Thankful, Grateful, Blessed, pt. 1 - For My Friends

Passage: Philippians 1:3–5; Proverbs 18:24; John 15:13–15; Galatians 6:2; Philippians 4:6–7; Ephesians 1:16–17; 1 Corinthians 1:4; 1 Thessalonians 1:2 This series is about perspective: even in a brutal year, the preacher chooses to honor God and his mother by noticing what has gone right, not only what has gone wrong. Today he thanks God for friends, including this church, and draws on Paul’s letters to show what real friendship looks like. The big idea is that you are thankful, grateful, and blessed no matter your circumstances, if you have even one person who truly has your back. Key Takeaways: This month is about perspective. It is human to fixate on what is wrong, but we can choose to see what is going right—and you are thankful, grateful, and blessed regardless of your circumstances.A friend shares your burdens, has a stake in your growth, and genuinely wants what is best for you. Real friends stay through highs and lows; ten years of friendship still matters. You do not need a lot of friends. You need real ones. One reliable friend is worth a hundred unreliable acquaintances—cherish them and tell them they matter.Jesus is the truest friend. He laid down his life, calls you friend, and invites deep intimacy with him—not servitude for its own sake, but friendship that obeys him.Great friends focus on what they can give, not what they can get. You do not have to be everyone’s friend; you can still be kind while stepping back from one-sided relationships.Pray for your friends. That joins God’s work in their lives, shares their burdens, and eases the crushing weight of loneliness.Loneliness is one of Satan’s favorite tools. When you feel alone, remember: people love you, people pray for you, and God is fighting for you.Carry each other’s burdens. Be a source of joy to others, and thank the people who have been that for you—do not take their effort for granted. The answer to prayer is not always getting what you asked for. It is the peace of God guarding your heart—and purposeful prayer for wisdom and revelation helps friends see life as God sees it.Friendship requires grace, the way God has been gracious to you. That is not being a doormat, but refusing grudges that leave you isolated—and refusing to throw people away the way God did not throw you away.

Come, Jesus Come, pt. 7 - The Triumphant Return

Passage: Revelation 19–22 After Babylon falls, heaven answers with worship and Jesus returns as the conquering King, not the sacrificial Lamb. The preacher walks through the wedding feast, the thousand-year reign, and the new heaven and new earth, then keeps pressing what that means for waiting on God, real worship, and telling people the truth. Key Takeaways: The martyrs had to wait, but justice comes in God’s time. Never doubt that the Lord is working on your behalf, even when the wait is unfair and hard.If you hold on and stay true in Christ, the truth will out. What is hidden will be seen.Worship belongs to the Creator, not what He creates. When we worship circumstances, our “faith” collapses the moment life turns bad.The second coming is the Lion, not the Lamb. His blazing eyes mean you cannot hide who you are from God, and He will judge accordingly. We love Lamb Jesus and ignore Lion Jesus. Both are real. Lion Jesus brings accountability, and that uncomfortable truth is still true. You serve an undefeatable Savior. Stop living like a victim. The church has gotten soft, stays silent to avoid offense, and people are not being saved because of it.You know someone who needs Jesus and you are not telling them because it is easier. He would rather be the bad guy than see their blood on Christ’s robes.Debates over when the millennium fits are not worth dividing the church. What matters is that these events happen: Christ wins, Satan is bound, there is a thousand years of peace, then judgment and a new creation. You will either be with God in that new heaven and new earth, or separated from Him. There is no worse outcome than being cut off from the Father.Christ is coming soon. Our job is to prepare His bride by sharing the gospel so as many as possible are ready when He comes—and so we are not keeping grace to ourselves for comfort’s sake.

Come, Jesus Come, pt. 5 - Seals, Trumpets, and Bowls

Passage: Revelation 6–16 The Lamb opens the seals, and the trumpets and bowls pour out God’s wrath on a world that will not repent. The preacher wants those judgments heard as real events still ahead, in the three and a half years before Jesus comes. Then he presses what that means for sin, forgiveness, and how we love people. Key Takeaways: These events are literal and still future. They are not symbols, and they are not headlines already in the news. They come after the rapture, on people who have not repented and trusted Jesus. The rider on the white horse is not Jesus. He conquers with a bow and no arrows, and only God could unite the world that peacefully.God himself sends these judgments. They break the laws of nature so no one can mistake them for an accident, and the living would rather die than face him. Some people will repent in the middle of it and be spared. Many will not, and we often do the same thing when God is clearly right.Even while the bowls are being poured out, God is still leaving room to repent. He is holding out hope to the end. This is why we share the gospel. That wrath is coming for everyone who will not repent and confess that Jesus is Lord, no matter how decent they seem. What is fair is that all of us deserve it, because we killed the Son. He is still willing to forgive. That is the gospel. The truth does not answer to our feelings. We are not God, and we do not know better than the Creator.Love the Lord with all you are, and love your neighbor by telling them the truth plainly and calling them to repent. You get one life. Do not put that off.
