15| Here is Why a Nap did not Fix my Burnout, but this Rest Framework made be feel Restored.

If you're a caregiver mom running on empty, you already know this truth: another nap won't fix what you're feeling. In this episode of Clothed in God's Strength, we unpack the difference between rest and restoration — and why one comes from sleep, while the other only comes from abiding in God's presence.   Drawing from over two decades of caregiving — including the moment her son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes on top of sickle cell disease, and the legacy of faith her grandmother left behind after 96 years living with sickle cell disease herself — I share why surrender, not sleep, is the real turning point for exhausted caregiving moms.   In this episode, you'll learn:   •Why physical rest can't heal soul-deep exhaustion •What Exodus 33:14, Matthew 11:28, and Isaiah 40:31 reveal about God's design for rest •How to stop carrying outcomes that were never yours to carry •5 practical steps to choose God's presence over burnout, starting today •Why "caregiver" is what you do — not who you are   Keywords: caregiver burnout, faith-based rest, Christian caregiver mom, soul care for moms, God's presence and rest, chronic illness caregiver exhaustion, Isaiah 40:31, biblical rest vs sleep   Scriptures referenced: Exodus 33:14, Matthew 11:28–30, Isaiah 40:31, Proverbs 31:25   Grab your Free 3-day Soul Reset  https://blissfuleewell.myflodesk.com/caregiverguide   Subscribe to the Sustained Caregiver Insider newsletter below https://blissfuleewell.myflodesk.com/caregivernewsletter

14 | Why Caregivers Struggle with Stress and Rhythms to exchange for more Peace.

Today we are diving deeper into Isaiah 61, talking about the struggles I hear from caregiver moms more than anything else;  Overwhelm and constantly exhaustion: •Guilt and self-neglect: crown of beauty for ashes. •Isolation and feeling unsupported.   We will look at these struggles and what God's promises says about them concerning our lives. Here is how we can choose to exchange God promises to overcome our everyday struggles.   A crown of beauty for ashes when we feel guilty and need to release heavy burdens off our shoulders.  The oil of joy for mourning and hard seasons. A garment of praise is exchanged for the spirit of heaviness.    Each section has 3–4 actionable steps. The week's challenge is the 3-3-3 Restoration Rhythm: The garment of praise in the morning - name one thing you're grateful for and say your prayers and take deep breaths.   Joy at midday - pause wherever you are, breathe, have a quiet moment and give thanks for where you are. The crown in the evening, name one specific thing you did right and release what you could not do. Hand it back to God and ask for help.    •"Verse 3 says "instead of ashes," not "instead of mourning griefs." The oil of joy is what replaces mourning.  •Isaiah 40 v 31 says they that wait on the lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.    Action steps this week; make one specific ask for help and embrace the support from family and friends ready to assist you on this journey. Rhythms are built by returning to them, not by perfection.    Ready to feel emotionally grounded, calm and restored? Grab your free 3-day Soulcare Reset  https://blissfuleewell.myflodesk.com/caregiverguide   Become a Sustained Caregiver for weekly encouragement and tips. https://blissfuleewell.myflodesk.com/caregivernewsletter

13| My Wake up call with Exhaustion and setting boundaries

If you are the caregiver mom who can't sit down because you are afraid something will fall apart the second you do, then this episode is for you. We are talking about setting boundaries for what we have to carry, and what was only ever leave for God to carry. Caregiver control is a problem that causes Burnout and we need to surrender what is not ours to carry.  As caregivers we need to set boundaries and learn to say no more than yes when we don't have the capacity. Rest is crucial for us to show up for loved ones we care for. We should not depend on our strength to do it all. Learn the art of surrender, its big problem for caregivers. We need to set boundaries and use the REST framework as a formula to beat burnout. I ignored my own symptoms of pain when breathing because I was caring for my son in hospital. This got worst and I ended up in ER and hospital for weeks. I had a kidney infection that was painful, severe and took weeks to be treated and recover. Moms, please listen to your bodies and do not ignore those early signs of discomfort. You matter too! R - Receive help and support from others this is not sign of weakness. E - Exhale and pause let go of what is depleting you S - Surrender the thing you are holding onto, hand it over to God as daily rhythm. T - Turn to God's truth replace fear and anxiety with prayer and scriptures that sustain you.  Identify one task this week you will delegate  Choose one daily REST and practice this rhythm Write down what is draining you and release that to God Ask for help and be specific with what you truly need.   Protect your mornings and have peaceful rhythms. Hope this wakes you up to set boundaries for yourself as caregiver and surrender what you can't carry. Proverbs 31 v 25 encourages us to be clothed in God's strength. Ask for help you can't do this alone. You have permission to put something down and trust God.   Please share this episode with another Caregiver Mom and grab your free Caregiver reset guide. https://blissfuleewell.myflodesk.com/caregiverguide   I would love to see you become a Sustained Caregiver insider for weekly encouragement and caregiver tips. https://blissfuleewell.myflodesk.com/caregivernewsletter   Remember you are Clothed in God's Strength!

