    Takin’ It OLD SCHOOL! | OS 1431

    It’s Old School Kingfish Shootout Saturday! Capt. Kirk was doing OSR with his son, and Capt. Kevin was busy vying for the big money, so Jeff brought in Tru Luvin’ Fishing’s Domenic Paniccia and Rick Hall to fill the chairs and have some fun. Coverage began with the one and only Paul Dozier, who gave everyone the complete rundown on the tournament, and continued throughout the morning with calls from a bunch of Old School anglers – Harley Bryan from CSS, Dave Edwards, Capt. Chris Stevens, “Mullethead” Paul, and more. Here’s the bonus: not only will you hear reports about how they’re doing, but you’ll be able to pick up a lot of tips – you might need to listen to this one with a notepad. The Old School was the headline for this episode, as expected, but when you have Rick Hall in the house, you gotta talk hunting, too.     Storytime with Capt. Larry Miniard! | OS 1430

    Jeff was out on OSR in Georgia, so Capt. Kevin and Capt. Kirk called on local icon Capt. Larry Miniard to sit in once again. The laughs started early, and they went all show long! The weather, unfortunately, has continued to be distinctly un-funny. Water conditions are still messy, wind continues to be pushy, salinity levels are still wonky…what’s an angler to do? FYI – things MAY be looking better (go ahead and cross your fingers). Now the great part about having a guy like Capt.     Kingfish…and No Fish | OS 1429

    This time of year, the boys are typically talking fishing non-stop. Unfortunately, this week, they were talking about the weather – and the significant lack of fish. They were thankful for the rain, of course, but the combination of conditions was making everything tough. The Old School Kingfish Shootout is on the horizon, and birthday boy Paul Dozier called in to hype it up (like it needs any hype, right?). After that, the conversation shifted to the “interesting” fishing conditions and left everyone asking where the fish were. Ed Malin also called in during the episode to talk about his tournament, the Kingfish Shootout. Now if you’ve been listening for a while, and you’ve heard Ed call in, you know there’s no telling where things are going to go. This time is no different, so buckle up, sit back and enjoy the ride!     Oh SNAP! The Details of Snapper Turf War of 2026 | OS 1428

    Capt. Kirk was out doing some OSR, so Capt. Kevin and Jeff welcomed in Harley from CSS Fireplaces and Outdoor Living, along with some heavy hitters for a special episode of the show. The headline story, as you know, was the blocking of snapper season by a federal judge…THE DAY BEFORE THE SEASON BEGAN. Yeah, we know. Here’s the thing: it’s complicated, so the boys brought in Brett Hastings, attorney extraordinaire, to explain a bit of it in a way we can all understand. This is a MUST-LISTEN for anyone who fishes our waters or benefits from recreational fishing in any way – which is all of us. But this story goes beyond the legal aspects, so the boys brought in Dr. Darin Willingham to talk about it, too. He talked about the fisheries and the effects of the injunction on local recreational anglers as well as the economic impact on the community. Of course, we’re all trying to figure out what to do next.
