Two Kings, One Throne | Who Is Really in Control? (Ep. 11)

Two Kings, One Throne | Who Is Really in Control? (Ep. 11)The wise men. The star. Gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Matthew 2 contains some of the most familiar pieces of the Christmas story—but when you slow down and really read what happened, this chapter is about much more than wise men bringing gifts to Jesus. It’s a story about two kings—and only one of them is truly in control. In Episode 11 of Remember Who The King Is, Chad Muncy, Donnie Prince, and Mark Berry dive into Matthew 2:1–18 and the dramatic events following the birth of Jesus. When the wise men arrive asking, “Where is the newborn king of the Jews?”, King Herod is deeply disturbed. Why? Because Jesus represented something Herod couldn't tolerate: a threat to his throne. Herod had power, influence, authority, and control—and he was willing to do horrific things to keep them. Meanwhile, the wise men traveled an incredible distance to find Jesus, bow before Him, worship Him, and offer Him their treasures. One king desperately held onto his throne. The other was worthy of worship. And that raises a question that reaches far beyond Matthew 2: Who is sitting on the throne of our lives? In this episode, we discuss: Who the wise men were and why they traveled to find JesusWhy Herod was so threatened by the birth of ChristThe difference between knowing about Jesus and actually knowing HimWhy even the religious leaders could know Scripture and still miss the SaviorHow pride, power, and the desire for control can become idolsWhy following Jesus will disrupt our livesHow God warned the wise men and Joseph through dreamsJoseph's incredible example of obedience, courage, and godly masculinityTrusting God when obedience leads somewhere difficultWhy following Jesus does not guarantee an easy lifeThe danger of a Christianity built around comfort and prosperityHow Satan uses distraction, fear, and busyness to pull us away from GodWhat genuine salvation and life transformation actually look likeJoseph and Mary were following God—and yet suddenly they found themselves fleeing for their lives with an infant Jesus. They hadn't done anything wrong. They were obeying. And their obedience still led them through an incredibly difficult season. That's an important reminder for every Christian: difficulty does not mean God has abandoned you. Sometimes following God means trusting Him when you cannot see how everything is going to work out. Through every part of this story—from the star that led the wise men, to the warning that sent them home another way, to Joseph taking his family and fleeing to Egypt—we see one truth again and again: God's plan cannot be stopped. Herod had an army. Herod had political power. Herod sat on an earthly throne. But Herod was never really in control. And neither are we. The question is whether we will respond like Herod and fight to remain king of our own lives—or respond like the wise men and bow before the One who truly is King. We also close this episode with a clear presentation of the Gospel and an invitation for anyone who knows about Jesus but isn't sure they truly know Jesus. The Birth of Jesus | Faith, Fear & Saying Yes to God (Ep. 10)

The story of Jesus’ birth is one of the most familiar stories in the Bible—but familiarity can sometimes cause us to miss just how incredible it really is. In Episode 10 of Remember Who The King Is, Chad Muncy, Donnie Prince, and Mark Berry return to the Gospel of Matthew and walk through Matthew 1:18–25, looking beyond the traditional Christmas story to consider what Mary and Joseph were actually facing. Mary was pregnant before their marriage—and Joseph knew the child wasn’t his. Before Joseph understood what God was doing, he faced heartbreak, confusion, fear, and a decision that could change both of their lives. Yet even with incomplete information, Scripture describes Joseph as a righteous man who chose compassion rather than public humiliation. Then everything changed. An angel appeared to Joseph in a dream and told him: “Do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife…” The child Mary carried had been conceived by the Holy Spirit. His name would be Jesus, and He would save His people from their sins. Suddenly, Joseph wasn’t simply preparing to become a husband. He was being asked to help raise the Messiah. In this episode, we discuss: The incredible pressure Mary and Joseph must have facedWhy Joseph’s response reveals so much about his characterTrusting God when we don’t have the entire pictureObeying God even when others may not understandThe fear of stepping into something bigger than ourselvesHow the opinions of others can keep us from following GodThe danger of delayed obedienceWhether God still uses dreams, convictions, and unexpected circumstancesRecognizing when God may be calling us into something newWhy our individual obedience can become one piece of a much bigger planWe also share a powerful real-life example of how one prayer, one dream, and one act of obedience set off a chain of events that eventually helped bring the three hosts of this podcast together. That raises an important question: How much could God do through one act of obedience? Joseph didn’t have every answer. He couldn't see everything that was coming. He simply knew what God had told him—and he obeyed. The birth of Jesus reminds us that God’s plans often unfold in ways we never would have chosen or expected. Mary and Joseph were real people with real plans, real fears, and real questions. Yet when God called them into something far greater than themselves, they said yes. And God still calls ordinary people to trust Him today. Maybe God has placed an idea on your heart. Maybe there’s something you know you need to do. Maybe fear of failure, uncertainty, or what other people will think has kept you from taking the first step. You don’t have to understand the entire plan before you obey the next thing God has asked you to do. Are you obeying God—or delaying what God has called you to do? Open your Bible to Matthew 1:18–25 and join us as we look again at the beginning of the greatest story ever told. David & Bathsheba : Part 2 | The Cost of Sin & the Power of Repentance (Ep. 9)