11| Signs of Caregiver Burnout and Coping Skills to Reduce Chronic Stress.

Caregiver burnout is real — and it’s not a faith failure, a weakness, or a character flaw. It’s a natural response to chronic stress without recovery, and if you’re a mom caring for a chronically ill or medically complex child, you already know exactly what that feels like in your body.   In this episode, I break down how to recognize caregiver burnout why “just have more faith” misses the point and share 5 practical, faith-based coping skills you can start using today — each one designed to fit inside the cracks of a real caregiving day, not an imaginary one with free time.   If you’ve ever felt numb, irritable, resentful, or quietly wondered “can I keep doing this?” — this episode is your permission slip to name it to start healing. In this episode, you’ll learn: The real signs of caregiver burnout (and why it’s not just “a hard week”) 5 faith-based coping skills that take 90 seconds or less Why coping skills alone aren’t enough — and what to build instead How to find community that meets you at your real number, not your performed one   1.Caregiver burnout is a physical and emotional response to chronic stress — not a spiritual shortcoming.   2.Even Jesus withdrew to rest so we caregivers have no excuse but to also rest. It's not a reward its obedience.   3.The 90-Second Reset, Name Three Release One, The Non-Negotiable Five and the Weekly Exhale Check-In are five tools you can use inside a real caregiving day.   4.Coping skills manage a crisis moment. A rhythm — like the Rhythm Wheel and R.E.S.T. framework — prevents you from needing the emergency tools as often.   5.Isolation makes burnout worse. Naming your real number to one trusted person each week is protective, not weak.   “Caregiver burnout isn’t cured by a spa day or bubble baths.” “You cannot heal what you refuse to name.” CALL TO ACTION Pick one coping skill from today’s episode and try it before tomorrow ends Grab your FREE Caregiver Reset guide here.  https://blissfuleewell.myflodesk.com/caregiverguide Become a Sustained Caregiver inside for weekly encouragement and caregiver tips to overcome exhaustion. https://blissfuleewell.myflodesk.com/caregivernewsletter

10 Struggling with Caregiver guilt? How to set healthy boundaries to prevent burnout.

Healthy Boundaries for Caregivers: How to Stop Caregiver Burnout and Exhaustion In this powerful episode of Clothed in God’s Strength, Eugenia speaks directly to overwhelmed caregivers who are exhausted from constantly saying yes, carrying too much, and struggling with guilt around setting limits. If you’re a caregiver feeling emotionally drained, resentful, or stretched beyond capacity, this episode will help you understand why healthy boundaries are essential for preventing caregiver burnout—not selfish. Eugenia shares real-life caregiving experience from over two decades of raising children with chronic illness and breaks down how lack of boundaries leads to emotional overload, survival-mode living, resentment, and physical exhaustion. You’ll learn: Why caregivers struggle to set boundaries and feel guilty saying no The hidden cost of always saying yes 4 types of caregiver boundaries (time, emotional, responsibility, access) How to say no without overexplaining or guilt How to ask for help and delegate caregiving tasks A simple “pause before yes” practice to reduce overwhelm This episode also reframes boundaries through faith, reminding Christian caregivers that Jesus rested, withdrew, and did not carry every demand placed on Him—and neither are you meant to. 💡 Key reminder: You don’t overcome caregiver burnout by pushing harder—you overcome it by learning what to put down. 09 Break the cycle of Exhaustion! Caregiver tools that work for emotional regulation.

