Barb Mallon, Psychic Medium

This podcast centers mainly on mediumship (proving the existence of life after so-called death), presenting it as the ability to communicate with the consciousness of those whose physical body has "died", and connects this to subjects of grief, healing, and spirituality.   Host, Barb Mallon - a Psychic Medium, Tarot Consultant and Mentor with over 26 years of experience - shares personal insights and stories from her practice. She emphasizes that intuitive or psychic abilities aren’t limited to only a chosen few, that others can also learn to connect with spiritual realms and experience very real connections. Beyond mediumship, the podcast expands into broader metaphysical topics. Barb discusses guidance practices like Tarot, as well as the energies of gemstones and crystals for emotional and spiritual well-being.  Drawing from her 12+ years as a silversmith, she also explores the symbolic meanings of different materials, including gemstones, crystals, silver and gold, and how they are used in spiritual or energetic work. Overall, the podcast blends personal experience with metaphysical beliefs, framing spirituality as something both accessible and deeply intertwined with everyday life and healing.

Spiderwebs: The Day I Saw That Everything Is Connected

In 1999, I was a young mom researching mediums online when I landed on one particular website — and got slammed with the strangest experience of my life. What started as an endless déjà vu turned into something I can only describe as seeing the machinery of connection itself: my son, my dog Blue, the couch, the computer — everything became points of energy, all linked by thin, sparkling streams of light, like a spiderweb with a hub of energy at every crossing. There was no difference between a table, a dog, and a person. We really are all connected. I was so undone by it that I climbed up to my computer and typed my husband a message on AIM: "I think I'm dying. Please call me." (Why didn't I just call him? To this day, I have no idea.) His voice grounded me — and when it started happening again a week later, I learned I could say "not now" and be heard. In this episode I tell the whole story, share what it taught me about how energy and connection actually work in a reading, and pass along the lesson that came with it: you do you. There is no one correct way to connect with spirit — not mine, not any famous medium's from a book. Plus this week's collective tarot pull... listen to find out! That ONE Question I Always Get Asked as a Psychic Medium

Ninety percent of the people who call me about a session end the conversation with the same question: "How and when did you first know you could do this?" In this episode, I finally give the long answer. It's a journey, not a moment: the dreamy, floaty kid obsessed with Peter Pan and haunting the library's occult section for books on ESP. Free tarot readings in the back of a Starbucks (until three teenagers stole my tip jar — all fifteen dollars of it). Reading on Keen. Then the day I stumbled onto John Edward on TV and my whole body lit up. From there: the medium whose entire advice was "meditate," learning to trust my own team of spirit guides, online practice circles in the dial-up days, Rev. B. Anne Gehman's Wednesday spirit circles, and the validation that still gives me chills — a handmade necklace, a psychometry reading, and a stranger's Uncle Larry. I also share my five big takeaways for anyone developing their own abilities, and close with this week's collective tarot pull: the Magician — you already have all the tools you need. In this episode: The one question almost every caller asks meWhy you don't need a medium to talk to your loved ones in spiritTrust — the word that changes everythingStarbucks readings, Keen, and the John Edward momentAnne Gehman's spirit circles and what practice really looks likeThe Uncle Larry necklace validationFive things to remember while you're developingWeekly collective tarot pull: The MagicianBook a session: barbmallon.com/book-online My handmade jewelry: barbmallondesigns.com Follow along: Instagram & Facebook @barbmallonmediumbydesign Keywords: psychic medium, how to develop mediumship, spirit guides, psychometry, evidential medium, psychic development, tarot, Anne Gehman Send us Fan Mail Support the show

Where Do I Start? From the Beginning!

Welcome to Medium By Design! I'm Barb Mallon — psychic medium, tarot consultant, mentor, and silversmith — and in this very first episode, I'm starting exactly where I should: at the beginning. I'll introduce myself and my 26+ years as an evidential medium, share why I started this podcast (hint: I believe every single person is intuitive — yes, you too), and tell the story of one of my earliest otherworldly experiences: a childhood hospital stay at age eight or nine, a mysterious illness no one could explain, and the strange, structured, sparkly patterns I saw on the ceiling that I knew — somehow — were something higher. Was it that experience that opened me up? The "going away" places I built in my imagination to cope? Maybe both. Either way, it was the start of everything. Plus: this week's collective tarot pull — the Star, reversed — and what it means for anyone who's afraid to show their true self. In this episode: Who I am and what an evidential medium actually doesWhy I believe intuition is for everyone, not a chosen fewThe magical "going away" places of my childhoodThe hospital experience that showed me another realm existsA teaser for the "Spiderwebs" experience (coming in Episode 3!)Weekly collective tarot pull: The Star, reversedHave a weird experience of your own?
