Dean. Four songs on this double album are 12-tone adjacent. They use 12-tone rows but are not strict proper 12-tone, I learned the rules to break them, but it’s more “serial-inspired” or “post-serial” than textbook dodecaphony. Some utilize “super-rows” (row chains) of multiple 12-tone rows in a row, then treated as semi-standard from there. There are some inverts, reverts, plus both, but some free use of all. The four songs are: “Ding Dong, Stockhausen Is Dead” “Barlow Bortle Binning Bias Bahtinov Bayer Broadband Backfocus” “She’s My Dummy Load” “Live Witnessing Wiggling Active Region Filaments” “She’s My Dummy Load” is also microtonal it’s in diaphonic 12a (2nd 12-tone Diaphonic Cycle, conjunctive form on 10/7 and 7/5_ Also, this song starts at 455 BPM and ends up at 1 BPM. “Barlow Bortle Binning Bias Bahtinov Bayer Broadband Backfocus” sounds microtonal, but it’s not. It just has some very out of tune parts, intentionally. In Krist Novoselic’s 2021 blog post praising my old band Bomb, he says that I’m now “a sober libertarian / electronic musician (Including some 12 Tone composing)” https://deepriverdispatch.com/musicwriting/bomb.html I told him “I do microtonal, not 12-Tone…that’s like saying Nirvana’s a blues band.” Actually “Nirvana’s a blues band” would have more truth, technically. He didn’t correct it (he’s a busy guy, and I’ve made it true now.) https://deepriverdispatch.com/musicwriting/bomb.html Words for “I Successfully Cheated The Universe” from the novel “Starving in the Company of Beautiful Women” by Michael W. Dean (2000, Kittyfeet Press, link https://amzn.to/3TW0rjm ) TITLE NOTES: “Hydrogen-alpha – So Hot Right Now!”, song title came from a comment by u/ScienceForge319 Comment byu/9388E3 from discussion inspaceporn That person was making a double entendre about one of my solar photos, but is also obviously referencing a line in Zoolander. “Sucker Punch Park”, title from Bean Von Beansteen, formerly bass player of Helios Creed. Cover art by MWD made from this, original photo by Guillaume Paumier, covered by Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 license. My edit/addition to the cover is a little dark humor, but not crass. It means “Music can save your life.” Fun fact: someone once told me my band Bomb kept him from killing himself. Album makes extensive use of the free VST “Pretty Good Sampler” and its default samples. Church bells in “Like I’m Coming from Every Pore” were recorded by Sadiquecat! Church of St. Salvy, Catholic church in Albi, France 250629_07h58 Albi Church of St. Salvy – Bells – MKE600 (bells of another church from Sadiquecat too) Nebulium is a non-existent element that was once thought to exist in nebulae, and it was considered a “forbidden” element. Technical explanation of Nebulium and Forbidden Lines is here. Song title explanation for “Like I’m Coming from Every Pore” When I was young, I read a book in the library in my home town that had a description of someone injecting Peruvian marching powder intravenously. She said it felt like “Coming from every pore.” It was spelled “coming” not “cumming”, and I thought it meant “arriving from every pore” which I liked the sound of. I didn’t know what “cumming” meant yet. MICROTONAL INFO: “Mister Bristle’s Eerie Spleen” has 19-TET melody / solos over a mostly 12-TET song. “Snorting Forbidden Crystalline Nebulium Sulfate” is in Just Intonation, Euler’s Monochord (a mode of Ellis’s duodene), genus [33355] to be specific. (FROM GROK): “Euler’s concept of the monochord originates from his 1739 treatise Tentamen novae theoriae musicae, where he explored musical scales as divisions of a single string (the monochord) into harmonic intervals based on rational ratios, primarily using prime factors 2, 3, and 5. He classified these divisions into genera (or genera musici), which are finite sets of pitches forming a closed system under octave equivalence. Each genus is notated as a bracketed sequence of interval steps, such as [55] for the diatonic genus or [35] for a simpler 5-limit structure.” Here’s how it differs from 12-TET Note Just ¢ TET ¢ Diff C 0.0 0 0.0 D♭ 111.7 100 +11.7 D 203.9 200 +3.9 E♭ 315.6 300 +15.6 E 386.3 400 -13.7 F 498.0 500 -2.0 F♯ 590.2 600 -9.8 G 701.9 700 +1.9 A♭ 813.7 800 +13.7 A 884.4 900 -15.6 B♭ 1017.6 1000 +17.6 B 1088.3 1100 -11.7 C’ 1200.0 1200 0.0 “Definition • Genus: In the context of Euler-Fokker genera, the notation 3335533355 33355 (or 3·53 center dot 5 3·5 ) indicates that the pitches in the scale are generated using the prime factors 3 and 5, where the exponents relate to the number of basic intervals used to build the system. The degree is the sum of the exponents (3+2=5 