Step 1 : What Is A Grief Zone? Why Do You Need One ? How Can You Start?

Linda M Hughes psychic medium and grief coach here. Today we are going to talk about what is your grief zone, why do you need one and how can you start.  The Grief Zone starts out as a healthy escape from thecrushing weight of your immediate grief.  It is a “space of grace” where you can bank the spiritual and emotional energy that you will need to live a life without that loved one.  Over time, the original purpose may expand out, becoming that sacred space you retreat to when contemplating otherimportant life changes.   Immediately, it is a place you create that allows you toseparate the “real life” demands from the sacred time that you need to properly grieve the loss of your loved one.  Today, I am not going to start this discussion with those “real life” demands.  You already know them, you are there, you are right in the thick of it, right now.   Just know that you can do this.  In your darkest night, in your saddest day, and in your loneliest hour, just know that you have what it takes to getthrough this part of your journey.  So, for the next few minutes, take a break while I introduce you to the Grief Zone, so that you have something to daydream about when you are feeling crushed by the reality of your life right now.  Someday, in your real life, it will become less about survival and more about learning to live with this loss.   Then and now, I want you to create this day dream and when ready, I will show you how to turn it into reality.  I will be here to help you walk through every step of the process, so don’t worry, it is not just another “make work” for you to do alone. When I was struggling to escape the new reality of life, needing to review our memories together and just let my love for them pour out in hot tears and then quiet acceptance and finally, extreme gratitude for getting to be a part of their lives, and loves, I compartmentalized my life. For every “reality of life” I had to face, I tracked the time.  And then I gave equal time to grieving my loved ones the way that I chose. I started thinking of this as my “grief zone” time.  And thus, the idea was born and titled.  Continuing to use this whole idea, that while I was cherishing the memories of my loved ones, I might as well include the things I like to do, but had no more time for. Such as actively daydreaming my future, physical activity, or artistic endeavors like creative writing.  Now, you could include any type of activity, as long as itallows you to continue gathering spiritual and emotional strength.  After a while, I started noticing that my Grief Zone stability and peace of mind was seeping into the “real life” demands time.  Of course, these real life demandswere becoming less cruel and intrusive, at the same point.  So I don’t really know which one came first or which one did the most good.  But either way, I noticed that I was beginning to feel much more comfortable in taking much more control in the direction of my life. My Grief Zone daydreams were starting to take realshape.  So what did this look like, what shape did they take and can you do the same thing? My daydreams involved how I was going to live without myloved ones.  I dreamed about honoring their lives by making mine count in some way. I wanted to show them that their contributions to my life had mattered.  I wanted to take the ball from their hands and run it into the game zone of our lives.  I am and have always been an entrepreneur and coach.  So, I knew that my dream was going to be realized by helping people.  And when adding up all the components, they equaled what I am doing today, while you are listening in.  Yes, you can do the same thing.  It just takes your imagination and the willingness to give it the time required.  The wonderful thing is that you get to decide what time that willbe.  When you are ready to create your own Grief Zone, do thesevery important things: Ran out of characters, please listen!

Step 1 Self Care Tips After Recent Loss Of A Loved One

This is Linda M Hughes, psychic medium and grief coach.  Self care is the most important priority always, especiallyafter losing a loved one. Deep, healing sleep matters most of all!  After losingeach of my loved ones, I retreated into myself sleeping as much as I could.  The pain and overwhelm was so big, so unimaginable that my body completely shut down.  I believe this was MY body's healthy response, because while in sleep, the reality was gently rolling into my consciousness. Grief is also physical. Whether you want to or not, makesure to eat balanced meals. Eat enough calories and nutrients to help your body get through this time.  Drink water to stay hydrated. Absolutely avoid alcohol or recreational drugs right now,you don't need the extra drama. If you decide to follow this advice and have been a heavydrinker up to now, please ask those medical professionals for help in stopping.Depending on your consumption habits, quitting cold turkey could be dangerous. Did you have a regular exercise routine before your loss? If you did, modify it to fit and keep doing it.  If you did not, consider taking up short walks in nature. “Real life” won’t let you get away with “grieving” for long, or at all.If you have family or friends nearby, let them helpyou.  Let them send you food, help you take care of your affairs, help you keep track of and handle the immediate legal and financial details of death. If you do not have any others that you can trust to do these things for you, hire out what you can. Or, if this is not possible, pace yourself.  Consciously choose your most productive times of day to work on these issues.  In this productive time only, prioritize by importance and get things done quickly.  And then stop.  Now is not the time to become bogged down with unnecessary busy work. Really! If it wasn't importantbefore this loss, it can wait until later, when life is less chaotic! I will add a new post to this playlist every 4th week on Wednesday mornings.
