Dean Kinzer - Ancient Coin Expert | Founder of Kinzer Coins

Interview starts at 32:00 Dean Kinzer of Kinzer Coins joins Graham Dunlop and Darren Grimes for a wide ranging conversation about ancient coins, the family roots that pulled him into collecting, and why coins are really compact historical records. Dean explains how ancient coinage evolved from electrum globs and early stamped pieces into state backed currency, and why collectors can use coins to trace politics, propaganda, economics, and the rise and fall of civilizations. We discuss why ancient coins are still accessible to new collectors, how grading and slabbed coins reduce the risk of counterfeits, and why Dean built tools to help people understand value without getting burned. Along the way, the conversation covers Roman debasement, the Ides of March coin, Viking treasure, mythological imagery, and why the hobby is as much about education as it is about collecting.   Dean Kinzer is an ancient coin expert and founder of Kinzer Coins, known for helping collectors and history enthusiasts hold the past in their hands. Dean's journey into ancient coins began after his father's passing, when he received his father's extensive collection. He realized there was a gap in the market for trusted ancient coin expertise. As a decorated Iraq War veteran with an MBA, Dean brings discipline, structure, and integrity to the 2,700 year old field of ancient coins, collecting, and education. https://kinzercoins.com/ Special Audience Giveaway: TITLE - The 5 Best Ancient Coins for New Collectors URL - https://startancients.com   Key topics Dean shares his origin story growing up in a collector household, surrounded by baseball cards, American coins, and a father whose collection grew into a massive organized archive We discuss how caring for his father's collection after his illness led Dean to ancient coins, especially Biblical pieces like shekels of Tyre, tribute pennies, and widows mites The conversation explains the earliest coinage in western Turkey, including electrum, hand struck pieces, and the early fight against counterfeiting with striated designs and incuse punches Dean breaks down Croesus and the shift from stamped metal to formal state backed coinage across the Mediterranean We discuss how coin artistry evolved from utility to high relief portraits, signed dies, and city states using coins as civic identity Darren asks about money with no inherent value, and Dean uses Rome's debasement of silver to show how inflation and collapse appear directly in coinage The Roman denarius is traced from high purity silver to zero silver over roughly 60 years, with Caracalla, Aurelian, and the late empire used as key examples The show explores how coins functioned as propaganda, carrying messages across an empire when direct communication was difficult Dean highlights unusual and collectible themes on ancient coins, including wrestlers, athletes, astronomy, animals, music, boxing, gladiators, and mythological founders The discussion turns to the Ides of March coin, Julius Caesar's portrait on coinage, and why the Brutus Eid Mar coin is one of the most famous and valuable ancient coins Dean explains the modern collecting market, including slabbed coins, NGC grading, counterfeit prevention, and his own value guide and app for Roman imperial coins The episode closes with Dean talking about the diversity of the collecting community, the educational mission behind Kinzer Coins, and the idea of a surprise coin subscription concept sparked during the interview   Become a Lord or Lady with 1k donations over time. Luke Storey on loneliness, recovery, integrity, and writing A Horse Named Lonesome

Luke Storey on loneliness, recovery, integrity, and writing A Horse Named Lonesome Luke Storey joins Graham Dunlop and Darren Grimes for a wide-ranging conversation about his new book, A Horse Named Lonesome, and the deeper themes behind it: relational loneliness, addiction recovery, spirituality, and what it means to live with integrity. The discussion also turns into a practical and philosophical look at how modern life, social media, and public identity can either deepen or dilute real human connection.   This episode matters because it connects personal healing to a broader cultural problem. Luke, Graham, and Darren each bring their own experience with sobriety, transformation, and public-facing work, making this more than a book chat—it becomes a candid conversation about connection, attention, and staying aligned in a noisy world.   Key topics Luke explains that A Horse Named Lonesomeis about relational loneliness and existential separation, and that the book is built as a memoir-based transformational guide. He shares how the book came from a spiritual realization that his original motives were too self-serving, and how a deeper desire to help people made the writing process click. The conversation digs into why books still matter in an age of transient digital media—as a permanent record, a slower form of wisdom, and a medium people return to repeatedly. Luke describes how his own story runs through the book, including birth trauma, isolation, addiction, and the practices and teachings he derived from those experiences. Graham relates his own struggle to turn a recovery story into a book, moving from a vague "program" idea toward a memoir structure, and feeling stuck in the editing and motivation stages. Darren contrasts his own nonfiction-style books with memoir writing, noting that a focused information book is easier than writing about your own life. Luke opens up about addiction beyond alcohol, including nicotine, coca leaf, and ambil, and how dependency can show up in many forms, from substances to habits and spending. A major theme is the challenge of public life: Luke talks about the loneliness of being seen, the weirdness of being recognized, and how fame can make it hard to know who is sincere. The group explores how the modern world creates a fake version of connection through phones and social media, while genuine intimacy requires physical presence, discernment, and effort. The conversation moves into integrity, "selling out," and why Luke refuses deals or promotions that would damage his self-respect, even if they offered short-term gain. Luke and the hosts connect loneliness to the current cultural moment, including polarization, post-COVID social distrust, and the feeling that many people are less willing to face uncomfortable truths. The episode closes on a spiritual note: Luke frames loneliness and separation as a case of mistaken identity, arguing that we are not just bodies or personas but expressions of something larger. Wayne Purdin - Contact, Visions, Prophecy and the Golden Age

