Fall camp stocks, third annual Over/Unders, Odyssey talk

The Helium Boys, Shotgun Spratling and Chris Trevino, return to the airwaves with their annual preseason Over/Under edition of the podcast discussing a number of statistical categories for both USC's team and individual players and whether the Trojans will be 'over' or 'under' the line set by Chris. But first the podcasting duo open with the Two-Minute Drill  where Shotgun talks about his confidence level in the Trojans after spending a week in Los Angeles to see the team while Chris talks about his excitement for the Over/Under episode, which is one of his favorite every year. The boys of Helium jump into prior comments and corrections before jumping into the 'Stock Up/Stock Down' section where the big boys up front on the offensive line wind up on both sides as does the kicking competition. The direction of the linebackers and defensive line also are discussed. The conclusion of the first half of the show has Chris rattling off all of last year's Over/Under categories and seeing how Shotgun did in his prognostication of those statistical lines with him finishing 14-12 on the offensive side and 11-12 on the defensive side. Shotgun gets his shot at redemption and/or improvement in the second half of the show as Chris breaks out a whole new bevy of statistical categories for Shotgun to declare over/unders against. The show concludes with an Overtime period discussing the movie The Odyssey and watching a movie in a 70mm IMAX theatre.

USC football closes in on 2026 season

Despite being on two different networks, Shotgun Spratling and Chris Trevino are finally reunited after a four-month hiatus, returning to the microphones in Chris' living room to talk about USC football as the Trojans close in on the start of the 2026 season. The podcasting duo open with the Two-Minute Drill  where Shotgun talks baseball and Chris talks about Lincoln Riley's uncomfortable photo shoot at Big Ten Media Days. The boys of Helium jump into prior comments and corrections before breaking down the latest big news taking place around Howard Jones Field. They discuss the disappointing news of Kilian O'Connor's season-ending injury and what possible options the Trojans can turn to. They also talk about the opening of the Bloom Football Performance Center and the reinstitution of the USC-Notre Dame rivalry. The conclusion of the first half of the show features discussion of the most interesting takeaways and quotes from USC players' media availability from Big Ten Media Days and USC Media Day, including Alani Noa talking about his absence from the Alamo Bowl, Jaydn Walker hurting when watching his spring film and coach Zach Hanson saying he wants "cohesive, consistent carnage" from the offensive line unit. The Helium Boys then dive into the second half of the show to compare Top 30 Most Important Trojans lists, debating the placement of players and who could be in line for some notable changes once fall camp concludes. The show concludes with an Overtime period featuring some summer staples.

USC fall camp kicks off and the Bloom Center officially opens

In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham and RJ Abeytia are back in studio talking about USC kicking off fall camp practices as the team gets ready for the highly anticipated 2026 college football season. With a fully open practice on Saturday and then two more opportunities to see the Trojans on Tuesday and Wednesday morning, Ryan and RJ give their thoughts on how the team is looking this first week of fall camp. Around 40 players and coaches were available on Monday for USC's preseason media day and the guys discuss what everyone had to say about their preparation for the season. Lincoln Riley spoke after Tuesday's workout and he shared details about the team's roster size and how the new five years to play five seasons rule is a positive development for the Trojans, especially considering the huge freshman class that is now available to play every game. The guys also discuss the revival of the USC vs. Notre Dame series, with four games scheduled from 2030 to 2033. The Trojans wanted the games moved to early in the season to accommodate the travel of the Big Ten conference schedule and the Irish wanted to keep the game in October/November. When both sides couldn't come to an agreement, the series was paused and now we know it will be a four year hiatus before this storied rivalry gets going again. The preseason Coaches Poll was released this week and USC came in at No. 14 behind three Big Ten opponents, Ohio State (1), Oregon (2) and Indiana (6), all three of which face the Trojans this season. USC will also face No. 17 Penn State and No. 19 Washington.
