Series reflection: Common themes of community & solving humanity's problems

In this episode Mark and Jeff get together again behind the mic and reflect on the series. Mark reflects on how much harder it was than expected to find quality guests and convince them to come on. They unite behind the consistent theme of community and purpose driven people solving humanity’s problems, often for very little reward and how much cool stuff is going on in Oxfordshire. With a launch event in June, a great community has emerged amongst the guests who we plan to check-in with again to follow their progress if we do a second series. Finally, they explore intersections with their business, the Next Revolution which explores the future of work and purposeful leadership. Jeff also mentions his NEET research, with a paper expected in the New Year.

    10. The Jungle: A safe space where everyone belongs

In this episode we meet Phil Chapman and Micah Hayns from the Jungle, a non-profit and space dedicated to community, friendship and creativity.  Founded, initially as a space for Micah (an artist who strives to capture the beauty of life in a way that resonates meaningfully with others) to display his artwork (which he still does), the Jungle is a community hub run in partnership with a local charity, hosting a wide range of free workshops and creative events for the local area.  The Jungle has become a safe space where people from all walks of life (including abuse victims and recovering addicts) can go to belong, feel heard and not judged and build meaningful relationships. We also hear about an extraordinary meeting between hip-hop and orchestral music. To close the series, we’re sharing Changed Man by Banbury artist Benza, a deeply personal reflection on recovery, responsibility and the possibility of changing the direction of your life.
