Fast forward to moving to London, discovering DJing during lockdown, and now she's proudly celebrating her heritage through music! In this episode, we get into ittttt- from navigating identity and belonging, to the challenges of being a brown woman in the male-dominated DJ industry, and Nora's HUGE moment DJing the afterparty at MAHRAJAN this summer, London's first flagship Arab music festival!     GUYS, the universe has truly guided me to this DIVAAAA!! 💋 Yasmine Hamady (@childishyasmino) is a Lebanese-American actor, writer and comedian. She’s a baddie, she’s an icon, and she’s about to take over the WORLD!! MOST importantly, Yasmine is a fellow BAD ARAB. So much so, that she’s even written her very OWN original play, Bad Arab the Play - and NO, I had absolutely nothing to do with it!! 😭 We found each other on Instagram, instantly connected, fell in love, and now we’re very much supporting each other on our respective Bad Arab journeys. Great minds really do think alike, and that’s on PERIOD. In this episode, we get down + dirty talking about EVERYTHING - from Yasmine’s experience growing up in America, to her hilariously unfiltered stand-up comedy, navigating the entertainment industry (and its criticisms) as an Arab woman, and ultimately, what it REALLY means to be a Bad Arab. Ella, (ellawillstv), is an Iranian/Indian/ North London baddie who's amassed a crazyyy following online for her hilarious comedy sketches, stand up + loud activism for her community. You have DEFO seen her face pop up on your FYP + I can confirm she's just as jokes/more jokes IRL! We get into Ella’s relationship with comedy, why making people laugh can be such a powerful way of connecting with people, and what it’s REALLY like navigating the content creation world as a visibly brown, queer girl.