We witnessed one of the darkest moments in King David's life. A man after God's own heart gave in to temptation, and what followed was deception, adultery, murder, and an attempt to hide his sin. But the story doesn't end there. In this episode of Remember Who The King Is, Chad Muncy, Donnie Prince, and Mark Berry continue through 2 Samuel Chapters 12 and 13, where David is confronted by the prophet Nathan, forced to face the reality of his actions, and reminded that while God's forgiveness is real, sin always carries consequences. Together, we discuss: Nathan's courageous confrontation with King DavidWhy it's easier to recognize sin in others than in ourselvesThe difference between guilt, conviction, and true repentanceWhy forgiveness doesn't always remove earthly consequencesThe importance of accountability and having people willing to tell us the truthHow hidden sin grows until it's brought into the lightWhy wise, godly counsel is more valuable than the voices of cultureHow mentors and accountability partners can change the direction of a lifeThe hope found in God's mercy—even after devastating failureThis episode isn't simply about David's punishment. It's about God's relentless pursuit of His children. Nathan didn't confront David to condemn him. He confronted him to restore him. One of the most powerful truths from this conversation is that God loves us too much to leave us comfortable in our sin. Sometimes He uses Scripture. Sometimes He uses conviction. Sometimes He uses a trusted friend who has the courage to tell us what we need to hear instead of what we want to hear. We also explore the importance of surrounding ourselves with wise, godly people who will lovingly hold us accountable in a culture filled with voices competing for our attention. David's life reminds us that every choice matters. Sin can be forgiven... But it should never be treated lightly. At the same time, this story is filled with hope. Even after David's greatest failure, God did not abandon him. God restored him. God continued His plan. And through David's family line would eventually come Jesus Christ, proving once again that God's grace is greater than our deepest failures. If you've ever struggled with regret... If you've ever wondered whether God could still use someone who's made serious mistakes... Or if you need the courage to confront sin in your own life with humility and repentance... This episode is a powerful reminder that God's mercy is available to those who genuinely turn back to Him. Because failure is never the end of the story when we bring it to the feet of Jesus. David & Goliath | Facing Giants with Faith (Ep. 8)

