    Turn Back and Give Glory—Moments with the Master—Josiah Kagin

    Have you every done something to bless someone and never received thanks for it? It is difficult. It makes us search our motives. This happened to Christ as He was traveling to Jerusalem from Galilee. He paused to compassionately heal ten lepers from their humanly, incurable disease. Even though ten were healed, only one returned to give Christ the glory and gratitude.     Live Holy—Josiah Kagin

    For sixteen years, idolatry and wickedness increased all across Jerusalem and the kingdom of Judah during the reign of King Ahaz. Places of worship to Canaanite and Assyrians gods were erected throughout the city. The temple of the Lord God was desecrated with uncleanness, the vessels were cut up, and its doors were closed. Out of the midst of this intense spiritual darkness, God raised up King Hezekiah. Though he was the son of Ahaz, he had a heart to obey God and sought to call the whole country back to holy living before the Lord.     Have Faith in God—Josiah Kagin

    During the final week of Christ’s ministry before the crucifixion, He was traveling from Bethany to Bethany with his Disciples. He was hungry and spotted a fig tree. From a distance it looked like it should have figs, but when Jesus got closer, it was barren. It had leaves, but no figs. He cursed it.  It was the sad picture of a fruitless nation that had all the blessings of God, but provides no life-giving blessings to others.  As they were leaving the city of Jerusalem the next morning, Peter noticed that the cursed fig tree was completely withered.     Coming to the Table

    Coming to the Lord’s Table “...this do ye...” (1 Corinthians 11:25) Coming to the Lord’s Table is a privilege purchased for us at the cross of Calvary. This is a privilege afforded only to those who know Christ as Savior. Coming to the Lord’s Table is a joy as we rejoice in the relationship which we have with God through Christ. Coming to the Lord’s Table is an opportunity to offer up to God an offering of praise and thanksgiving. Coming to the Lord’s Table is an obligation. Some have the idea that the choice is theirs as to whether they will participate. It is not! We are commanded to come. Some would excuse themselves for absenting the Lord’s Table because there is sin in their lives. While it is most unwise and unhealthy to remember the sacrifice for sin with unconfessed sin, the obligation remains. The answer is to deal with the sin which hinders and then come to God’s Table in forgiveness and obedience. To fail to come is to disobey.     Comforting Others —Midweek—Josiah Kagin

    From the moment sinned entered into the world, suffering, pain and loss became a very real part of life. No doubt you have faced seasons of pain when you felt like you were going to be crushed under it’s weight. In those moments, true comfort is both needed and long for. We have wonderful promises and examples throughout Scripture assuring us of God’s comfort. One of the ways that God fulfills His promise to comfort us is through the comfort of other believers.
