There is a very "real" quality to Pastor Eric's sermons. He clearly thinks very deeply about the material he is teaching, and just as deeply about how to present it in an enjoyable accessible way to his listeners. He fearlessly engages heavy topics without alienating anyone, while simultaneously challenging everyone to think about what any Biblical or theological theme means for them practically, in the day to day life of their own work, family, and spirituality. His education is obvious, but best of all his humor and personal transparency openly reveal that he is genuinely working all of this out in his own life, even as he invites his congregants and learners to stretch themselves. I've had the privilege of preaching here a few months ago and was inpressed by the depth of the sense of Christian community at the Gate. Pastor Eric asks hard questions, doesn't give easy answers, and isn't afraid to lead his people into deep discussion of the biblical text.

If you can’t make it to church every Sunday, this is a great way to stay in touch with the church and with the awesome Rev. Eric Schwartz. Truly inspiring sermons, and a great guy too.

As an atheist, I wouldn't normally listen to a sermon-based podcast, but I really enjoy the approach and the ability to make the material relatable. Give it a listen.
