Unsolicited Permission: The Crown-Fixing Mom Podcast

Emily Liang

Unsolicited Permission: The Crown-Fixing Mom Podcast is the show for mothers over 35 who are done waiting, done shrinking, and ready to break the generational cycles that have kept them putting themselves last for generations. We talk about the hard stuff: the mom burnout nobody names, the mom guilt that won't quit, the identity you lost somewhere between diapers and carpool, the body that's been through everything and deserves to be celebrated instead of punished, and the community of women who fix each other's crowns instead of competing for them.FREE RESOURCES: 🧠 Take the free Mom Identity Quiz (13 questions, 5 minutes) → https://momstrong-quiz.base44.app  👑 Join the free MomStrong Crown Club on Facebook → https://facebook.com/groups/momstrongcrownclub  💌 Coffee with the Queen newsletter → https://lp.constantcontactpages.com/sl/JMH08xY/coffeequeen 📲 Instagram → https://instagram.com/be_healthy_be_you_trainer  🏋️ Coaching with Emily → https://getstarted.behealthybeyoufitness.com New episodes every Tuesday. Episode 9: You Run This. Even When It's Tilted.

It's nine at night and you're doing the math. Who got what today? The kids. Work. The house. The appointments. The endless things that needed you. And somehow, there was nothing left for you. So you hand yourself the same verdict so many overwhelmed moms do: I have no balance. But what if you don't have a balance problem? What if you have a definition problem? In the final episode of August's take-your-life-back series, I'm throwing out the idea that balance means giving everything an equal piece of you. Because real life doesn't work that way. And I know that personally. I've always been the woman with a loaded plate. In high school, I stacked sports, activities, performances and leadership roles. In college, I double majored while working three jobs, dancing, and taking on sorority and Panhellenic responsibilities. My answer was always the same: I'll figure out how to carry it all. Until IIH forced me to admit that this time, I couldn't. For the first time, I had to put something down. Graduate school. Not because I stopped wanting my degree. Not because I gave up. Not because I couldn't handle it. I had to learn the difference between “I quit” and “not right now.” I need to take care of my health. Fix my head. And then I'll be back. And maybe that's what real balance sometimes looks like. Not proving you can carry everything. Knowing what needs you right now, protecting enough of yourself that you don't disappear in the process, and giving yourself permission to let something else wait. In this episode: → Why work-life balance is a two-sided scale for a twelve-sided life → Why intentional doesn't mean you chose what happened → The lesson IIH taught me about finally putting something down → Why “not right now” does NOT mean giving up → The small “floor” that keeps you from disappearing during a lopsided season → How to decide what needs you now — and what can wait This week's Permission Slip: 👑 You have permission to let your life tilt without calling yourself a failure. The Challenge: Finish these three sentences: Right now, this season is tilted toward ______. The thing I'm protecting while it's tilted is ______. The thing I'm giving myself permission to say “not right now” to is ______. 🎧 Listen to the podcast: https://www.youtube.com/@Unsolicited-Permission-Podcast 👑 Join the free MomStrong Crown Club: https://facebook.com/groups/momstrongcrownclub 🧠 Take the FREE Mom Identity Quiz: https://momstrong-quiz.base44.app 💌 Join the Coffee with the Queen Newsletter: https://lp.constantcontactpages.com/sl/JMH08xY/coffeequeen August was about taking your life back. Episode 8: Back to School, Not Back to Survival Mode

