I’ve always really liked this political podcast from a punk and vegan perspective, especially the way Derek and Chris are willing to examine their own beliefs and criticize themselves. But, now at the end of podcasts, they’ve started going through the albums released by the G7 Welcoming Committee label. They aren’t so much playing songs but talking about the how the albums got released and their opinions of them 15 years or so years later. But the (mock) meat of the podcasts is political analysis. As an example, a recent one as of this writing looked at rape in Canada’s progressive community. It contained some mind-blowing thoughts about how to address the issue outside the justice system, which must fail acquaintance rape cases because of evidentiary realities that mean there will always be reasonable doubt over whether the facts in evidence could also mean the act was consensual. You can sense them learning as their interview goes along — this is one of many with women guests. The show is very inclusive. Recurring themes: feminism, indigenous rights, veganism, punk rock, white privilege and crappy Hollywood movies.
