Together, we explore the expectations, workplace cultures, and perceptions of professionalism that can contribute to masking, as well as the impact this can have on confidence, identity, wellbeing, and career progression. I also reflect on why creating psychologically safe and neuroinclusive environments is so important if we want people to thrive rather than simply fit in.     Welcome to the very first episode of Beyond the Diagnosis: Neurodiversity in Healthcare. I am incredibly excited (and honestly so nervous!) to finally be sharing this podcast with you. This project has been something I have poured a lot of time, thought, and passion into, and putting it out into the world feels both daunting and rewarding. In this opening episode, we explore what neurodiversity means within healthcare and why it is such an important conversation to have. We discuss the neurodiversity paradigm, challenge some common misconceptions, and consider how healthcare education and practice can become more inclusive for neurodivergent students, professionals, and patients. As an autistic physiotherapy student, this topic is both professionally and personally important to me. Through this podcast, I hope to create open, honest, and supportive conversations that encourage greater understanding, awareness, and inclusion across healthcare.
