Episode 21. Jimmy Winkles

Jamie Slater aka Jimmy Winkles is a complete vinyl nut residing in Devon, a very rural part of the UK. Having grown up listening to underground hip hop he moved onto various forms of hypnotic styles of dance music taking in their influences through Jazz, Blues and Funk digging deep into the sources of where modern day contemporary music has originated from. With a firm grasp on heavy groove and idiosyncratic selection Jimmy shares a journey through music and what he feels can move both the feet and the mind, tugging on some heart strings along the way. Working close to Greta Cottage Workshop founder Matt Densham aka Onlyz with their regular fm radio show, Winkles has been able to hone his skills in piecing together a very broad selection of music, on the fly, improvising in building bridges between various styles of interesting and challenging music. He's currently working on material for Raul Saaremets's Pudru Kuul/Porridge Bullet imprint in the meanwhile searching for nuggets pressed to wax in the dustiest of crates
