    The C.​O.​W.​S. The Memoirs of Robert & Mabel Williams Part 13 Not Just a Housewife #FOIA

    The Katherine Massey Book Club @ The C.O.W.S. hosts Session 13 on The Memoirs of Robert & Mabel Williams: African American Freedom, Armed Resistance, & International Solidarity. We read the first portion of Mabel Williams' memoir and commented on how her perspective on Racism evolved over her life. A recap of last week's session focused on : Not Too Radical At First: In contrast to Robert F., Mabel Williams says that her family was more concerned with not making trouble and staying out of White people's way. White Jesus: In strong contrast to Robert F., Mabel Williams has a detailed description of being baptized as a young girl and the importance of church in her life. Robert Williams does not recount a similar church experience his portion of the book. Unemployed (privileged?) Black Males: In her book and her later talks, Mabel Williams recounts how she was always able to land employment. Perhaps not the best paying or most glorified positions, but a job with a paycheck none the less. In contrast, Robert F. and many other black males were perpetually unemployed or exclusively hired on a temporary basis for low wage, low skill jobs. This Racist Labor code caused a myriad of problems for attempted marriages like that of Robert and Mabel Williams. Medical Apartheid: Mabel describes working at the local hospital and gaining a much better understanding of Racism. She tells us the black babies were stored in the basement and kept in the area with dirty needles and rubbish. In this environment, 75% of black babies died. The 26-year-old black mother and DoorDash driver was murdered, and her discarded remains have been found in various locations.     The Katherine Massey Book Club @ The C.O.W.S. hosts Session 12 on The Memoirs of Robert & Mabel Williams: African American Freedom, Armed Resistance, & International Solidarity. Having completed Robert F.'s portion of the memoir, this week we'll start Mabel Williams' autobiography. A recap of last week's session focused on : Goodbye Britain: After detaining Robert F. and threatening to force feed him, White Brits allowed him to return to the states on a mostly empty plane. Enforcement officials were eagerly awaiting Williams at the airport when he returned "home." Talks Without Black People: After being out of the so called country for nearly a decade, Robert F. began giving lectures about his time abroad and his views on White Supremacy. He lamented that he often faced audiences with few black people. He and Gus think this is the result of the FBI's vicious attacks against Williams and any black people who attempted to counter-Racism. Continued Death Threats: Even after the North Carolina criminal charges were dismissed, and Robert & Mabel attempted to settle into normal civilian existence, Racists continued to plot against them. Williams filed a FOIA request and discovered there was a Michigan plot to execute him. All of his "black brothers" at the bank insisted on looting his funds. Williams insisted on speaking to The Man in charge - who, of course, was White. Everyone Thinks Black People Are Dumb: While on the African continent, a White Man pontificated on the backward nature of China. Williams interrupted to inform the Racist Suspect that he had just spent months living well in Red China. The White Man confessed to having never stepped foot in the so called country. Williams The Hijacker: While attempting to return to the US, Williams was detained and incarcerated in Britain. They accused him of being a potential terrorist and a cousin of Osama Bin Laden.