intervals). • Number of Tones: The number of unique pitches within the octave for this genus is determined by adding one to each exponent and multiplying them: (3+1) × (2+1) = 4 × 3 = 12 tones. • Tuning: The system is a just intonation scale, meaning the frequency ratios between notes are expressed as ratios of small whole numbers (specifically powers of 2, 3, and 5). • Monochord: The name refers to the ancient instrument (a single string with a movable bridge) used to demonstrate and calculate these precise mathematical relationships and musical intervals. • Ellis’s Duodene: This tuning is considered a specific “mode” or variant within Alexander Ellis’s broader system called the “duodene,” which also explores various 5-limit just intonation scales. This particular system was one of many historical attempts by Leonhard Euler and other theorists to mathematically define a tuning system that produced pleasant-sounding consonant intervals, primarily focusing on major triads with the 4:5:6 frequency ratios” Get pasteable BipTunia street art, PDF download  Large cover art, click below then download:

“Chime Wave Variations” – Albums 108, 109, and 110 from BipTunia. LISTEN FREE

Chime Wave Variations by BipTunia Run Time: 140 Minutes Street Date: May 19, 2025. (Triple album produced 13 days after last album was released, which was a double album, which was 11 days after the previous double album.) TRACK LIST: 1. Berlin BipTunia Radio Ad 2. Stardust Sampler Stomp 3. Glistening Spores on Distant Shores 4. Cavernous Chords from Clouds of Spores 5. Bell-Shaped Void in the Neon Abyss 6. Clang of the Cosmic Junkyard 7. Clangor in the Circuit Swamp 8. Intergalactic Garage Band Audition 9. Twilight Soundscapes for Cat Dinner Bell and Crickets 10. Toadstool Tunes for Twilight Caves MICROTONAL SONG: “Bell-Shaped Void in a Neon Abyss” is in ZESTER C (8 Harmonic six-star, group C on Eb, from Fokker) Listen / buy on BandCamp Listen on Spotify (coming soon) FLAC lossless torrent (coming soon) CREDITS All writing, playing, engineering, production, mixing, and mastering by Michael W. Dean. Except voiceover on Radio ad and Stardust song using that VO by DJ Nunzio Vincento. NOTES: Other than drums, the main instrument on most of this album is the VST I made, “Pretty Good Sampler”, plus some of the presets, and the one bell sound / cat dish I sampled while making this. I played all of it with an SMC (except for the jazz piano chords FIND LINKS) For the very ELP lead sounds, I used the first preset on two VSTs I made, “Shiny Dirt” and “Lucky Worm.” On the one microtonal song, I used the same samples but use the VST I made, “Simple Microtonal Sampler” here FLAC LOSSLESS 24-bit torrent of “POLYPHONIC TOAD MIGRATION” – Album 104 and 105 from BipTunia There’s also some Taurus bass pedal on some songs, and a Rickenbacker bass guitar, an organ on a couple songs, and a piano. There is no AI music on this album, it is all human-produced by Michael W. Dean. MWD did use GROK AI to help make the album cover (Prompts: Neon bell, and large neon letter C, in rural setting…for C I also asked fro Wild Flowers). AI was used for a few of the song titles. (Prompt “give me 100 song titles that would fit for the music project BipTunia, and have something to do with bells, clang, or chime”) “Twilight Soundscapes for Cat Dinner Bell and Crickets” We have this heavy steel / copper pan we use to cover the cat food outside during morning and afternoon to keep birds from scarfing it. When we remove it around dinner time (and “open the cat cafe”) we clang it, Bandit usually hears and walks up to snack. It’s noisy / clangy, but kind of musical. I hit it and recorded it, around twilight outside, you hear a clang, then crickets in our yard. I made that into a sample for “Pretty Good Sampler.” First thing you hear in this song is as it really sounds at the real pitch. The rest of the song is 4 tracks of it played with an MPC just as MIDI imput. (One track has an effect I made, “Orion Ring Mod”). Plus the song has some drums, synth bass (“Sine” preset on Pretty Good Sampler), and strings (“Strings” preset on Pretty Good Sampler). It’s kind of harsh, but I kind of love it. I also used this sample in the songs “Clang of the Cosmic Junkyard”, “Clangor in the Circuit Swamp”, “Cavernous Chords from Clouds of Spores”, “Bell-Shaped Void in a Neon Abyss”, and “Toadstool Tunes for Twilight Caves.” Album makes extensive use of the free VST “Pretty Good Sampler” and its default samples. Also there’s a lot of use of 3 other VSTs I made and give away: Microtone 5000, FreakBone 9000, and Simple Microtonal Sampler. I used a keyboard on the jazz piano chords on 2 songs.
