    Coach Harvey Hyde on USC's defensive staff shakeup

    On this episode of the Peristyle Podcasts hosts Ryan Abraham and Coach Harvey Hyde are back together discussing the major shakeup on the defensive side of the ball for the Trojans, with Gary Patterson coming in as the new defensive coordinator, Paul Gonzales from Baylor to come in and help coach the secondary and former TCU safety Sam Carter from Louisiana Tech for a role on the staff as well. Coach Hyde gives his thoughts on what we learned from Patterson's introductory press conference, including his issue with Lincoln Riley not staying up on stage after introducing Patterson to the media. He also gives his thoughts on USC's 2026 schedule, with only 11 games as of now after Notre Dame came off the schedule. The Trojans play all three Big Ten playoff teams from last season and have two bye weeks with some extra rest in the middle of the season.     Previewing USC baseball's 2026 offense with hitting coach Travis Jewett

    The Dedeaux Download podcast, part of the Peristyle Podcast family of shows, returns with the 2026 college baseball beginning in two weeks. Shotgun Spratling and Kasey Kazliner with the first episode in our three-part season preview, leading up to the start of the 2026 USC baseball season. In part one of the season preview series, USC assistant and hitting coach Travis Jewett joins the Dedeaux Download to talk about what the Trojans took away from their first regional appearance in 10 years and what they learned from a disappointing regional final finish against a national seed Oregon State squad.     Both USC basketball teams earn marquee victories

    USC 2026 schedule release plus Gary Patterson introductory press conference

    The dates for 11 of USC football's 12 games, including all nine conference games, were released Tuesday.     Instant Reaction: USC hires Gary Patterson as defensive coordinator

    USC's defensive coordinator search came to an official close on Friday with the hiring of Gary Patterson, the former TCU head coach. Patterson was seen as the clear leader for the job over the course of the last several days.  Above you catch watch the Instant Reaction from USCFootball.com analyst Chris Trevino and Shotgun Spratling.  Patterson went 181-79 as head coach of TCU, and he was the Horned Frogs' defensive coordinator for three years before taking over as head coach. Additionally, Patterson has coached defensive backs and linebackers in his career.  "We are excited to welcome Gary and his family to USC," said head coach Lincoln Riley via a statement from USC. "As a Hall of Fame coach, who is one of the game's most highly regarded defensive minds, he brings a wealth of success and experience to our program. His impact will be immediate, elevating our defense and strengthening the culture we've built. We're proud to welcome him to the Trojan Family." Patterson was the defensive play caller as TCU's head coach, and he ran a unique 4-2-5 defensive scheme that used a versatile nickelback.
