The Digital Nomad Therapist Podcast

Dr. Annie

You became a therapist for the freedom and meaning — and somewhere along the way, it started to feel like a trap. The Digital Nomad Therapist podcast is for licensed therapists who want to build a private practice they can run from anywhere in the world. Hosted by Dr. Annie Krajewski, a licensed psychologist who's spent the last few years running her practice from Morocco, Thailand, and Bali while continuing to see her U.S. clients. Every week, Annie breaks down what it actually takes to go location-independent — the licensing, the legal and HIPAA stuff, the marketing, the tech, and the mindset work nobody talks about. You'll hear her story, real stories from therapists who've made this work, and honest, practical guidance from someone who's actually living it. If you've been researching this for months — or years — and still haven't made a move, this show is for you.

My journey to becoming a Digital Nomad Therapist

A question I get all the time, like ALL the time, is: how did you actually become a digital nomad therapist? So for this first episode I'm telling you my story. I'm taking you back to before any of this felt possible. To the version of me sitting in windowless offices in DC, dreaming about my next trip and fully believing that being a therapist meant I had to choose between the career I loved and the life I wanted abroad. I'll tell you about the YouTube video that first put the words "digital nomad" in my head (and how fast I talked myself out of it). The breakup at 29 that cracked my whole life open. The three times I tried to tell my clients I was leaving and chickened out. And the wildly impulsive decision to just… stay in Morocco — where I met my husband two days in, kept seeing my US clients from a little apartment with borrowed wifi, and never really left. This is the story of betting on yourself before you have any proof it's going to work. If you've got that aching feeling that the life you're living isn't it, this one's for you. What I get into: Why I was SO sure being a therapist and living abroad couldn't go togetherThe breakup that turned my life upside down (and weirdly set me free)The list my mom made me write that changed everythingChickening out three times in a row trying to tell my clientsWhy I signed a two-year lease instead of running — and why that was the right callTelling my clients I was leaving, breaking my lease early, and driving across the country with my mom and two catsThe surf-and-yoga retreat in Tagazout and the moment I thought "why don't I just stay?"Seeing US clients for the first time from Morocco (5pm to 1am, didn't tell a soul)Matching with my now-husband on day twoThailand, Bali, giving birth to my daughter Zizi — all while running my practiceThe loneliness that led me to build Digital Nomad Therapist Links + what's next: 🎙️ Next week I'm sharing the BUSINESS side — how I actually built a practice that let me impulsively take off abroad in the first place. 📞 If you know you want this and trying to figure it out alone isn't working, book a call with me — let's talk about how I can support you.
