#18: Apostles' Creed - on the third day He rose from the dead

#18: on the third day He rose again from the dead Intro: Some who know me well, know that when I get a little time in my reading schedule - or if I’m just looking to relax with a book - among other topics -  I like to read accounts and biographies of pirates.   Maybe you’ve heard the old pirate saying “dead men tell no tales” - but a resurrected man, one who claims to be the Messiah - the Savior of the world, who comes with signs and miracles - if these are no mere tales - this is someone who has to be taken seriously. And that’s precisely why the resurrection of Jesus is attacked so much by non-believers.  If the resurrection of Jesus can be discredited - then Christianity is a mere tale. Key points: On the third day he rose againReally?  Is this true?So what?Scripture quoted: 1 Corinthians 15:17-20Matthew 17:22-23Matthew 27.62-66Luke 24:25-27Hosea 6:1-21 Corinthians 15:3-4Acts 2.241Cor 15.54-57More sources / notes: Lots of books - here are a few:The Resurrection of Jesus by Michael LiconaThe Case for the Resurrection of Jesus by Habermas and LiconaThe Son Rises by William Lane CraigRaised on the Third Day - editors Beck and LiconaAnd of course, Gary Habermas’ 4 volume series:On the Resurrection: EvidencesOn the Resurrection: RefutationsOn the Resurrection: Scholarly PerspectivesOn the Resurrection: Theology and PracticeScripture quotations are from the ESV® Bible (The Holy Bible, English Standard Version®), © 2001 by Crossway, a publishing ministry of Good News Publishers.