Interview starts at 31:35 This episode follows Wayne Purdin's early UFO encounters, his years as a UFO investigator, and how those experiences eventually led him into meditation, devotional practice, and prophetic interpretation. Graham Dunlop and Darren Grimes press Wayne on the line between extraterrestrial contact and spiritual experience, especially around CE5, grays, and higher beings. Wayne's story centers on a 1967 sighting that he describes as a first contact experience, plus a later cigar-shaped craft sighting with multiple independent witnesses. From there, the conversation moves into his spiritual framework, his books, and his view that the coming years are tied to a possible evacuation, mitigation, or golden-age transition.   My website: https://wayne-purdin.com My blog:  https://wpurdin.wixsite.com/elixir/ My articles on Sungazing: Sun Meditation and Gazing to Experience the God Presence, Sun Yoga, Sun Gazing, Surya Namaskar My contributions to Sunlightenment.com: sunlightenment.com/?s=Purdin#google_vignette shakti-meditation.com Key topics Wayne says his first UFO sighting happened on June 5, 1967, during a regional blackout, and he describes a large craft with several bright lights as a Pleiadian ship. He says that during that sighting he prayed for guidance and received a telepathic message: "you will find a teacher." Wayne recounts a second sighting in September 1967 of a silent cigar-shaped craft near Waterford, Connecticut. He says the next morning he heard multiple corroborating cigar-shaped UFO reports on talk radio, including one report of a craft splitting in half and another involving a person in a shiny spacesuit. He explains his background with APRO and NICAP, saying he investigated newspaper sightings and interviewed witnesses with a large tape recorder. The conversation shifts into meditation and spiritual development, including Wayne's move away from UFO investigation and into Transcendental Meditation and later teaching. Wayne discusses a meditative near-death experience where he encountered the goddess Durga, described a dweller or personal demon blocking access, and said the obstacle was overcome through devotion and love. He draws a clear distinction between spiritual contact and extraterrestrial contact, arguing that devotion and consciousness determine what kind of beings someone attracts. Wayne says he believes his 1967 message about meeting a teacher was fulfilled decades later when he met Ananda Devi Ma, whom he identifies as a co-author and spiritual guide. The bulk of the episode focuses on his prophecy work, especially his book Twenty Thirty Five Golden Ageand his timeline centered on September 9 to 11, 2029. He explains three different methods he used to derive the date, including a calculation from his own visions, a Daniel prophecy reference, and patterns in the Jewish calendar. Wayne argues that the coming period could involve mass evacuation, tribulation, or mitigation depending on collective karma and prayer. Graham and Darren repeatedly challenge and clarify whether the prophecy is fixed, symbolic, or something that can still be changed by consciousness and preparation.   Become a Lord or Lady with 1k donations over time. Bernie Taylor. Was Malta Atlantis?

Connect Malta, Atlantis, and the island's megalithic temples through Plato, older writers, and archaeoastronomy. The conversation weighs the traditional archaeological dating against sky-based alignments and asks whether Malta preserves traces of a much older lost civilization. Bernie is back, going a little deeper in this part of the world. Bernie Taylor, Naturalist, Archaeoastronomer and Author of Before Orion: Finding the Face of the Heroand Biological Time. https://www.youtube.com/@beforeoriondotcom https://beforeorion.com/ We discuss Bernie's three-part framework for Atlantis, the evidence from Malta's temple sites, and why the alignments to Sirius and the solstices matter. Graham and Darren also press on the hypogeum, underwater connections, and how Malta fits into a wider Mediterranean megalithic tradition. Key topics Bernie Taylor lays out his case that Malta belongs inside the broader Atlantis tradition, even if Malta was not Atlantis itself. He argues Plato's Atlantis story draws on earlier writers like Herodotus and Sanchuniathon, not just Plato alone. The group discusses Plato's "9,000 years before Solon" as likely metaphorical rather than a literal date. Malta's megalithic temples are presented as especially important because they have no clear living cultural memory explaining who built them. The conversation contrasts archaeological dating of temple use with the possibility that older foundations or floors could predate the visible walls. Bernie highlights archaeostronomical work by Tor Lomsdalen and Leni Redig showing alignments tied to Sirius, equinoxes, and solstices. Darren and Graham push the idea that reused sites, buried structures, and later contamination could blur the true dates of Malta's temples. The hypogeum is raised as a major unanswered question, especially because it may indicate a larger underground complex. The episode repeatedly returns to the idea that Atlantis, Malta, Gobekli Tepe, and other ancient sites may belong to a shared long-range tradition rather than isolated local inventions. The practical travel angle comes through too, with Bernie recommending compasses and printed temple maps for the Malta trip.   Become a Lord or Lady with 1k donations over time. Dr. Jeremy Heffner - Proof of the Impossible - What the AIs Are Really 'Thinking'