Some stories in the Bible are so well known that they've become part of everyday language. "David versus Goliath." It's the phrase we use whenever the odds seem impossible, the challenge feels overwhelming, or the underdog somehow finds a way to win. But is that really what this story is about? In this episode of Remember Who The King Is, Chad Muncy, Donnie Prince, and Mark Berry take a fresh look at one of Scripture's most famous accounts—David and Goliath in 1 Samuel 17. Rather than simply celebrating an underdog victory, they uncover the deeper message of faith, identity, preparation, and complete dependence on God.  Together, we discuss: The events leading up to David's battle with GoliathWhy David wasn't fearless—but trusted God more than his fearHow private faith prepares us for public battlesThe significance of David refusing Saul's armorWhy preparation, prayer, and God's Word matter long before the giant appearsHow criticism from others can distract us from God's callingWhat the five smooth stones teach us about wisdom and preparationWhy every believer will face giants—and how God equips us to overcome themThis conversation goes far beyond a giant, a sling, and a stone. We explore how the "giants" we face today often look different than Goliath. Fear. Anxiety. Financial struggles. Broken relationships. Health challenges. Addiction. Discouragement. The pressures of culture. The question isn't whether we'll face giants. The question is whether we'll face them in our own strength or in God's. One of the most powerful truths from this episode is simple: Faith doesn't mean you never experience fear—it means you trust God more than your fear. David had already learned to trust God while tending sheep in the quiet places. His victory over Goliath wasn't an accident. It was the result of years of faithful preparation, daily dependence on God, and confidence that the battle ultimately belonged to the Lord. If you're facing a giant that seems impossible today, this episode is a reminder that your greatest strength isn't found in your own ability. It's found in the God who has never lost a battle. Because the story of David and Goliath isn't ultimately about a brave shepherd defeating a giant... It's about a great God who is bigger than every giant we'll ever face. Ruth Continued : The Kinsman Redeemer | The Four: Part 5 (Ep. 7)

Welcome back to Part 2 of our study through the book of Ruth and the continuation of “The Four”—our special series exploring the four remarkable women included in the lineage of Jesus. In this episode, Chad Muncy, Donnie Prince, and Mark Berry continue Ruth's story by diving into Ruth Chapters 3 and 4, where every piece of God's plan begins to come together.  What began with loss, grief, and uncertainty now unfolds into one of the Bible's most beautiful pictures of redemption. Together, we explore: The true meaning behind the threshing floor and why this moment is often misunderstoodHow Ruth's request to Boaz was an appeal for redemption—not romanceBoaz's remarkable character, integrity, and honorThe biblical role of the kinsman redeemer and how Boaz points us to Jesus ChristWhy godly character matters more than shortcutsThe importance of seeking wise, godly counsel in every season of lifeHow God quietly weaves together every piece of His plan across generationsWhy Ruth's story ultimately leads us to King David—and eventually to JesusThis episode is about far more than a love story. It's about redemption. It's about integrity. It's about trusting God's timing even when we can't see the whole picture. As Boaz chooses honor over convenience and Ruth places herself in a position of complete trust, we see a beautiful picture of what godly relationships, sacrificial leadership, and biblical character truly look like. One of the most powerful themes in this discussion is that God is always putting together a puzzle we cannot yet see. Every decision... Every act of obedience... Every season of waiting... Every relationship... God is weaving them together into a story far greater than we could ever imagine. We also discuss the importance of surrounding ourselves with wise, godly mentors and how faithful people can shape the course of our lives for generations to come. And as Ruth's story comes to its incredible conclusion, we discover that this faithful Moabite widow becomes the great-grandmother of King David—placing her directly in the lineage of Jesus Christ. It's a breathtaking reminder that God doesn't simply redeem people... He uses redeemed people to accomplish His eternal purposes. If you've ever questioned God's timing, wondered if your ordinary life matters, or needed encouragement to remain faithful when the outcome isn't yet visible, this episode will remind you that the Master Puzzle Maker is still at work. David & Bathsheba : A Choice Changes Everything | The Four: Part 4 (Ep. 6)

