    Ep. 50 The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

    *tap tap* (microphone feedback) This thing still work? Well well, it's been quite a long time now hasn't it? It's been an incredibly busy year for Kamille and Joe. Turns out having a baby and moving can derail even the most concrete of plans, and also doesn't leave as much time for gaming or podcasting as we'd like. We're hoping to get back in the podcasting game soon, and have a few ideas of games we'd like to cover. But for now enjoy this timely episode of 2017's The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Breath of the Wild was developed and published by Nintendo of course, directed by Hidemaro Fujibayashi, and was composed by Manaka Kataoka, Yasuaki Iwata, and Hajime Wakai. Listen along as hosts Kamille, Joe, and Adrian gush about what makes this one of the greatest games ever made. From the artwork, sense of adventure, to the amount of experimentation the game allows, the game is truly one of the best. It's not all peaches and cream though, as Joe is very critical of the stamina system and breakable weapons in the game. Although Adrian does an admirable job of defending that decision.     Ep. 49 Cuphead - Simon's Cake Games Podcast

    Hello everybody out there in the cyberwebs, Today we're talking about one of the top games of 2017, Cuphead. This is a gorgeous, hand drawn game in the Run and Gun genre, was released on September 29, 2017, and was developed and published by Studio MDHR. The game's amazing soundtrack was composed by Kristofer Maddigan. It was released exclusively on Microsoft platforms. Hosts Kamille, Joe, and Adrian take a deep dive into their experience's playing the game. They discuss plenty of what they liked and some of what they found disappointing. The first section of the podcast is spoiler free so don't hesitate to listen if you haven't played the game yet. No boss names or descriptions are mentioned until clearly designated spoiler section later on in the podcast.     Ep. 47 Earthbound and Undertale - Simon's Cake Games

    Hello fellow monsters and aliens, er, I mean humans!   Welcome back to another episode of Simon's Cake Games. We go back in time to our old format and talk about TWO games this episode! On this podcast Joe, Kamille, and Adrian talk and compare both Earthbound (1995) and Undertale (2015).  This was Joe and Kamille's first time playing through Earthbound and Adrian's first time with Undertale, so needless to day there is a lot to cover! It's a long one, but with determination and a melody to push you forward, you can get through it! The podcast starts in our typical non-spoiler fashion then goes to spoiler, with a warning of course. The music of Earthbound was composed by Keiichi Suzuki and Hirokazu Tanaka, and is featured in our podcast.

    Ep. 46 Horizon Zero Dawn - Simon's Cake Games Podcast

    Good day everybody! Hope everyone is having a fantastic summer so far. The ovens at the Simon's Cake Bakery have been running for awhile now, cooking up all sorts of good stuff for later. But today we have Horizon Zero Dawn for your listening pleasure. Hosts Kamille and Joe discuss a wide range of topics and theories about what is going on in this game. The game was released exclusively on the PS4,� was developed by Guerilla Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. We start off the episode with some spoiler free discussion about our general likes and dislikes, get into a quick synopsis, and our general thoughts on the game as a whole. So don't be scared to listen if you haven't played the game yet. After that, however, is our Story Mode section where everything is on the table in terms of discussion but there is ample warning beforehand. We finish up with some quickfire questions before moving onto our final thoughts and recommendations. Spoiler Alert: We recommend this game to everyone and everyone.     Ep. 43 Final Fantasy XV - Simon's Cake Games

    Greetings everyone! Today we've cooked up a doozy of an episode about an undercooked doozy of a game, Final Fantasy XV. Hosts Joe, Kamille, and special guest Justin, discuss the game's many pros and cons in great length. We discuss the game's troubled development cycle, if the game was worth the wait, the controversial patches coming to this game that adds essential story scenes, and even get into a little open-world fatigue talk. Joe and Justin are veterans of the series but Kamille has a fresh perspective on the series as this is her first Final Fantasy playthrough. The game was released on November 29th, 2016 on the Xbox One and PS4 consoles. It was directed by Hajime Tabata, and the music was composed by Yoko Shimomura. � We open with a pretty long spoiler-free section so if you haven't played the game feel free to listen without worry. After that we dive head first into our Story Mode (patent pending), which is just a mine field of spoilers everywhere you step, so be warned.     P.T. (Playable Teaser) - Simon's Cake Podcast