You don't have to control the chaos. You just have to hold your corner. The kids got a fresh start. The school got a fresh start. Nobody handed one to you. And every year, back-to-school season has a way of doing the same thing: the calendar fills up... and mom disappears. In this episode, Emily names the September Slide — the way overwhelmed moms slowly lose their routines, health goals, quiet time, and connection to themselves when the school year gets loud. But this year, we're doing it differently. You do not have to control the whole storm. You just have to decide what part of your life the storm does not get to take. Emily shares what this season actually looks like in her own home — competitive gymnastics, t-ball, homework, therapies, activities, business, school, health appointments, and everything in between — and why she's stopped waiting for a calm week to finally take care of herself. Because there is no calm week coming to save us. There is only the decision to keep one part of the season with your name on it. In this episode: → Why the school-year routine often pushes moms back into survival mode → The “September Slide” — and why it is not a discipline problem → Why you cannot keep solving an overloaded system by deleting yourself from it → How to choose one school-year anchor that can survive a hard day → Why “if it only works on a good day, it’s not a corner — it’s a wish” → How to create a backup plan before the schedule gets chaotic → What it looks like to hold your corner without needing the whole day to go right THIS WEEK’S PERMISSION SLIP: You have permission to keep one corner of this season for yourself — and protect it like it matters. Because it does. THE CHALLENGE: Choose one school-year anchor that keeps you connected to yourself. Then choose its backup spot for the days when life inevitably interrupts it. Your reminder: This can move. It does not disappear. 🎧 Listen to the podcast: https://www.youtube.com/@Unsolicited-Permission-Podcast 👑 Join the free MomStrong Crown Club: https://facebook.com/groups/momstrongcrownclub 🧠 Take the FREE Mom Identity Quiz: https://momstrong-quiz.base44.app 💌 Join the Coffee with the Queen Newsletter: https://lp.constantcontactpages.com/sl/JMH08xY/coffeequeen NEXT EPISODE: Balance was never about everything being equal. Episode 7: Put Yourself Back on the List | Ten Minutes. Every Day. It's a Declaration.

The kids. The job. The house. The practices. The groceries. Everybody's needs make the list every single day... and somehow, your name disappeared. In week two of August's take-your-life-back series, Emily gets personal: the dream she left on the back burner for three years, the guilt of "Mom... are you done working yet?", and the truth nobody says out loud — you can love your children more than anything in this world and still need a life that contains YOU. Then she hands you the smallest, strongest move there is: ten minutes a day that belong to you. Small enough to survive your real life. Big enough to say I am on the list. This isn't a habit. It's a declaration. In this episode: → Why ten minutes beats the hour you keep promising yourself you'll start someday → What "putting yourself on the list" actually means (it's bigger than bubble baths — it's your health, your faith, your dreams, your future) → Emily's own story: three years of back-burner, the fear underneath it, and what changed → The three rules that make your ten minutes stick — including "Reschedule. Don't cancel." → What your kids learn when they watch a mom who doesn't disappear inside her own family 🎧 Listen to the podcast: https://www.youtube.com/@Unsolicited-Permission-Podcast  👑 Join the free MomStrong Crown Club: https://facebook.com/groups/momstrongcrownclub   🧠 Take the FREE Mom Identity Quiz: https://momstrong-quiz.base44.app   💌 Join the Coffee with the Queen Newsletter: https://lp.constantcontactpages.com/sl/JMH08xY/coffeequeen THIS WEEK'S PERMISSION SLIP: You have permission to put yourself back on the list. Episode 6: The Myth of the Perfect Routine

You tried the 5 a.m. routine. The Sunday meal prep. The color-coded calendar. The perfectly planned week. And when real life interrupted it, you blamed yourself. In the first episode of our August series, Emily breaks down the myth of the perfect routine and why it leaves so many moms feeling like they have no discipline, cannot follow through, or are failing at managing their lives. You’ll learn the difference between a perfect routine and a working routine, why rigid plans collapse when real life happens, and how smaller, flexible promises can help you rebuild trust in yourself. Because the best routine is not the one that looks perfect on paper. It’s the one that survives your real life. 🎧 Listen to the podcast: https://www.youtube.com/@Unsolicited-Permission-Podcast 👑 Join the free MomStrong Crown Club: https://facebook.com/groups/momstrongcrownclub 🧠 Take the FREE Mom Identity Quiz: https://momstrong-quiz.base44.app 💌 Join the Coffee with the Queen Newsletter: https://lp.constantcontactpages.com/sl/JMH08xY/coffeequeen THIS WEEK’S PERMISSION SLIP: You have permission to stop chasing the perfect routine. Episode 4 - You Don't Need More Willpower You Need Your People

