She Never Meant To Marry Him? - The Siya Goyal Case

Three months before his wedding, 26-year-old Ketan Aggarwal stood smiling beside his fiancée during a lavish engagement photoshoot. They toured luxury wedding venues in Udaipur, celebrated birthdays together, and appeared to be building the kind of future many families dream of. Then Ketan fell nearly 400 feet from Lohagad Fort. At first, it looked like a tragic hiking accident. Days later, police began investigating it as murder. Prosecutors now allege that Ketan's fiancée, Siya Goel, conspired with another man to kill him just weeks before their wedding. Investigators claim the relationship had been hidden behind months of engagement celebrations, family gatherings, and wedding planning. But this case raises questions that reach far beyond one investigation. How does someone continue planning a marriage they allegedly never intended to go through with? What happens when personal choice collides with family expectations? And why has India now seen multiple high-profile cases in which marriage itself appears to become the setting for murder? In this episode of Missing Context, we examine the allegations, the digital evidence, the cultural context surrounding Marwari business families, and the disturbing questions this case has forced many people to confront. At the time of publication, Siya Goel and Chetan Choudhary have been charged, but the allegations discussed in this episode have not yet been tested in court. Both remain presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
