What It Really Takes to Build a Media Career with Shane Beatty

Shane Beatty has been on air practically every day since 2006. In this episode, he explains how a teenage Saturday job in local radio led to national news, the White House and Newstalk's Breakfast Briefing.  Shane knew from the age of six or seven what he wanted to do for a living. He talks about how he got there and what the job is really like, including the early mornings, the pressure and the on-air mistakes, but that the genuine love for it is what keeps him going.  What you'll take away:  Finding work you love makes even the hardest days easier.  Starting early and taking small opportunities can lead to big things.  Being consistent matters more than being perfect.  Putting yourself forward and introducing yourself can open doors.  Pressure and criticism are part of any high-profile job, and you can learn to manage them.  Stamina and a strong work ethic matter as much as talent.    Connect with Niamh Buffini:  LinkedIn   Website   Instagram     Connect with Shane Beatty    Instagram  X
