Welcome To Scripture & Life | Eric Kahure

Hi, and welcome. My name is Eric Kahure, and I want to thank you for being here for the very first episode of Scripture & Life. You know, there are a lot of voices competing for your attention today. You have podcasts, news, and social media everywhere. A lot of them are loud, and a lot of them produce anxiety, to be honest. This little show is designed to be something different. It is a podcast, yes, competing for your attention as well, but actually for your good. It's designed to be simple. It's an invitation to quiet the noise for a few minutes, open the Bible with me, or just listen, and… look. Look at God in His Word. Because here's the conviction that drives everything we'll do together in this show: The greatest need of your daily life is not a new technique for productivity or a new strategy for stress management. Your greatest need, and mine, is to know God as He has actually revealed Himself in His Word. And then, out of that knowing, to live, to live for God. That's the heartbeat of Scripture & Life. It's right there in the name. Two things, held together inseparably. Scripture. And Life. In each episode, we're going to walk through a passage of the Bible together. Not rushingly. Not in a highly academic way. We're going to go slowly, like we're sitting at a kitchen table with a cup of tea and an open Book between us. We'll read the text, and then we'll ask one simple, central question: "What does this passage show us about our God?" Maybe it will be a glimpse of the Father's tender mercy in a Psalm. Maybe it will be a stunning portrait of the Lord Jesus Christ—His authority, His humility, His finished work on the cross. Maybe we'll see how the Holy Spirit works in the life of the church. Whatever the passage, we'll stop and we'll behold Him first. Because theology isn't just for scholars; it's for living, it’s for our lives. Right doctrine is the steady ground you stand on when your feelings are telling you something different. And you know just like I do, how our feelings fluctuate. But the Bible never leaves us just looking. It always calls us to walk. And so, in the second half of every episode, we will turn that truth into our lives. We'll get wonderfully, and helpfully practical. Not with abstract platitudes like "just trust God more," but with concrete handles for your everyday life. What does the Good Shepherd of Psalm 23 mean for how you respond to a frustrating email? What does the New Creation promise mean for how you endure chronic pain? What does the community of the early church in Acts 2 mean for how you share a meal with your church family this Sunday? I can promise you this: every episode will aim to give you one real, simple truth about God, and one real, simple way to walk in it. And at the end, I'll always try to point you back to the sweetest truth of all—that when you fail in that walk, your standing with God doesn't crumble, it is not threatened, because it rests on the perfect life, the atoning death, and the victorious resurrection of Jesus Christ. The gospel will be our safety net, every single time. So, this is Scripture & Life. It's a podcast for the person on their commute (maybe in a matatu or in your car), the mother folding laundry, the man or woman who just wants to know the Lord more deeply and follow Him more faithfully in the ordinary, beautiful, difficult stuff of life. If that sounds like you, I would be honored to have you along. The best way to tag along is to hit the subscribe or follow button right now, wherever you're listening. That way, our first full episode will show up for you automatically. Thank you for giving me a few minutes of your day. I do not take it for granted. Let's open the Word of God together. Until next time, may the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God the Father, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen!
