    Money, Money, Money Part 2

In this episode of Hems and Mems, the hosts answer the question, “What should I study to be financially stable biblically?” They explore God’s ownership of all that we have, the importance of faithful and diligent work, and the purpose behind tithing and generosity throughout Scripture. From Abraham’s gift to Melchizedek and the Old Testament support of the Levites and people in need to Jesus’ teaching on sincere, sacrificial giving, this conversation invites listeners to view money not as something to hold tightly, but as a resource to steward with wisdom, honesty, gratitude, and love for God and others.

    Money, Money, Money Part 1

In this episode of Hems and Mems, the hosts explore what biblical financial stability looks like, emphasizing that all money and possessions ultimately belong to God and should be managed with faithful stewardship. They discuss the value of diligence and faithfulness in work, then examine tithing through examples including Abraham’s gift to Melchizedek, the Mosaic Law’s support for the Levites, and provisions for the poor, widows, and foreigners. They explain that while tithing is commonly understood today as giving 10% to the church, the deeper biblical principle is generosity motivated by gratitude and a sincere heart. Drawing on the widow’s offering, Ananias and Sapphira, and a mission-trip example of congregants giving food and livestock, the episode stresses that giving should honor God, care for those serving the church, and support people in need—not seek recognition or follow rules without genuine faith.

    Deep Dive with Solomon

Episode focus: Solomon’s promised peace, compromised heart, and the difference between possessing wisdom and applying it. In this episode, Hems and Ems follow a biblical “rabbit hole” that began with a text-message discovery while reading Chronicles. They revisit Solomon’s many marriages and ask a central question: if God had already promised Solomon peace from his enemies, could political alliances really explain his marriages? Reading from 1 Chronicles 22:9–13, they emphasize God’s promise that Solomon would be a man of peace and that Israel would experience rest during his reign so that he could build the temple. This leads them to consider whether Solomon’s actions came from a lack of trust in God’s promise, from personal desire, or both.

How Did Solomon Bag All Those Baddies? Who Was The Baddest?

Hems & Ems dig into what Scripture actually says about Solomon’s many wives, reflecting on Naamah—the only wife named in the Bible—and using the question as a springboard to discuss wisdom, character, and what really matters in godly relationships today. They invite listeners to think critically about biblical narratives, avoid romanticizing Solomon’s choices, and learn to read these stories with discernment and humour.

    In the Beginning...

"hems&ems" began with a simple idea: a group of youth who wanted honest, Bible‑related answers in a relaxed setting. The leaders, Emily and Noemie, responded by creating an evening that felt like a live podcast—just chairs, conversations, and real questions. That informal experiment worked so well that it naturally grew into a full podcast, so their group’s questions could reach even more young people.

    Is God an Aura Farmer?

In this episode of hem&ems, the hosts tackle a real question from their youth group: “Is God an aura farmer?” Using Merriam‑Webster’s definition of “aura farming,” they unpack what it means to be “impressively cool,” walk through stories of God’s glory in Exodus and Acts, and explain why God doesn’t “farm aura” but naturally radiates it—and how Christians are called to reflect that glory in everyday life.
