EXODUS 8: What was God Saying Through the Ten Plagues?

EXODUS 8 What was God Saying Through the Ten Plagues? God was taking on the false Egyptian deities, demonstrating His sovereignty and supremacy over all creation. It is His. What were these gods? We learn from Scripture that man-made idols have no power in themselves, but trusting in them for help and protection is, in fact, the worship of demons (see Deuteronomy 32:17 and Revelation 9:20 for examples). There are demonic entities behind every idol.

Exodus 3: Moses at the Burning Bush

Read the sermon notes while you listen to the sermon available on our website. tuolumnebaptist.org I thought Moses’ father-in-law was Reuel? Two names, one person: Most biblical scholars and commentators agree that Reuel and Jethro refer to the same individual, much like a person having a formal name, a nickname, or a second personal name later in life. Moses shepherds Jethro’s flock and leads them to the back of the desert near Horeb, the mountain of God. The Angel of the Lord is going to appear to him from a burning bush that is not consumed by the fire.

Exodus 1: Israel’s Suffering in Egypt

EXODUS 1: Israel’s Suffering in Egypt Understanding the Timeline Gap from the End of Genesis: Genesis 50 concludes with the death of Joseph at the age of 110.  The Start of Exodus:  The book of exodus, like the other books of the Pentateuch (the first five books of the Bible), names no particular author. Early Jewish and Christian tradition, however, affirmed that Moses was the writer. In several places, the book indicates that Moses wrote down God’s instructions (see Exod 17:14; 24:4; 34:27-28). Thus, though the book is formally anonymous, there is every reason to accept the tradition that it was written by the main character in its storyline:Moses. The book also shows how God moved the people of Israel into the wilderness to begin the process of developing them into the nation he wanted them to become. This is a reminder that after deliverance comes development.
