Car Gonzalez: The Coin Card Disaster

First, it's 8/1/26 and what's happened with Coin Card in Bitcoin is terrible. My heart goes out to the victims of this disaster. It's been a dark few days in Bitcoin. This isn't a technical talk. What Car and I are getting into is a calm, level-headed chat about what's gone on, what's happening now, and what we, as Bitcoiners can do next. This is part of a longer conversation and I'll release the entire thing on Thursday, August 6, 2026. I felt the first part of our chat on the subject of Coin Card is too timely to wait 5 more days. This story is rapidly changing and I feel it will morph and evolve into something entirely new by Monday. This is an informal chat, not a news show. Information and facts are rapidly coming to light. Car and I originally intended to talk about the upcoming Hackalajara and Startup Day in Mexico. We do still talk about this, and all of that info will come out Thursday when I release the full conversation. We just happened to have this scheduled for today and felt like we should talk about Coin Card. It's devastating. It's on all of our minds. Hopefully, better things are ahead for those who used Cold Card and had to endure undue stress in this impossible situation.
