When it comes to musical interviews, there's nothing I enjoy more than hearing who inspired a musician and what aspects of a song really spoke to him or her. This podcast does that perfectly. Each guest brings 12 songs that influenced him (all men so far), they're played in their entirety (no snippets here), and then discussed in enough detail to understand their importance without becoming dragged down by fan-worship. And these guys are truly fans of the songs and artists they discuss. Every single podcast has introduced me to someone I had never heard before, or had paid little attention to, or had glossed over without really understanding what they were doing, and in doing so has opened up whole new avenues of music. Hopkins is a great interviewer: he lets his guest shine, never--okay, almost never--mocks the song selection, and keeps the show moving. The fact that they drink up while recording the podcast often leads to some pretty amusing moments towards the end of each show. Excellent work and I eagerly look forward to each new episode.