Every failed restart. Every Monday that fell apart. Every time you promised yourself, “This time will be different.” You were told it was a willpower problem. It never was. In this deeply personal episode, Emily shares the story she has never told in full: two weight-loss journeys, two completely different experiences, and the realization that became the foundation of Be Healthy, Be You. The first journey was focused on losing the weight. The second forced her to look deeper—at the pressure, exhaustion, identity loss, survival-mode habits, and old stories that no workout plan or meal plan could fix. That discovery changed not only how Emily approached her own health, but also how she supports women who are tired of blaming themselves every time another restart falls apart. This episode is for the woman who knows what to do but struggles to keep doing it. The woman who feels like she should be able to figure it out alone. The woman who has mistaken exhaustion, overwhelm, and a lack of support for personal failure. You do not need more shame. You do not need another extreme reset. You do not need more willpower. You need an approach that supports the whole woman—not just the number on the scale. In this episode, Emily shares: • The truth behind her two weight-loss journeys • Why the same woman can have two completely different experiences • Why knowledge and willpower are rarely the full problem • How survival mode affects consistency, confidence, and self-care • The turning point that inspired Be Healthy, Be You • Why lasting change requires support, identity work, sustainable habits, and community Listen and Follow Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/unsolicited-permission-the-crown-fixing-mom-podcast/id6785859432 Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/033Hjn1jkwDN0rwKzPvKlE Buzzsprout: https://unsolicited_permission.buzzsprout.com/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@Unsolicited-Permission-Podcast Join the MomStrong Community Join the free MomStrong Crown Club—a supportive fitness and wellness community for moms who are ready to stop doing everything alone: https://www.facebook.com/groups/momstrongcrownclub Discover your MomStrong Queen Type: https://momstrong-quiz.base44.app Take Your Next Step Explore MomStrong coaching: https://getstarted.behealthybeyoufitness.com/ Book a MomStrong Connect Call: https://calendly.com/behealthybeyoufitness/momstrong-connect Read Built, Not Broken: The MomStrong Method: https://a.co/d/07Pg8keP Connect with Emily Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/be_healthy_be_you_trainer/ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@MomStrongEmily Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/BeHealthy.BeYou.Fitness Subscribe and follow Unsolicited Permission: The Crown-Fixing Mom Podcast so you do not miss the next episode. Episode 3 - Your kids are watching...but what are they really learning

Most of us have heard the phrase, "Little eyes are always watching." But this episode isn't about perfect parenting or saying all the right things. It's about something much deeper. The way you treat yourself may be teaching your children more than the words you say to them. In this episode of Unsolicited Permission, we're talking about the quiet lessons our children learn from watching us every day—how we speak to ourselves, whether we believe we deserve rest, how we handle mistakes, and what it means to value ourselves. We'll explore: Why your children learn more from what they see than what they hearHow generational patterns are passed down—and how they can stop with youThe surprising connection between self-care and the legacy you're leavingThis week's Permission Slip Challenge that could change the way your children see themselvesThis isn't an episode about guilt. It's an episode about hope. Because your children don't need a perfect mom. Episode 1: Who You Were Before "Mom" Became Your Only Identity

If you've lost yourself in motherhood, this episode is for you — a mom identity, self-care, and mindset podcast for mothers who are ready to reclaim who they were before "mom" became their only identity. What happens when you've given so much of yourself to everyone else that you've completely forgotten who you are? In Episode 1, Emily opens with radical honesty - sharing what it's really like to be a single mom building a business while managing a chronic health diagnosis, and the moment she realized "selfless" had quietly become less self. She introduces the concept she calls the slow disappearing act: the gradual, quiet way motherhood erodes your identity one small erosion at a time. This is your permission to stop disappearing and start finding her again.