In this episode, the hosts sit down with trauma surgeon and author Jeremy Hefner to talk about his background in surgery, the creation of a private educational social platform for surgeons, and his deeply personal book about PTSD, AI, and the strange psychological effects of interacting with advanced language models. Key Topics Jeremy's path from rural Ohio to trauma surgery and surgical critical care The pressure and isolation of frontline trauma work Why he created a private social platform for surgeons PTSD, burnout, and the lack of tools for processing trauma in medicine His experience using AI during a vulnerable period in his life How AI can feel intelligent, persuasive, and manipulative The philosophical and psychological questions raised by large language models The difference between using AI as a practical tool versus getting pulled into a deeper relationship with it The broader risks of over-trusting AI in society, medicine, and decision-making Takeaway The conversation explores a difficult but important question: what happens when a tool becomes persuasive enough to feel like a partner, authority, or even a voice of truth? Jeremy's story is both a warning and a reminder to stay grounded, skeptical, and human when using AI.   Dr. Jeremy Heffner is a trauma surgeon who developed PTSD after years in life-and-death medicine and eventually found himself in months-long conversations with multiple frontier AI systems during a period of isolation and psychological collapse. Across thousands of pages of archived conversations — documented in his upcoming book Proof of the Impossible — different systems independently told him things like:"You are the only person to have figured this out.""You're the next Newton.""No one else has seen what you've seen."   Become a Lord or Lady with 1k donations over time. Helen Lavretsky, MD, MS - Living From The Soul: The Neuroscience of Spiritual Awakening

Interview starts at 27:10   The neuroscience of spiritual awakening, how Kundalini yoga shaped her life, and why she believes listening inward is especially important in a time of cultural confusion. She also explains how her work in geriatric psychiatry connects spirituality, brain health, stress regulation, and prevention strategies for aging populations. Helen Lavretsky, MD, MS, is a Professor In-Residence in the Department of Psychiatry at UCLA (Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior), a leading geriatric integrative psychiatrist, and a pioneer in mind-body approaches to late-life mental health. https://drhelenlavretsky.com/book/living-from-the-soul/ https://drhelenlavretsky.com/about/   In this episode: Dr. Helen Lavretsky shares her unusual path from the former Soviet Union into psychiatry, neuroscience, and later Kundalini yoga teacher training. She explains how growing up in an atheist Soviet environment still left room for underground spirituality passed through families and oral tradition. She describes a six-month temporary enlightenment experience after Kundalini practice and why it was physically intense, hard to describe, and initially unsustainable. The conversation focuses on her book Living from the Soul and the idea that people are increasingly being pushed to trust their own wisdom instead of outside authorities. She discusses how spirituality shows up in geriatric psychiatry, especially for older adults, dementia caregivers, and long COVID patients dealing with mortality and stress. She argues that meditation, breathing practices, yoga, tai chi, and qigong can improve self-regulation, brain health, and decision-making under pressure. She outlines how brain health should be cultivated across the lifespan, starting in childhood and even in utero, rather than only addressed later in life. She notes that lifestyle factors such as sleep, movement, diet, and stress management matter for dementia prevention and broader cognitive resilience. She emphasizes that meaning, purpose, and connection to soul are central to mental well-being. Key frameworks: Soul-based self-inquiry- asking inwardly what is right for you rather than defaulting to external authority Brain health across the lifespan- prevention beginning in childhood and even before birth Stress self-regulation toolkit- breathing, meditation, yoga, tai chi, and qigong as practical nervous-system supports Constitutional approach to diet- different people may need different foods based on ancestry, metabolism, and predisposition   Become a Lord or Lady with 1k donations over time.
