Episode 12: The Yuba County 5~America’s Most MACABRIOUS Mystery

🎙️ Episode 12: The Yuba County 5 ~ America’s Most MACABRIOUS Mystery Five men. One abandoned car. And questions that still don’t make sense. It’s the Season One Finale, Trash Pandas—and apparently we decided the appropriate way to celebrate was to choose a case that leaves us with approximately four answers and 7,492 questions. In February 1978, five friends set out for a basketball game in California. They never made it home. Days later, their car was discovered abandoned high in the mountains—miles from where anyone expected them to be and under circumstances that immediately raised questions. Why were they there? Why did they leave a working vehicle? What happened after they walked into the freezing wilderness? Months later, searchers would finally uncover pieces of the story… but what they found only created more questions. Four of the men were eventually found. One never was. This week, Kissy takes us deep into the baffling mystery of the Yuba County Five—the evidence, the theories, the unanswered questions, and the tiny details that have kept people arguing about this case for nearly five decades. But first, Talitha’s Mini Creeper takes us to Bulgaria for another disappearance caught partially on camera. In 2014, Lars Mittank was vacationing with friends when his behavior suddenly became increasingly concerning. After arriving alone at Varna Airport, Lars abruptly fled the terminal, ran beyond the airport grounds… …and vanished. He has never been conclusively found. Two disappearances. Two baffling sequences of events. And an alarming number of moments that make you ask: WHAT THE ACTUAL F**K HAPPENED HERE?! By the end, we were completely… ✨ DISCOMBEWILDERED ✨ (Yes. It’s a word now. Don’t ask Merriam-Webster. Ask Kissy.) Grab your snacks and your alibi, Trash Pandas. We’re digging into one final dumpster before closing the lid on Season One of Two Unhinged Trash Pandas. Thank you for listening, laughing, questioning everything, and getting unhinged with us through our very first season. We seriously cannot wait to show you what we’re digging into next. 🎧 Mini Creeper: The Disappearance of Lars Mittank🗑️ Main Case: The Yuba County Five📖 Trash Panda Dictionary: Discombewildered — when regular bewilderment simply isn’t enough.🦝 Also Trash Panda Dictionary: Macabrious — because apparently macabre wasn’t dramatic enough for Kissy. 😂 Question everything. Keep learning. Keep being kind. And as always… See you next season, Trash Pandas. 🦝💜🎙️ Two Unhinged Trash Pandas discusses real cases involving death, disappearance, violence, and other potentially distressing subjects. Listener discretion is advised.

Episode 11: The Servant Girl Annihilator ~ Austin’s “Macabrious” Midnight Nightmare

🎙️ Episode 11: The Servant Girl Annihilator ~ Austin’s “Macabrious” Midnight Nightmare What happens when one of America’s earliest unsolved serial killers stalks the streets of 1880s Austin… and your co-host accidentally invents a brand-new vocabulary word? This week, Lit takes the lead with the chilling story of The Servant Girl Annihilator, the mysterious killer who terrorized Austin, Texas years before Jack the Ripper appeared in London. Was this America’s first serial killer? Could there be a connection? Or has history simply left us with one of its most macabrious mysteries? Before that, Lit shares the bizarre tale of the New Orleans Axeman, the killer who allegedly told an entire city to play jazz if they wanted to survive the night. Also this week: 🪓 Mini Creeper: The New Orleans Axeman 📖 Kissy’s Dictionary: Macabrious (yes… we know it’s not a real word… it is now.) 🚨 Dishonorable Mention: A wife who allegedly responded to her husband’s affair with Gorilla Glue and laxatives… because apparently healthy communication wasn’t an option. 🔎 Kissy’s Missing Person 🦝 And, of course, the usual Trash Panda chaos, rabbit trails, random conversations, and questionable life choices. ⚠️ Content Warning: This episode discusses murder, violent crime, and includes brief mentions of sexual assault involving two historical victims (ages 11 and 17). While we do not discuss these details graphically, listener discretion is advised. 🎧 Stay until the very end for another one of our historical “audio postcards”—a short immersive soundscape inspired by this week’s story.

Episode 9: Israel Keyes ~ Murder Kits Across America

Episode 9: Israel Keyes — Murder Kits Across America Get your snacks, your alibi… and maybe a f*****g map for this one. 🗺️🦝 This week, Lit & Kissy dive into the disturbing case of Israel Keyes, a serial killer who traveled thousands of miles across the United States, buried “murder kits” years in advance, and deliberately tried to make his crimes nearly impossible to connect. From unexplained trips and rental cars to buried caches, known victims, suspected victims, and enormous gaps that investigators are still trying to piece together—we’re following Keyes across the map and asking one of the most unsettling questions surrounding his case: How much do we still not know? But before we get there, Lit brings a Mini Creeper involving one of history’s strangest outbreaks—the Dancing Plague of 1518—and this week’s Dishonorable Mention proves that sometimes you don’t have to be a criminal mastermind to make headlines. 😂 And, as always, there’s plenty of unhinged commentary, questionable vocabulary, unexpected rabbit holes, and at least one moment that will probably require Kissy’s Dictionary. 🎧 STAY TUNED AFTER THE EPISODE:Don’t hit stop when you think we’re done. At the very end, you’ll hear a brief piece of real interview audio featuring Israel Keyes speaking casually with investigators—and his unmistakably creepy laugh. There’s something particularly unsettling about hearing someone responsible for horrific crimes sounding so completely… normal. Audio Source Note: The Israel Keyes interview excerpt featured at the end of this episode comes from publicly released FBI interview material. ⚠️ CONTENT WARNING: This episode discusses murder, abduction, sexual violence, and other disturbing subject matter. Listener discretion is advised. 🦝 How many Trash Pandas does Israel Keyes get? Listen wherever you get your podcasts—and remember: It’s all connected.

Episode 8: What Happened to Maura Murray

🎙️ Episode 8: What Happened to Maura Murray A young woman crashes her car on a snowy New Hampshire road… and less than twenty minutes later, she’s gone. This week, the Trash Panda Research Department opens MAIN INVESTIGATION FILE #008 as we dive into one of the most debated missing person cases in modern history: Maura Murray. Together, we separate confirmed facts from internet folklore, walk through the strange events leading up to Maura’s disappearance, examine the infamous crash on Route 112, and break down the theories that have fueled over twenty years of speculation. Did she disappear voluntarily? Wander into the woods? Accept a ride from the wrong person? Or is the answer still hiding somewhere in the White Mountains? Along the way, Talitha accidentally invents another level of police dipshittery, Kissy introduces the newest addition to the Trash Panda Dictionary: “Vompit,” and the Research Department does what it does best… question absolutely everything. Also this week: 💾 Mini Creeper #008: The unbelievable story of how BTK evaded capture for over 30 years… only to destroy his own freedom with a single floppy disk. Because apparently asking the police if they can trace your evidence is a perfectly reasonable life choice. 🌳 Dishonorable Mention: Someone actually stole one of the famous Sycamore Gap “Trees of Hope” saplings. Because stealing a memorial tree somehow became a thing we all had to read about in 2026. As always, expect rabbit holes, laughs in all the wrong places, thoughtful discussion, and a healthy dose of Trash Panda chaos. 🦝 Question Everything.🍗 Follow the Nugget.🎙️ See You Next Tuesday.
