From DJing to Daysync: Building the Future of Tour Management

Send us Fan Mail In this episode, I speak with Kenny Kemsley. He shares his journey from growing up in New Zealand, his early interest in music and DJing, to forming a band and touring across Australia and New Zealand. We discuss how these experiences laid the foundation for his understanding of the music industry and inspired him to create an app for artists and tour organizers. Kenny shares the journey of building Daysync, a tour management platform designed to simplify the lives of musicians and tour managers. In this episode, discover how technology can empower artists, the importance of community, and the future of music industry tools. Kenny's Bio: Kenny Kemsley is the founder of Capsule Labs and the creator of Daysync, a touring platform built for acts of every size, from club shows to stadium tours, all on the same platform. Daysync lowers the barrier to entry for independent and emerging artists by giving them access to the kind of professional touring and business tools historically reserved for larger acts, while scaling with them as they grow, so there's never a need to change platforms as a career develops. Kenny has always been a creative at heart, someone who has consistently sought to make an impact through his creative work. His path into the music industry began with studying audio engineering, after which he spent years playing in an independent band that was eventually signed by a label in Australia, all while working as a DJ on the side just to make ends meet, since the band's creative work alone wasn't paying the bills. That firsthand experience of trying to sustain a creative career gave him an intimate understanding of the operational and business challenges touring artists face, from scheduling and logistics to the broader struggle of turning creative work into a sustainable livelihood. That experience left him with a deep appreciation for the industry and its people, and ultimately led him to move into software as a new way to pursue the same drive for creative impact, this time by building products and services for the space he'd grown to love. Rather than starting from theory, Kenny has built Daysync from the inside, drawing on the relationships and network he maintains from his time in the industry. He works directly with artists, managers, and touring professionals across all levels, from grassroots to stadium scale, to understand how they actually operate day to day, using those ongoing conversations and connections to inform what gets built and to make sure the product reflects real, practical need rather than assumption. Since launching in November 2025, Daysync has been live and steadily growing its user base across the touring spectrum.
