The Free School Podcast Episode #25 - DJ Dick (Rockers Hi-FI) & Adam Regan (Leftfoot)

Our quarter-century is up! And to celebrate we had to commiserate! Richard Whittingham (DJ Dick), formerly of Rockers Hi-Fi is leaving these shores for Sicily and we asked his old compadre Adam Regan of Leftfoot to join him for an evening of exotic food, music and hot chat. Our third special guest, Steve Cobby, formerly of Fila Brazillia, had to be chopped for sounding too much like he was on speakerphone (which he was). Apologies Steve, sir. Hot topics include: Brummies in San Francisco, an early Mute Records release, the infamous ‘Different Drummer’ poem, midnight jazz & the amazing ECM label (still can’t believe Dick did a remix for them!), John Peel warming and then cooling to Dick, a nightmare gig in Eastern Europe for Adam and finally DJing as artistry. You can buy Steve’s new album ‘Saudade’ here: http://stevecobby.co.uk/releases We have our new t-shirts for sale here: http://freeschool.bigcartel.com/ Our next date: 5th Sept - Bossa Nova Civic Club, Brooklyn (DJ Set) - http://bossanovacivicclub.com/ Thanks for your support, Steve & Andy Tracklisting: 1. The Golden Billionnaire - Steve Cobby 2. East Flows The River - The Soul Jazz Orchestra 3. Soul Vibration - 3IO 4. Feeling Good - Gene Ammons 5. Triumph Of The Gods - Psychemagik 6. The Free School Podcast Episode 22 - Eternal Sunshine Mix

The Free School Podcast #Episode 17

Hey Free Schoolers, we've got a mix for you this month. The mix is due to go out in NYC on Chris Tarantino's radio show on WFMU called The Private Sector (http://wfmu.org/playlists/PV). With that in mind we wanted to showcase a lil' bit o' Birmingham, interspersing very English music with very American music. Plus The Field. Plus Moderat. Plus Broken Social Scene. Ok, so we didn't stick to it for the entire 90 mins but there really isn't that much English or American music out there... Hope you like the mix, feedback always welcome.
