Creation

McKnight Crossings Church guest preacher, Matthew Bardowell, helps us begin a new sermon series focusing on taking in the, metaphorical, larger picture of moments, life, and history. Beginning at ‘the beginning’, Matthew reintroduces us to God and our world as all things are coming into existence. We are challenged to examine how God and the Creation process are a perpetual ongoing process that repeats everyday and includes us and God loving the beauty of all He created, and all he continue to create, including you, and me.

Walk by the Spirit

McKnight Crossings Church lead minister, Andrew Owens, wraps up our sermon series by challenging us to take action, step out on faith, and simply walk forward along the path that we believe God is setting out for us. We are encouraged that, so long as we take the Holy Spirit and God with us, we will not be wrong because God will be there to use us for His good. Andrew challenges us to take that step into faith and trust the Holy Spirit to lead us, so long as we trust, listen, and focus on moving with God and His Holy Spirit.

How Will We Know It’s the Spirit?

McKnight Crossings Church lead minister, Andrew Owens, acknowledges that often this unseen Holy Spirit can be claimed when it is likely not a message from the Spirit, or God. Andrew points to the Bible’s guidance about how to discern when the message is from the Holy Spirit. We are reminded that when we have a relationship with God, through Christ, and thereby the Holy Spirit, we will recognize the Spirit and God because we know them personally. Andrew also gives us guidelines to measure a moment against to discern if the Spirit is leading the way forward.

The Sacred Art of Listening

McKnight Crossings Church youth minister, Nathan Strickland, asks us to consider the numerous debates and conversations that often happen amongst a church congregation as they debate what is and isn’t appropriate in a church. Nathan aks us to consider not only the content of these debates, but our motivations for holding to opinions so strongly, as well as whether Christ and God would even want us considering these debates; are they what is truly important? We are challenged to consider how we use our time and on what we place our focus; is it where and how Jesus Christ would focus and spend time?
