8.5 - Featured band: Machine Head - Albums discussed: *Burn My Eyes*, *The More Things Change* and *The Burning Red* - Also discussed: Korn, Pantera, Metallica, Sepultura and the 1990s metal scene - Conspiracy Corner: Area 51, Bob Lazar, S-4, Element 115, experimental aircraft, the Nazi Bell and Operation Paperclip - Craig is absent after the wormhole incident - Please enjoy your own bottle responsibly

Episode 10 – Up to the Hilt | Black Tears, Malevolence & Moon Landing

Episode 10 starts with technical gremlins, free-bottle news and Craig still away from the studio. Then the first pour arrives: Black Tears, a dry spiced Cuban rum with no cork pop but plenty to talk about. Coffee, vanilla, dark chocolate and sweet pepper all make their way into the tasting notes. Lee compares the drink to an espresso martini and an alcoholic iced coffee, while the table agrees that it is drier and more rum-forward than several sweeter bottles from earlier episodes. Lee gives it a nine. Neill gives it an eight. Band of the Week is Malevolence. The boys get into the Sheffield band’s heavy, hardcore sound, the bluesy ends of the riffs, the chaos of the live crowd and tracks including “Higher Place,” “Broken Glass,” “Trenches” and “Silhouette.” Hatebreed, Crowbar and Down enter the influence conversation, while Bleed From Within, Architects and Sylosis help make the case for the current British metal scene. That leads naturally into guitars: Malevolence’s playing, a room full of Ibanez instruments, the guitars the hosts would choose for free and a rapid favourite-player round featuring Dimebag Darrell, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and Andy James. Conspiracy Corner starts with the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Lee Harvey Oswald, Jack Ruby, the mafia, the CIA, Vietnam and alleged UFO files all become part of the discussion, with Craig checking details as the theories pile up. Then it is off to the moon. Did Apollo happen exactly as shown, or did the astronauts travel while the footage was recreated for television? The cameras, computing power, NASA, Stanley Kubrick and the space race all get examined before Craig appears on the lunar surface and disappears into a wormhole. The final featured pour is Sly Dog spiced rum, with ginger, clove, gingerbread and liquorice in the glass. Lee gives it six; Neill eventually lands on 7.5. Episode 10 finishes with a T-shirt competition for the best comment—provided the episode reaches at least 20 comments—and the familiar reminder that BYOB never has a last drink. ## Spotify Episode Notes - Featured drinks: Black Tears dry spiced Cuban rum; Sly Dog spiced rum; Budweiser - Drinks news: Reaper’s Rum and Arbikie - Featured band: Malevolence - Also discussed: Bleed From Within, Hatebreed, Crowbar, Down, Architects, Sylosis and favourite guitar players - Main topics: the JFK assassination, Lee Harvey Oswald, the mafia, the CIA, Apollo footage, NASA, Stanley Kubrick and the space race - Craig fact-checks the JFK discussion, Malevolence tour dates and Apollo tracking and cameras - Episode 10 competition: the best comment can win a T-shirt if the episode reaches at least 20 comments - Please enjoy your own bottle responsibly

Episode 9 – Portal in the MESA!? | Rumka, Vapoura, Faith No More & Skinwalker Ranch

Episode 9 is recorded on location in weather hot enough to pass for the Riviera, with Craig on sabbatical in the bunker and two orange bottles waiting at the bar. First up is Sin City Blood Orange Rumka, described as a 50/50 mix of rum and vodka with added flavour. Sin City sent the bottle and asked for an honest review, so Lee and Neill serve it over ice and let it take its chances. It briefly enters hand-gel territory, then grows on both of them enough to earn matching scores of eight out of ten and inspire some highly scientific mixer ideas. The music conversation belongs to Faith No More. The boys get into Chuck Mosley, Mike Patton, Mr. Bungle, *The Real Thing*, *Angel Dust*, *King for a Day… Fool for a Lifetime*, the Brixton live album and the band’s influence on Incubus, Korn, Taproot and the nu-metal generation. The classic records get plenty of love; the newer material gets a rather more honest response. Then comes a question for anyone who grew up with Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon or Disney: how much of that stuff was actually written for the adults? SpongeBob, *Animaniacs*, *Ren & Stimpy*, *Rugrats*, *The Simpsons*, *Popeye*, *Captain Pugwash* and several jokes that flew straight over children’s heads all enter the discussion. The second pour is Vapura Blood Orange Spiced Rum, sent by Rardo. Orange, vanilla, cardamom, nutmeg, pink peppercorn and ginger create something the boys compare more to gin than rum, but they both like it enough for 8.5. The bottle’s moth then pulls the episode through *The Silence of the Lambs*, *Hannibal*, *Dexter*, *Poltergeist* and the horror films everyone saw far too young. Finally, the bunker turns up inside Skinwalker Ranch. UFOs, Navajo legend, paranormal activity, government research, portals, parallel dimensions and a supposedly bulletproof wolf all get a seat at the table. Craig brings the scepticism. Lee and Neill bring the questions. The ranch keeps its answers.

Episode 8 – Clack and Dicter | Buckfast, Alice in Chains & CERN

Episode 8 is the second BYOB recorded in one night, so Lee, Neill and Craig are already a few drinks in before the proper episode even starts. Same clothes, backwards hat, questionable continuity and two months of weekly Thursday episodes. Not bad going. The first part of the night brings Asahi, Pirate's Grog mild cherry spiced rum with Pepsi Max, "nine point fump" and the discovery of Clack and Dicter, a Scottish term for the last quick drink before leaving the pub. Naturally, the boys decide it should become part of BYOB from now on. The first main pour is Reaper's Rum The Fool, a local St Andrews rum infused with toffee and banana. It smells like banana sweets, tastes like banana bread, toffee, coffee, vanilla and a bit of spice, and ends up scoring very well across the table. Music this week is Alice in Chains. Lee and Neill get into Layne Staley, Jerry Cantrell, MTV Unplugged, favourite songs, the harmonies, the heaviness and why the band still hits so hard. Then Conspiracy Corner opens with Missing 411, David Paulides, strange national park disappearances, tracking dogs losing scent, shoes, possible portals, UFOs, cryptids and government cover-up theories. After that, Buckfast finally arrives. The boys talk Benedictine monks, Buckfast Abbey, west coast Scottish reputation, caffeine, "wreck the hoose juice", "commotion lotion", Ribena, port and whether any of them would actually buy it again. The final stretch goes to CERN, the Large Hadron Collider, mini black holes, portals, the Mandela effect, Shazam, the Monopoly Man, Star Wars, Britney Spears and the possibility that every weird conversation somehow ends up back at CERN. One local rum. One bottle of Buckfast. One new BYOB goodbye. ## Spotify Episode Notes - Featured drinks: Buckfast; Reaper's Rum The Fool; Pirate's Grog mild cherry spiced rum with Pepsi Max; Asahi - Featured band: Alice in Chains - Main topics: Clack and Dicter, Missing 411, Buckfast, CERN, the Mandela effect and Episode 10 giveaway plans - Mental health/substance abuse: the Alice in Chains discussion references Layne Staley and substance abuse - Responsible drinking: the episode opens with the usual comedy and entertainment disclaimer #BYOBPodcast #BringYourOwnBottle #ScottishPodcast #UKPodcast #PodcastLife #ComedyPodcast #Buckfast #ReapersRum #StAndrewsRum #AliceInChains #LayneStaley #JerryCantrell #MTVUnplugged #Missing411 #DavidPaulides #Yosemite #CERN #LargeHadronCollider #MandelaEffect #ConspiracyPodcast #MetalPodcast #RumPodcast
