6'9 and Gone Without a Trace - What Happened to Rico Harris?

6'9 ex-basketball star Rico Harris vanished on a road trip to Seattle — this missing persons breakdown covers the full timeline of an unsolved California disappearance. On October 10, 2014, 37-year-old Rico Omar Harris left his mother's home in Alhambra, California in his black Nissan Maxima, driving north to Seattle to move in with his girlfriend Jennifer Song. Having been awake for nearly 30-40 hours, his family urged him to rest. At 10:45 a.m. he left a voicemail saying he was near Sacramento and was going "up into the mountains to rest" — then his phone went silent.Three days later on October 13, a Yolo County sheriff's deputy found his Nissan abandoned at Cache Creek Regional Park off State Route 16. Inside: wallet, credit cards, papers and CDs scattered, out of gas with a dead battery. About a mile away along Highway 16, his backpack and cell phone were found with photos and video of Rico by the creek. Large footprints consistent with his size 18 shoes led toward the creek, and two witnesses reported a very large man walking and sitting on a guardrail in the early morning hours of October 11.Despite massive searches with dogs, helicopters, ATVs and thermal imaging, no trace of the 6'9, 280 lb former Los Angeles City College champion and Harlem Globetrotter has ever been found.Rico Harris would be 49 today. If you traveled State Route 16 through Yolo County around October 10-11, 2014, contact Yolo County Sheriff's Department at 530-666-8282, case number 142964. 20 and Missing Without His Insulin - What Happened to Elijah Diaz?

20-year-old Elijah Diaz vanished overnight in California without the insulin he needed to survive — this missing persons breakdown covers the full timeline of an unsolved disappearance. On August 29, 2015, Elijah "Bear" Diaz, a 20-year-old member of the Barona Band of Mission Indians, was dropped off by his mother Leilani Thompson at his home in the 700 block of Joey Avenue in El Cajon, California around 10 p.m. He had Type 1 diabetes with neuropathy and severe foot wounds, used crutches to walk, and required daily insulin and care. They exchanged a goodnight text at 11:19 p.m. — the last time anyone heard from him. When his mother returned the next afternoon with dinner, Bear was gone. Missing from the apartment were his TV, bedding and comforter, contents of a safe, his crutches, and a red and black backpack with about 10 days of diabetes medication. Left behind were his glasses, toothbrush, and phone charger. His phone was turned off on August 30 and never reactivated. There has been no bank activity, no social media activity, and he missed a scheduled doctor's appointment. In this unsolved cases episode, we walk through what investigators know: El Cajon police investigated while family and friends searched the neighborhood. Early on, police said it was not yet certain the circumstances were suspicious. His family strongly disagrees — his limited mobility, need for insulin, and complete silence make a voluntary walk-away extremely unlikely, and they fear foul play involving someone who transported him.More than 10 years later, Elijah Diaz remains missing. If you lived in El Cajon or San Diego County in August 2015, or have credible information, contact El Cajon Police Department at 619-579-3311.Subscribe to Crime Solvers Central for weekly missing persons and unsolved cases coverage.Script by Ben Jenum#missingpersons #unsolvedcases #truecrime

She Texted She Was at Airport But Never Was - What Happened to Katelin Akens?

19-year-old Katelin Akens vanished on the drive to the airport in Virginia after texts claimed she was already there — this missing persons breakdown covers the full timeline of an unsolved disappearance. On December 5, 2015, Katelin Michelle Akens was supposed to fly home to Arizona from Virginia after visiting family and meeting her newborn nephew. She lived in Lake Havasu City, Arizona with her fiancee and was preparing for cosmetology school. Her former stepfather James Branton agreed to drive her to Reagan National Airport for her 5:00 p.m. flight. He claimed he dropped her at Springfield Town Center to take the metro — but there is no evidence she ever made it to the mall or the airport. She never boarded her flight and has not been seen since. In this unsolved cases episode, we walk through what investigators know: texts from Katelin's phone said she was at the airport with a dying battery, then later claimed she was staying with a friend and needed time alone — messages her family says did not sound like her. Cell data placed those later messages near Interstate 95 in Stafford County, not the airport. Two days later her suitcase was found in a ditch along River Road in Spotsylvania County nearly 50 miles from the airport, with wallet, ID and plane ticket inside but some clothing missing. Investigators said Branton's timeline did not align with tower data, and he refused a phone search and polygraph.More than 10 years later, Katelin Akens remains missing. In April 2026 Branton was arrested on multiple sex offense charges, with investigators believing Katelin may have been one of his victims. The disappearance investigation is ongoing. If you were in Spotsylvania County, Stafford County, Fredericksburg, Springfield or Northern Virginia on December 5, 2015, or have credible information, contact Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office.Subscribe to Crime Solvers Central for weekly missing persons and unsolved cases coverage.Script by Ben Jenum#missingpersons #unsolvedcases #truecrime
