    Coach Harvey Hyde not happy with the Trojans performance against Rutgers

    On this episode of the Peristyle Podcasts hosts Ryan Abraham and Coach Harvey Hyde are back together discussing USC's clunker of a win over Rutgers. The Trojans held on for their first road win and conference win of the season against what was likely the worst team in the Power Four conferences, needing a 99-yard pick six to seal the deal. Coach Hyde opens the show with a long rant, talking about how this Trojan football team has lost its identity. He wants to see head coach Lincoln Riley be a true head coach and not just an offensive coordinator and he wants to see the physical toughness that was always associated with USC football back for this program. The support is there, Riley has been given everything he could possibly want or need to build a winning football program and through four games this Trojan squad doesn't look like it is a championship caliber team.  Defensively, Coach Hyde isn't happy with the pressure the front seven of this USC defense is generating. At times things are getting too fancy with defensive ends and nose tackles dropping back in coverage. Coach Hyde feels that this side of the ball isn't good at anything because it is trying to be good at everything. They need to be good at what they do and not try and do too much, because you end up not being good at any of it.     Tunnel Vision - Discussing the Trojans unsatisfying 42-35 victory over Rutgers

    On this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Ryan Abraham, RJ Abeytia and intern Riley Sager are back in studio breaking down USC's first road and first conference victory of the season, a 42-35 clunker over Rutgers. The Trojans were not able to play a clean game on Saturday, but took advantage of some major Scarlet Knights mistakes to turn what could have been an inexplicable upset into a rather unsatisfying victory. Quarterback Jayden Maiava missed on some easy throws but he did have a pair of touchdowns with no interceptions and the USC run game was effective most of the game. The real issue was on defense and special teams where miscues stacked on miscues, allowing Rutgers to move the ball up and down the field and even convert a long 4th and 21 with a 40-yard fake punt conversion. Penalties were also a major issue, with USC picking up 8 flags for 76 yards. The crew discusses everything that happened in the game and what this rather poor effort means for the rest of the season, including next weekend's all-important matchup with the Oregon Ducks.     Tunnel Vision: Previewing USC's first road game of the season, a Big Ten matchup against Rutgers

    On this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's, Ryan Abraham and intern India Otto are back in studio talking about USC's matchup with the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. This will be the first game away from the friendly confines of the Coliseum as well as the first conference game for the Trojans. It is another huge point spread, with USC favored by 23.5 points against a struggling RU squad that already lost to UMass at home and Boston College on the road. Ryan and India breakdown what they know about Rutgers and what sort of threat this Scarlet Knights program could pose on the Trojans. Lincoln Riley is looking to make a run to the College Football Playoffs and that starts with win No. 1 in Big Ten conference play. This game is a real opportunity for the Trojans, not only to get that first conference win but also showing that this team is capable of playing well on the road, even against an undermanned foe.     With the preseason over, USC hits the road to start Big Ten play

    Tunnel Vision - Interviewing CBS CFB analyst Charles Davis and Fred Segal from Old Takes Exposed

    On this special edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com publisher Ryan Abraham welcomes in a pair of guests to talk about different aspects of USC football. First up is CBS college football color commentator Charles Davis, who will be on the broadcast for USC at Rutgers this weekend along with legendary play-by-play man Brad Nessler.     USC closes out non-con with Louisiana, Rutgers road trip and inventions

    The Helium Boys, Shotgun Spratling and Chris Trevino, are back behind the microphones breaking down the latest USC contest after the Trojans completed their non-conference schedule, improving to 3-0 on the season with a 49-30 victory over Louisiana late Saturday night in the Los Angeles Coliseum. They also preview the USC's upcoming matchup where it will travel across the country to take on Rutgers. The podcasting duo opens with the Two-Minute Drill  where Chris discusses being ready to move forward to Big Ten play while Shotgun talks about how the youngest and oldest people on the roster are the ones leading the Trojans to a 3-0 record so far. The boys of Helium jump into listener comments and corrections before breaking down the Trojans' up-and-down victory over the Ragin' Cajuns -- one where there was a clear separation between what USC's starters and reserves are capable of at this point. They talk about the shining freshmen while some veterans are lagging behind expectations. Shotgun and Chris then, after a break, take a look forward at USC traveling to the birthplace of college football for the upcoming matchup with Rutgers and an 0-2 Scarlet Knights team that hasn't looked good but has one of the nation's top performers so far this season in wide receiver KJ Duff.