Emotional Regulation for Caregivers If you’ve ever stood in your kitchen at 2am, hands shaking over a medication syringe you’ve filled a thousand times, wondering why you feel like you’re falling apart even though you “should” be used to this by now — this episode is for you.   We’re getting honest about what caregiver exhaustion actually is (hint: it’s not just tiredness), why willpower and “just relax” don’t work, and a simple, biblical way to regulate your emotions in real time — even in a waiting room, a school pickup line, or a hospital hallway.   What you’ll learn: Why exhaustion isn’t your real problem. Your nervous system has been in a state of hypervigilance for so long, it doesn’t know how to power down — even when you finally get a quiet moment. The guilt trap. Why rest doesn’t feel restful when guilt sits down next to you — and how Proverbs 31:25 reframes rest as obedience, not indulgence. Why logic can’t calm a dysregulated body. Emotional regulation has to start in the body before it reaches the mind — this is why breath and truth have to work together, not one or the other. The R.E.S.T. framework, a 90-second reset you can do anywhere: Receive — grounding into the truth that you are safe in this moment Exhale — a simple breath pattern that tells your nervous system to stand down Surrender — naming what isn’t yours to carry, and releasing it on purpose Turn to Truth — replacing shame with identity (“I am clothed in strength”) Everyday moments to practice it: the car before you walk inside, the ER waiting room, the 3am flare-up, the moment guilt creeps in after finally sitting down.  Actionable Steps From This Episode: Run the 90-second R.E.S.T. reset once today, before you get out of the car or check your phone. Write Isaiah 40:31 somewhere you feel most depleted  Speak this out loud once today: “Resting is not quitting on my child. It’s how I stay able to show up for them.” Text one other caregiving mom today: “I see you.” Regulation happens in community too — you were never meant to carry this alone. Scripture Referenced: Isaiah 40:31 — “Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength… they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Proverbs 31:25 — “She is clothed in strength and dignity.”   Connect & Go Deeper: Become a Sustained Caregiver Insider my weekly newsletter  This is faith-filled newsletter specifically for caregiving moms who need a place to breathe and feel supported. 👉 Become a Sustained Caregiver Insider   👉 Subscribe for weekly Soul Care tools for exhausted caregiving moms 👉 Leave a review — it helps another burned-out mom find this episode to feel supported.    Grab your free 3-day Soul care Caregiver Reset guide here

