The Power of the Pause: Where Healing Catches Up to Awareness

Episode 11: The Power of the Pause: Where Healing Catches Up to Awareness In this episode of Healing Out Loud, I’m continuing The Pattern Series with a conversation about the pause — that quiet, uncomfortable, powerful space between the trigger and the response, the old pattern and the new choice. After a rough and overwhelming week, I found myself living the very lesson this episode is about. I had to slow down. I had to listen to my body. I had to stop pushing myself just because I felt behind. This episode is a reminder that pausing is not quitting. It is not weakness. It is not avoidance. Sometimes the pause is the place where we finally get enough space to hear ourselves clearly. I’m sharing how the pause can help us move from reacting out of fear to choosing from a place of peace, awareness, and self-trust. Healing does not always happen in the big breakthrough. Sometimes it happens in the breath before the next choice. In this episode, I reflect on: * Why old patterns often rush us into reacting * How awareness needs space before it can become change * Why the pause can feel uncomfortable but still be sacred * The difference between reacting from fear and choosing from peace * How healing can begin with one small intentional pause Signature Reflection: The pause is where healing catches up to awareness. Journal Prompt: Where in my life could one intentional pause create room for a different choice? Gentle Practice for the Week: This week, don’t try to fix everything. Just notice one pause. One deep breath before you answer. One quiet moment before you react. One chance to ask yourself: What would love choose here instead of fear? Because we are not healing alone. We are not healing silently. And we are certainly not healing perfectly. We’re simply Healing Out Loud.

    When Survival Becomes Identity

Episode 10: When Survival Becomes Identity   This episode introduces a new Healing Out Loud philosophy: Survival Whispers—the quiet messages we've carried for years without realizing they were once trying to protect us. There are moments in life when we look at ourselves and think, "That's just who I am." But what if some of the traits we've accepted as our personality are actually survival strategies we learned along the way? In this episode of Healing Out Loud, I explore how childhoodexperiences, painful relationships, and life's challenges can quietly shape the way we see ourselves, the way we love, and the way we move through the world. Together, we'll unpack the difference between who we truly are and who we became in order to survive. We'll explore the idea of Survival Whispers—the quiet messages that once protected us—and how healing gently invites us to listen for a new voice. This isn't about blaming our past or judging ourselves for the ways we've coped. It's about meeting ourselves with compassion, understanding our patterns, and realizingthat awareness gives us the opportunity to choose differently.   In this episode, we'll explore: • How survival strategies can become part of our identity • The difference between survival and healing • Why curiosity is more powerful than self-judgment • What it means to honor your survival without remaining in survival mode • How healing begins when awareness creates space for new choices   Reflection As you move through this week, ask yourself: What part of myself have I spent years trying to fix... that may have simply been trying to protect me? Notice what comes up with curiosity instead of judgment. Remember... "Healing begins the moment curiosity becomes louderthan judgment."   Thank you for being part of the Healing Out Loud journey. Recognizing the Pattern

In this episode of Healing Out Loud, we begin a brand-new collection exploring the patterns that quietly shape our lives.   Have you ever looked back and wondered:   Why does this keep happening?   Different people. Different jobs. Different relationships. Different seasons of life.   Yet somehow the feeling stays the same.   Together, we'll explore what patterns really are, how they develop, and why they often go unnoticed for years. We'll look at recurring responses, limiting beliefs, and emotional habits that can influence our choices without us even realizing it.   This episode isn't about blame or judgment.   It's about awareness.   Because patterns aren't evidence that you've failed.   They're information. They're clues. They're invitations to deeper understanding.   You'll discover: ✨ What patterns actually are ✨ How patterns can be learned through experience andobservation ✨ Why patterns often feel like personality ✨ The difference between self-judgment and self-awareness ✨ How awareness creates the opportunity for change   If you've ever felt like different situations somehow lead to the same emotional outcome, this episode may help you see things from a new perspective.   Healing Out Loud Reflection:   Is there an area of your life where the circumstances keep changing, but the feeling stays the same?   If so, what pattern might be asking for your attention?   Join the conversation inside the Healing in Motion community on Facebook.   Because we are not healing alone. The Becoming

EPISODE 8 The Becoming In this episode of Healing Out Loud, Dawn reflects on the journey so far and the ongoing process of becoming who we are meant to be. After exploring fear, self-doubt, protecting our pain, making ourselves small, letting go, starting over, finding our voice, and trusting ourselves again, this conversation brings those lessons together in a powerful reflection on growth, healing, and self-discovery. Because becoming isn't a destination. It's a process. It's choosing yourself again and again. It's learning from the setbacks, celebrating the breakthroughs, and continuing forward even when the path feels uncertain. Through personal reflection and encouragement, Dawn invites listeners to embrace where they are, honor how far they've come, and trust who they are becoming. If there's one message to take from this episode, it's this: You don't have to have everything figured out to keep moving forward. The journey continues one lesson, one breakthrough, one setback, and one honest conversation at a time. Join the Healing in Motion community on Facebook for continued reflection, support, and connection as we heal, grow, and learn together. And stay tuned as Healing Out Loud begins a new collection exploring the patterns that shape our lives, our relationships, and the way we see ourselves. Speak it. Heal it. Live it out loud.