    Hello everyone! Today's hosts are the standard trio of George, Joe, and Kamille, joined by special guest Richard (@Himself551). The topic of discussion is the enigma that is P.T. (2014) This game was developed by Kojima Productions and published by Konami. *Correction: Joe states the fake pseudonym the game was developed under was Moby Dick Studios, not 7780's studios. He was getting this mixed up with The Phantom Pain reveal.* This is a game Joe has wanted to experience for a long time but sadly, because we are not the proud owners of the PS4 yet, it took us 2+ years to get a hold of this game. We loved every minute of the pulse pounding terror. We talk about the unusual nature of the reveal of this game, the controversy surrounding it once the game was pulled from the PSN, and why Joe has lost respect for Kojima. There is no NON spoiler section to speak of. We openly discuss the game and everything about it throughout the episode.     Halloween, er, fall is right around the corner so to get into the spirit of the season we're kicking it off with Oxenfree (2016)! Join Kamille, Joe, George, unofficial 4th member Adrian, and new guest Anthony, as they explore this "supernatural, coming of age" story based game. Night School Studio developed and published Oxenfree, Heather Gross was the artist, Adam Hines was the writer, and scntfc (Andrew Rohrmann) composed the music, which is featured in our podcast. We discuss this game in two parts, non-spoilers and spoilers. There will be a warning before we get into our spoiler section or as we call it, Story Mode.     Ep. 36 Chrono Trigger - Simon's Cake Podcast

    Greetings! Welcome to the next episode of our humble podcast. This time we're happy to finally bring you our thoughts on the beloved classic, Chrono Trigger (1995). The game was released on March 11, 1995 for the SNES console and developed/published by Squaresoft. The game was written by Masato Kato. The music, which was composed by the dynamic duo of Yasunori Mitsuda and Nobuo Uematsu, is featured in our podcast.. The artwork was also done by Akira Toriyama. Join Joe, George, and Kamille as they discuss their favorite moments, songs, characters, least favorite moments, as well as other opinions on other various topics. Overall we enjoyed the game very much but Kamille talks about her hate for Marle, and why the silent protagonist needs to stop being a thing. The show starts with the usual spoiler free section but we do dive deep into spoiler territory. We warn you before that happens so feel free to listen to the first half even if you haven't played the game and might be interested in it. We also did our first video chat with Eddy and Adrian on Youtube! Our audio is not the best but we hope to have that fixed for next time.

In ep. 33 we have our recurring guest, Adrian, join us as we talk about Tunacycle (a mobile game Adrian helped create). Tunacycle (2016) is an infinite runner mobile game on the Google Play and iTunes store. We talk about Tunacycle in two main courses: game details and aspects we noticed, and the making of, where we ask Adrian a few questions about story concept, problems making Tunacycle, and the experiences that come with making a game.     Greetings everyone! Today we have an oddity of a game known as The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes. (2015) This game was developed and published by Nintendo and the music was composed by Ryo Nagamatsu. Hosts Kamille, Joe, and special guest Justin, discuss their take on this offbeat title, how they played it, likes and dislikes, and whether or not it's actually worth your time. There are definitely some weird Nintendo like quirks to this game and the hosts go over it all, for better or worse. There's a small spoilerish section where we talk about the paper thin story and its details so if you care about that, we do warn before we talk spoilers.

    Ep. 16 Shovel Knight & Mega Man X - Simon's Cake Podcast

    Greetings valiant listeners, "Steel thy shovel!" We've got an awesome new episode from Simon's Cake Video Game Podcast. Episode 16 is an amazing combination of modern and retro gaming with Shovel Knight (2014) by Yacht Club Games and Mega Man X (1994 NA release) by Capcom. Hosts Kamille, Joe, and George along with SPECIAL GUEST Adrian Nieto discuss their past and present endeavors with Shovel Knight and Mega Man X. This podcast is a grand discussion of both games in unison. There are no individual sections in the podcast. Also, there is no designated SPOILER section since neither game is very spoiler heavy. HOWEVER, THE ENDINGS OF BOTH GAMES ARE DISCUSSED AT THE END OF THIS PODCAST. We do warn ahead of time before we dive into the endings, so feel free to listen in. The composers for Shovel Knight are Jake Kaufman and Manami Matsumae and for Megaman X are Setsuo Yamamoto, Makoto Tomozawa, Yuki Iwai, Yuko Takehara, Toshihiko Horiyama.
