    EMDR: THE THERAPY THAT CHANGED MY LIFE

In this episode of Pretty Conscious, we’re diving into the neuroscience of healing through my personal experience with EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). I share what EMDR actually is to me, how bilateral stimulation helps the brain process trauma, and why healing is about so much more than “moving on”, it’s about helping your nervous system realize that you’re finally safe. I also open up about parts of my own healing journey, including experiences of assault, and how those experiences shaped the way I saw myself and the world. My hope is that by sharing my story, you’ll better understand how the brain responds to trauma and why healing isn’t about fixing yourself, it’s about reconnecting with who you’ve always been beneath survival. Whether you’re curious about EMDR, fascinated by neuroscience, or on your own healing journey, I hope this conversation reminds you that your brain isn’t broken, it’s been trying to protect you. And healing is possible.
