I’ve been listening to Mark and Rayna’s podcast for awhile now and I’m always impressed with the sound quality, and diversity of progressive rock music from all over the globe. They feature new music from emerging artists along with the veterans, including industry news and occasional interviews.
Nice music but

I give this a 2 star mainly because the cast has perhaps the worst episode notes ever. The formatting is garbled and illegible. Please producers take a little time formatting so a listener can read the playlist without having to go to the episode website.
Great, but could be excellent with a little work

I almost never take the time to write reviews so know that I have much love and respect for what you're doing here. The music selections are top notch and exactly what I'd want to put into an epic mixtape. I can’t even count the number of new artists I’ve first heard here that I wouldn’t have found otherwise. There are just a few things that grate on me, though. The first is, for a music podcast, please do some normalization, leveling, hire Steven Wilson, or whatever you need to do. Looking at the podcast in Audacity makes me want to cry. The clipping in the latest episode alone, argh!! Also, after fixing that, please put this out at a much higher bitrate. I know, the bandwidth costs, but it's worth it! 128k MP3 is really a travesty for music this good. It should be 256+ VBR minimum. The other thing is, let the podcast be more about the awesome music, not fumbling around off-mic for minutes at a time trying to remember what bands you have seen live and at which festival, and so on. It doesn't seem to add anything and just makes most of us super jealous I'm sure. ;) Would love some more focused discussion instead. Or how about some Skype interviews with the featured artist each week introducing their tracks? That would be amazing and is the kind of thing that would take this podcast to the next level. Anyway, I'm gonna keep listening no matter what, the new music is just too good to miss.
They do a good job

It's obvious that Mark & Rayna love their prog, you can feel their joy in each episode. The three hour format allows for exposure to multiple songs, uncut, from the featured new release, to really give you a chance to see if it is something you'd enjoy getting for your collection. While they do have their personal favorites, you still get a wide variety of songs, both new & old, well know & obscure. I look forward each week to see what musical journey they will take me on & do recommend to those who would like to experience what modern prog has to offer