Welcome to the fourth installment of our special series, “The Four”— a journey through the four women in the lineage of Jesus whose lives reveal God's grace, redemption, and His incredible ability to accomplish His purposes through imperfect people. In this episode, Chad Muncy, Donnie Prince, and Mark Berry examine one of the most sobering and well-known stories in all of Scripture: David and Bathsheba, found in 2 Samuel Chapter 11. David was a man after God's own heart. He had defeated giants, led Israel, and experienced God's favor in remarkable ways. Yet even a godly man wasn't immune to temptation. What began as a lingering glance quickly became lust. Lust became sin. Sin became deception. Deception led to betrayal. And betrayal ultimately led to death. Together, we discuss: How David's temptation began long before his sinThe dangerous progression from temptation to destructionWhy no one is above falling into sinThe devastating consequences David's choices had on innocent peopleBathsheba's often misunderstood role in the storyThe difference between hidden sin and genuine repentanceHow one decision can impact generationsThe incredible grace of God even in the aftermath of failureThis conversation isn't simply about adultery. It's about every temptation that whispers, "Just this once." It's about the compromises that seem small in the moment but grow into consequences far beyond what we ever imagined. Most importantly, it's about the hope that even our greatest failures are not beyond the reach of God's grace. One of the most powerful truths from this episode is this: Sin always promises more than it delivers, but God's grace is greater than our deepest failure. David's story reminds us that spiritual victories from yesterday don't guarantee faithfulness today. Every believer must remain humble, vigilant, and dependent upon God. If you've ever wrestled with temptation... If you've ever wondered whether one bad decision has permanently damaged your future... Or if you've experienced the weight of regret and long for restoration... This episode offers both a warning and a reminder that while sin carries real consequences, God's mercy is available to those who genuinely repent. Because even in one of the darkest chapters of David's life... God was still writing a story of redemption. Ruth : Faithfulness in the Fields | The Four: Part 3 (Ep. 5)

Welcome to Part 3 of our special series, “The Four”—a powerful journey through the four women in the lineage of Jesus whose lives demonstrate God's grace, redemption, and His ability to work through the most unlikely circumstances. In this episode, Chad Muncy, Donnie Prince, and Mark Berry begin exploring the beautiful story of Ruth, covering Ruth chapters 1 and 2. Unlike the dramatic stories of Tamar and Rahab, Ruth's story unfolds quietly through loss, faithfulness, loyalty, and God's unseen providence. Yet it becomes one of the greatest pictures of redemption in all of Scripture. When tragedy strikes and Naomi loses her husband and both of her sons, everything seems hopeless. But in the middle of grief, one young Moabite widow makes a life-changing declaration of faith that would alter history forever. Together, we discuss: Who Ruth was and why her story is so extraordinaryNaomi's heartbreak and the pain of unimaginable lossRuth's unwavering loyalty and her famous commitment to NaomiWhy Ruth leaving Moab was far more than changing locations—it was choosing GodHow Boaz models godly character, compassion, and integrityGod's providence in the "ordinary" moments of lifeWhy faithfulness in the small things often leads to God's greatest blessingsHow God is still working even when we can't see His planThis episode reminds us that not every miracle comes with collapsing walls or dramatic moments. Sometimes God is working quietly. Through ordinary conversations. Simple acts of obedience. Unexpected kindness. And faithful people who continue trusting Him one day at a time. Ruth's story teaches us that God often does His greatest work behind the scenes, weaving together circumstances we could never arrange ourselves. If you've ever wondered whether God is still working during seasons of grief, uncertainty, or waiting, this episode is a powerful reminder that His providence is never absent—even when it feels invisible. Because while Ruth thought she was simply gathering grain in a field... God was preparing the next chapter in His plan of redemption. Rahab : Faith Behind the Scarlet Cord | The Four: Part 2 (Ep. 4)