08 Feeling Burnt out? What to do when your caregiving Strength runs out. 3 Rhythms of Renewal during crisis.

What do you do when you’ve spent all your strength caring for everyone else—and your soul has nothing left to give? Friend, I want to take you into one of the hardest nights of my caregiving journey. I was sitting beside my son in a hospital room during another serious medical crisis. The machines were beeping. The lights never completely went off. Nurses came in and out. Tests seemed endless. His blood levels were dropping, and we were dealing with severe pain, complications, infections, and hemolysis—the breakdown of red blood cells. I had barely slept in days. And somewhere in the middle of all that medical chaos, I looked at myself and thought: “I don't recognize this woman anymore.” I was exhausted. Depleted. Emotionally overwhelmed. And honestly, I was asking God questions I didn't have answers to. “God, are You even here?” Maybe you've been there too. You know every medication schedule. You recognize every change in your child's symptoms. You know the doctors, nurses, appointments, lab results, and emergency plans. You can advocate for everyone else. But when was the last time you sat quietly with God without rushing? That night, something became painfully clear to me: I was pouring from a soul that hadn't been filled in a very long time. And God wasn't asking me to become a better caregiver. He was inviting me to become His daughter again. That realization changed the way I understood rest. Rest wasn't something I had to earn after everything was finished. Rest became something I could receive from God—even in the middle of caregiving. Not necessarily hours. Sometimes just moments. Five quiet minutes with my Bible. A warm cup of tea before everyone woke up. A few minutes of worship music. One deep breath and a whispered prayer: “Jesus, help me.” Those tiny moments became holy rhythms. And little by little, God began strengthening what caregiving had drained. When Another Diagnosis Changes Everything And then came another moment I never expected. My son was 17 when I noticed something wasn't right. We were shopping one Saturday morning when I noticed he was going to the bathroom much more frequently than usual. He also seemed fatigued and weak. As caregivers, we learn to recognize those little changes. The patterns. The behaviors. The subtle signs that something isn't right. I asked him if he was okay. When we got home and he still wasn't feeling well, I knew I needed to get him checked. As a full-time working mom, taking time away from work to care for a child isn't always easy. But my children have always come first. So I took him to the doctor. They ran tests. Then came the words I never expected to hear: His blood sugar was over 600. We were told we needed to get to the hospital. And eventually, my 17-year-old son received a diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes—on top of already living with sickle cell disease. I was shocked. I was in denial. I was trying desperately to hold myself together because I didn't want my children to see me panic. I wanted to be strong for them. But inside? I was asking: “God, why?” “Why another battle?” “Lord, where are You?” I didn't have answers. But I did have a choice. I could allow fear to consume me—or I could begin renewing my mind and intentionally replacing hopeless thoughts with the truth of God's Word. That didn't mean the situation suddenly became easy. It meant I stopped pretending I had to carry it alone. I began reminding myself of every crisis God had already brought us through. Every prayer. Every difficult hospital stay. Every moment when I didn't know what would happen next. Every time God had made a way. And I prayed: “God, I don't understand this. But I choose to surrender it to You. You have carried us before, and I need You to show up for me again.” That was a waiting season. And Isaiah 40:31 became deeply personal: “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength.” Waiting didn't mean doing nothing. Waiting meant learning to find God inside the uncertainty. My circumstances didn't immediately change. But something began changing inside me. God met me in the valley. He gave me peace in the middle of medical chaos. And day by day, He renewed my strength. 3 Biblical Rhythms for Caregivers Facing Crisis When you're caring for a child with chronic illness, navigating a new diagnosis, sitting in a hospital room, or simply trying to survive another exhausting day, you may not have time for an elaborate self-care routine. That's why I want to give you something simpler. Three biblical soul-care rhythms you can practice even when life feels completely unpredictable. Rhythm #1: Pause Before You Pour Before you check your phone… Before you start breakfast… Before you answer another text… Before you begin managing everyone else's needs… Run to the Source. Your strength was never meant to come entirely from you. Even if you only have ten minutes, create space to meet with God. Open your Bible. Pray. Sit quietly. Breathe. And surrender your day before you start carrying it. Try this simple prayer: “Lord, I cannot do this without You today. Give me the strength I need for this moment.” You don't need perfect words. You need connection with the One who sustains you. Rhythm #2: Find One Sacred Moment Caregivers often think rest requires a long break. But what if restoration can begin with five minutes? Find one sacred moment in your day. Sit outside. Drink your tea slowly. Read one Scripture. Listen to worship music. Take three deep breaths. Put your hand over your heart and remind yourself: “God is with me here.” Your sacred moment doesn't have to look impressive. It simply needs to create space for your soul to breathe. God can do incredible work through small moments surrendered to Him. Rhythm #3: Release One Burden Here's a question I want every caregiver to sit with: “What am I carrying today that God never asked me to carry?” Maybe it's fear about the future. Guilt about not doing enough. The pressure to be strong all the time. The belief that everything depends on you. The need to control an outcome you cannot control. Write the burden down. Name it. Then surrender it to God. You don't have to solve everything today. You can trust God with what you cannot control. Mama, I would love for you to become a Sustained Caregiver Insider. Grab your free Caregiver Reset Guide here https://thankful-butterfly-80271.myflodesk.com/i5logzh5n0  Your 3-Day Soul Care Challenge For the next three days, I want you to practice one five-minute rhythm of rest. That's it. Not an hour. Not a complicated morning routine. Not another item on your never-ending caregiver checklist. Five minutes. Five minutes with God. Five minutes of Scripture. Five minutes of worship. Five minutes of quiet. Five minutes to breathe and remember: I am not carrying this alone. And as you practice it, pay attention to what happens inside you. Notice your thoughts. Notice your emotions. Notice your breathing. Notice whether your heart begins to feel just a little lighter. This isn't about perfection. It's about creating a rhythm your exhausted soul can actually sustain. The Caregiver Takeaway Friend, I want you to remember this: Rest isn't abandoning your responsibilities. Rest is allowing God to restore the person carrying them. You can love your child deeply and still need rest. You can have strong faith and still feel exhausted. You can trust God and still cry. You can be grateful and still admit that caregiving is hard. And you don't have to wait until the crisis is over to receive God's strength. God can meet you in the hospital room. He can meet you in the waiting room. He can meet you in the kitchen. He can meet you in the middle of the night. He can meet you in the valley. You don't have to find your way back to strength by yourself. The God who sustained you yesterday can strengthen you today.  Become a Sustained Caregiver insider and receive weekly faith-filled encouragement and caregiver tips. https://blissfuleewell.myflodesk.com/caregivernewsletter