Welcome to Part 2 of our special series, “The Four”—a powerful look at the four women included in the lineage of Jesus whose stories reveal God's grace, redemption, and sovereign plan throughout history. In this episode, Chad Muncy, Donnie Prince, and Mark Berry dive into the remarkable story of Rahab, found in Joshua chapters 1, 2, and 6. At first glance, Rahab seems like one of the least likely people God would ever use. She wasn't an Israelite. She wasn't raised in the faith. She lived in a city destined for destruction. And Scripture identifies her as a prostitute. Yet God would use her faith to change not only her future, but the future of generations to come—including her place in the lineage of Jesus Christ Himself.  Together, we discuss: Who Rahab was and why her story is so significantHow faith can overcome fear and impossible circumstancesThe spies, the scarlet cord, and God's promise of salvationWhy God often chooses the most unlikely people for His greatest purposesThe powerful symbolism behind the scarlet cordHow the fall of Jericho points to God's power and faithfulnessWhat it means to trust God when you can't see the outcomeWhy no one is disqualified from being used by GodThis conversation goes far beyond an ancient battle and a collapsing wall. We explore how Rahab's story still speaks directly to our lives today. Whether you're facing fear, struggling with your past, carrying regret, battling feelings of inadequacy, or staring at walls that seem impossible to overcome, Rahab's story reminds us that faith is not the absence of fear, it's choosing to trust God anyway.  One of the most powerful truths from this episode is simple: God doesn't define people by their past. He sees what they can become through faith. Rahab had heard about God. She believed God. And when the moment came, she acted on that faith. The result? The walls fell. Her family was saved. And her story became part of God's redemptive plan for the world. If you've ever wondered whether God can still use you, whether your mistakes are too great, or whether the walls in your life can ever come down, this episode is for you. Because the same God who brought down the walls of Jericho is still at work today. Tamar: Grace in the Mess | The Four: Part 1 (Ep. 3)

Welcome to the first episode in our special series, “The Four”—a powerful look at the four women mentioned in the lineage of Jesus whose stories reveal the grace, redemption, and unexpected ways God works through broken circumstances. In this episode, Chad Muncy, Donnie Prince, and Mark Berry dive into one of the most shocking and misunderstood stories in all of Scripture: Judah and Tamar in Genesis Chapter 38. What at first glance feels uncomfortable, messy, and even scandalous quickly becomes one of the Bible’s most incredible stories of redemption, transformation, and God’s sovereignty.  Together, we unpack: Who Tamar was and why her story mattersThe cultural reality women faced in biblical timesWhy Judah’s failures don’t define his whole storyThe turning point that changed Judah’s life foreverThe difference between regret and true repentanceHow brokenness, desperation, and pain often lead people into difficult choicesWhat this story teaches us about grace, responsibility, redemption, and personal transformationThis conversation goes far beyond an Old Testament story. We discuss how Genesis 38 still applies today—from relationships and accountability to social media, shame, mistakes, and learning how to move forward when life gets messy. Because one of the most beautiful truths in Scripture is this: God doesn’t hide broken people. He redeems them. Judah’s story is one of failure. Tamar’s story is one of desperation. But together, their story becomes part of something far bigger: The lineage of Jesus Christ. If you’ve ever wondered whether your mistakes disqualify you… if you’ve ever felt stuck, ashamed, or too far gone… This episode is a reminder: God is never finished writing your story. The Family Tree of a King | Why Matthew 1 Changes Everything (Ep. 2)

Most people skip right past Matthew Chapter 1. A long list of names. A genealogy. A chapter that can feel confusing, repetitive, or honestly… easy to ignore. But what if that list of names is actually one of the most powerful openings in all of Scripture? In Episode 2 of Remember Who The King Is, Chad Muncy, Donnie Prince, and Mark Berry dive into Matthew Chapter 1 (verses 1–17) and uncover why the genealogy of Jesus matters far more than most people realize. This isn’t just family history. This is a declaration. Together, we discuss: Why genealogies mattered so much in biblical timesHow Matthew proves Jesus is the promised KingThe significance of the “14, 14, 14” generationsWhy God intentionally included broken, messy, and unlikely people in Jesus’ family lineHow stories of failure, redemption, outsiders, and grace point directly to JesusWhy this chapter is far more than a random list of namesFrom Abraham to David… from exile to redemption… Matthew is painting a powerful picture that reveals one central truth: God keeps His promises. And maybe even more encouraging… If God can work through the broken people in Jesus’ lineage, maybe your story isn’t too messy either. If you’ve ever skipped Matthew 1… this episode may change the way you read your Bible forever. Because behind every name… there’s a story. And behind every story… There is a King.
